I like to look at it this way: generally speaking, the foods that are high in fiber are the foods that we should be consuming the most of...fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. There really isn't such a thing as too much fiber, although as a few have already mentioned, if your body is not accustomed to consuming higher…

Probably lots of wine. I'm probably going to be making some homemade eggnog as well, which I will make a "leaded" version for the grownups and an "unleaded" version for the kiddos. :drinker:

I'm 6'3", I started at 256 lbs. and am down to 228; my goal is to be between 210-215.

I'm not playing this correctly, but Beautyfrompain, you're a 10. Give yourself more credit than that.

Barley is good. I make a "risotto" from time to time using barley instead of rice. Good stuff. Bulgur is another grain I will sometimes cook and add vegetables to it to make a sort of salad.

I'm a fan of Fage, Chobani, and Oikos is pretty good as well.

That is awesome! I'm very happy for you! Nicely done!
-
Congratulations! That is fantastic!

Nope, not at all. You're losing some of that by working out, plus the additional water flushes out the extra junk from the soda. The whole "8 glasses a day" (one of your jugs' worth) is just the recommended minimum for the day. You're just fine with that amount.

I've got a ways to go to catch up to you... :noway:

That's funny. I fixed broccoli like this last night for dinner. It's delicious. Granted, I like broccoli regardless...raw, steamed, you name it (just not boiled to death)...but this is a very tasty preparation. Often times the most simplistic preparation is the best.

Thanks for the recipe!

Mapmyrun and mapmywalk are pretty good

I do that for some things, but you have to be careful about doing that all of the time, because swinging those values too far the other direction can cause you to take in too few net calories, which can be just as bad as having too many net calories.

Probably most everything, I'll just try not to eat a ton of anything...and I'll probably run a little bit longer that day as well.

Either Stash's Green tea or their English Breakfast black tea. No sugar/sweeteners, just the delicious straight-up flavor of the tea.

I usually feel some guilt when my schedule doesn't allow it or makes it difficult, but some days I just need a break to rest my body.

There is such a site--it's called mapmywalk.com. You can map out routes and determine distances, etc. You can also keep track of your walks.

Wash your greens/lettuces, spin them dry in a salad spinner, then lay them out on a long sheet of paper towels and roll them up and put them in a ziploc bag. That will usually keep them longer than most other storage methods.

I've been wondering the same thing...I feel kind of stupid, like I completely missed something.

Hey Cait! Welcome and best of luck!

Like the others have said, you most likely need to be eating more. Try increasing your caloric intake by a couple hundred calories and see if that helps. If your body isn't getting enough calories it basically goes into 'starvation' mode and slows down your metabolism to conserve energy. Good luck!

Welcome! I second LisaRussell27's sentiments!

Excellent sources of low-cal protein include fish/seafood, greek yogurt, beans, and lentils. Good luck!

Breckgirl If you want flavored Greek-style yogurt without corn syrup, try Chobani. It doesn't have corn syrup or artificial sweeteners in it. The sugar count is somewhat high on the flavored varieties, but if you go with plain there is very little sugar (just the naturally occurring sugars from the milk). You can easily…

You could try something like a couple handfuls of salted mixed nuts. If it's the salty crunch you're craving that might help, and you'd be doing yourself a lot of good by giving your body a good source of protein, fiber, and heart-healthy fats. A slightly less healthy option might be the Terra brand of chips. They're a…
