  • False. Protein only becomes excess when someone eats too many calories, and those excess calories come from protein. Protein won't make you gain fat. Excess calories will.
  • Try feeding them more protein
  • Eggs Chicken Almonds Onion Tuna Cheese Raspberries
  • I feel as if I'm going slightly off topic :/ . BMI can also really over estimate someone's fat mass. I agree with you 100%. This girl really should go to a doctor who'll be able to steer her towards a healthy lifestyle.
  • Almonds! They haven't got an extreme level of protein in them, but a decent amount. And at the right portion size the calories will drop to under 100
  • I found this really interesting because I always thought that BMI mostly overestimated a person's fat mass. I find BMI to be grossly unreliable, but for someone starting out on a fat loss journey, it can be helpful at first.
  • BMI isn't reliable.
  • Yes i completely agree! And I've mentioned in my other posts in this thread that she perhaps has a very negative perception of herself and that fasting will only have negative consequences for her.
  • Thats irrelevant whether you've had anorexia. Everyone's different, and just because she could have self esteem issues doesn't mean she has an eating disorder, and you're in no position to tell her that she has one.
  • People are horrible. One time I was walking to work, when a random guy yelled that he'd 'give me a go', if I lost a few kilos -.- .
  • I don't think you can deem her anorexic just because of her stats . . .
  • Yes but a lot of people in the world eat nothing but junk all day every day and don't gain weight, does that mean that its ok? No But your trainer was crazy because carrots are awesome.
  • We all fall off the wagon sometimes :). The important thing is that the next day you get back on and try again. Drink lots of water throughout the day, have protein at breakfast to keep you full, dont skip any meals!! Do some light walking or other excericse, or whatever you do normally :) .
  • I think while I'm trying to lose weight, Ill still use MFP to log my food, just to make sure that I'm staying within my limits. Its very easy for me to get off track without realising it. When I'm maintaining my weight, my life will be less about calorie counting, and I won't need to do it as much I guess.
  • If you have been fasting for a week, its understandable that you've lost a lot of weight in the first week (granted a large part of it could be water weight). Losing fat via fasting however, is not healthy for your body, and chances are you'll gain the weight back as soon as you stop fasting and return to your regular diet.
  • Fruit is good for you, but too much sugar is still too much sugar. Regardless of whether its from fruit or not.
  • I think people forget that even though the sugar in fruit is natural, lots of it can still be High GI, especially fruits such as watermelon and grapes. Though in the end, Its better to have a handful of grapes then a handful of chocolate. Essentially, keep your fruit at 2 servings a day and don't go over a serving size.
  • for your thighs, adductor and abductor machines (if you have a gym membership) are amazing. They tone your inner and outer thighs. Walking lunges with weights are great for your legs, as are incline leg presses.
  • Unfortunately plateus are just something that can happen. i went through one for 6 weeks, but I counted calories all the way through and now I've broken through it. You just got to keep pushing, no matter what
  • I have PCOS, and my periods were never regular before I started taking the pill, when I was about 16. Im nineteen now, and I stopped taking the pill about 5 months ago. My doctor never really explained to me how important it was to lose weight in order to make my periods regular, i had to learn that from google. i used to…
