Mine is $60 per month. It has a weights room, a cardio room, a spinning studio, lots of classes including dancing classes, a pool, with aquabiking classes, a jacuzzi, 2 saunas and a hammam. It's pretty expensive but I love it so much!

I have started doing New Rules of Lifting for Women. I try to follow all the advice for form and I look up videos online before trying it. I also ask for help from guys who seem to know what they're doing.

Mine is: Monday: New Rules of Lifting for Women Tuesday: aquabiking Wednesday: Easy run (30-40 minutes) Thursday: NROLFW Friday: rest/walk dog Saturday: Run (30-40 minutes) Sunday: Rest/walk dog Of course I walk my dog more often, but on my rest days I'll go a bit further with him. I also play some dancing games on the wii…

43 minute run/walk at the beach! It was beautiful :) Chilly, but beautiful. Running on sand is quite different though :) Visiting in-laws, beach runs are a huge perk (rather than city parks or sidewalks). My HRM said I burned 475 calories.

I'm Lex, married 4 years (almost), we have a puppy named Gem (hence the SN). I'm 24 and this is my third real attempt at fitness in my life (lasting more than a couple of weeks). In high school I swam twice a week but never got very good, in 2008 I tried running but wasn't going about it right and got discouraged. I'm 5'3"…

Just added myself since I joined today!

My goal is to run the Marseille women's 9.5k (really? They couldn't make it a 10k? LOL) at the end of March, and to complete the New Rules of Lifting for Women program this year to get stronger. I'd eventually like to be able to run a full marathon but I want to try a shorter race before I commit to it. I may not even LIKE…

Is it convenient for you to go there? If it isn't, you won't go after the first few weeks. Is it clean? Are the trainers helpful (you can ask a few people this question when you go for your trial workout)? Bells and whistles: my gym has a pool, sauna and jacuzzi. When I go when the gym is nearly empty, thanks to my…

I guess no lifters were on when I posted this. Trying again!

I also go by the above-the-neck rule. Another thing you can do is if you know your normal resting heart rate, if you go much more than 5-10% above normal on any given day sit it out or go easy (last week I walked at a decent pace for the same amount of time I was planning on running)

I do both, and I prefer running outside if only because it's more interesting (less boring, more likely to stick with it) and it also has the benefit (especially in winter) of allowing you to get some sunlight which so far has helped me ward off SAD. So if you're running on a treadmill at home, at least put it near a…

Hi, I'm Lex and my husband and I are waiting to adopt. We are about halfway through the homestudy process. I joined to read stories and hopefully one day add my own! Lisa, my story so far sounds like yours, I have had 4 miscarriages.

Using the sauna as a changing room! This one woman came into the sauna and proceeded to remove her swimsuit, dry off while sitting on the bench and change into her street clothes. So awkward. It took her forever, too. Others are doing it, so much that I now go into the mixed sauna rather than the women-only sauna. At least…

I'm very sorry :( I haven't lost a baby so late in pregnancy, but I have had 4 first-trimester miscarriages. Between all the hormone fluctuation and grief binging, I gained about 20 pounds over 2 years, I'm about halfway to losing them. The only thing I can say is be kind to yourself in all things and get better on your…

I got them for the first time today... I have the right shoes fitted and I know for a fact that I haven't been overworking, I'm literally taking it slow. I think it's because I have been mainly running on sidewalks for the past 3 runs for a change of scenery instead of the park.
-
I think you can count whatever you like -- I know I just never count it if I'm walking to and from the subway station (a good 10 minutes each way, twice a day) or doing a quick walk round the block with my dog, since I'm not in a "workout" mode, I'm not trying to get my heart rate up or train or anything and I don't feel…
-
Last week I did a total of 9.3 miles plus more walking I don't count (I only count it if I go out with my running shoes and jog for at least part of the time. I do a lot of walking just to get from A to B or with my dog)
-
I'm actually about the same -- between 12 and 15 minute miles. I tend to just go ahead and log it like I've been running 8 MPH because the calories from my HRM are close.
-
I have been jogging off and on for the past 2 years. I was never fast and I was trying too hard to get fast before and not making any progress. I think I was pushing myself too hard. In the past month I have started a walk/jog program that I have been following at an easy pace as measured by my HRM. And yes, I'm slow.…

One thing you can do is make a list for yourself of restaurants and fast food places that have options you know you can eat without sabotaging yourself. Next time, you can say "hmm... I'm more in the mood for X or Y right now". Or anticipate by doing the inviting when you feel it might go in that direction. Most likely he…

I'm slow enough that I can speedwalk as fast as I jog :p But I'm getting there!

I guess I feel marginalised on a daily basis because I'm NOT a mother. France is very much all about the parents. It just felt like another blow to the ego. I really don't think mothers are marginalised much here at all! Which is a good thing for them and hopefully for me one day, but I do think sometimes it's not easy for…

Thanks for understanding, although I'm not sure I want their pity necessarily, I just assumed that the city was funding the special program since they are funding the race in general (but I may be wrong on this) and so I thought they should have a nice program for more people who might need help getting to that finish…
-
I guess I never really considered that this was a business as the race is mostly funded by the city, so I figured it should be more egalitarian with discounts for students, seniors and unemployed people and other groups too if they are so enclined. The website doesn't give a lot of information, maybe this program is…

Yeah ok fine. Life isn't fair. If we had lived by that mantra as a society, women would still not be allowed to run in marathons at all. I just thought it odd because most cities in my country have programs that are more all-englobing and allow for various fun things for nearly anybody. Excuse me for ranting a little bit.…

I guess it's a sore spot for me. Not everyone wants kids and that's fine -- but not everyone who wants them can have them either. I'd be more fine with it if there were special things for other demographics too, even something small. Perhaps a raffle to win the same advantages for a lucky 10 first-timers regardless of age,…

Squats, lunges, stairs, and also a bit of aquagym. I think running helps too. I do all of these and it's working but I'm not sure which is working best :)
-
Ditto this! I got fitted by a very pro locally owned store, they were very helpful and really took the time with me and gave me honest tips instead of pushing me to buy more (I asked what they thought about my HRM vs. some of the nicer models in the store and they said to stick with mine for now unless I'll use the…

I don't have any tips but I'm doing my first next year in October in Lyon, France! I'm still in the early, early, stages of training... taking it sloooow to avoid injury (I have knee issues)

I think it's odd they're letting her keep her other 3 children, and it's weird she didn't do that to them when they were babies... How horrible :(
