I like less starchy alternatives - like giving my family mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatos. :) And I love ground turkey!!

Wow, I think most 16 year olds lose 50% of their minds. ;) So you're doing well. That is a NEAT fact!

When i was 6 i entered a draw for a cabbage patch kid (i'm 32) and when i got home the phone was ringing and I told my mom she had to get it because it was the guy from kmart. And it was. And i won. :)

Wow, i know how you feel. Even after losing 13 lbs from starting, and finally taking my before pix, I feel like that can't be me! I have avoided social situations (for a few reasons) over the past 4 or so years, and I'm really hoping to get back to it soon. I miss my friends, and socializing. I'm in month 1? and I find…

I'm new so I'm sure it's not great, but I log often. Whenever I lose (as long as I have consistent weigh ins 2 days running. If i'm gaining, i wait 2-3 days to see if it doesn't balance out (if it's 1-2 lbs, since it could be water)...

Spinach salad with some egg and grated cheese (or crumbled feta) - Hard boiled eggs and celery/peanut butter (if you've got the carbs for it) Homemade soup (like pureed veggies, in broth) Lunch meat and uncooked veggies or a green leafy salad A cheese string and some veggies with a hard boiled egg (or omlette, if you've…

I got fat because i ate too much and wasn't active enough. (happy relationship, etc) and I decided to change because I am a Canadian size 16 or so, and I want to shop in normal stores, be healthy, and set a good example for my family who also need positive changes. I have a lot of excuses, like PCOS (real) and working too…

One of the things that'll help is chest exercises - building up those pecs will support what breast remains and make them look better (bigger??) I went the surgical route because I was never blessed, but I'll still be building up those chest muscles to make sure that there's some good perk. But your smaller body will make…

Sorry if this was already answered- Re White Potatos and other white starches and why they're bad... Because they cause your blood sugar to spike right away, vs a slower digested carb. For me, with a metabolic issue, it's bad. For a weightlifter or someone who's young it may not be an issue. But sooner or later, it's not…

Extra protein as you're losing will ensure you're not burning through muscle (or HELP with that) but if you're not losing check what the bodybuilders do. They're a great source of info.

What about tuna salad - green salad, tuna and mayo. Yum! Or if you don't like that, how about eggs and some light toast for a cheap breakfast meal. Scrambled eggs and cheese? I'm all about quick and high protein. :)

I hear you on the anti-dr rant! I have come across some GREAT ones and some really awful ones, or at least ones that don't seem to have the time. :P

My Dr never mentioned anything about PCOS until I went to a fertility specialist, and then WHAMMO they saw polycystic ovaries on ultrasound, and it made sense. But the weight creates increase in female hormones which creates more and more, and that DOES slow or stop or disregulate one's periods. My bariatric dr prescribed…

Do you have Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome? Irregular periods, etc. and quick weight gain, middle weight (tummy) and possibly hair growth patterns on your body, or hair loss on your head...? Just wondering. I do, and my crazy gains are somewhat related. I'm also wondering if you have started any meds that put on weight (anti…

Thanks guys. I was at a practice last night watching. It was intense. I think in Derby the head AND the body need to e in the game. So I'll work on that. :)

Agree, treat it as a cheat day if it's over your carbs, but don't cheat on other stuff. Shaking it up a LITTLE is good. :) And drink extra water. And eat some good protein (hard boiled egg?) before going, so that you can be eating good protein with that carb!! ;) Good for you not cheating for 6 weeks. I've brought my own…

Awesome!! Way to go!! AND thank you for taking pictures at the same basic distance, in the same location, in the same pose, wearing approximately the same style of clothing! Truly wonderful how we can REALLY SEE THE DIFFERENCE!!! Inspiring.

Welcome, and good luck!! I hear you on all of those factors - I have an office job and a lot of depression in the family and my background. It gets better once it picks up steam. :) There are a lot of supportive people here, and I find it helpful looking at what has worked for other people. For ice cream and treats, I find…

I run at night too. Wear WHITE not black. And reflective strips. AND one of those cheap flashing lights on your hat or something if you can (lame but safe, and even lamer is being road pizza.)

I hear the same - it's fine as long as you keep within your calories. But if it leads to more snacking AND puts you out of control, then you have to wonder if it's worth it.
