^Solid advice. I was going to recommend box squats also. Remember to keep your weight in your heels- don't lean back to do so, just make sure all of your weight isn't on your toes to prevent falling forward. When you squat, do so slowly- look down and see if your knees are falling in front of your toes, you want your knees…

Amen Sista! I disagree with the comment about having at least a year of experience, I don't think having less than that should deter someone if it's what they want to do.

Some of the best and most competitive physiques that I've stepped on stage with happen to qualify for the Masters divisions. Matter of fact, my biggest competition in my last show was a woman in her 40's- I got 1st, she got 2nd. Muscle maturity is a thing.

I'm pretty astounded seeing this coming from a Mod. But ANYWAYS. Doing shows is one of the most unique experiences you will ever have, and if you are committed to it, it can be very rewarding. My last show (granted, I am Figure) I was around 9% body fat. My cut was 12 weeks of carb cycling diet-wise and I did 15-20 minutes…

You should try exercise band pull-ups. You wrap a band around the pull up bar and stretch it down to your feet and it gives you a little assistance (Google Image it, it's hard to explain!). As you get better you can use weaker and weaker bands for less resistance. Also, the negative pull-ups are awesome!

Another one for Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey. All of the flavors I've had are delicious (double rich chocolate, banana creme, mocha cappuccino, vanilla, cake batter <---BEST). I also use About Time's Whey powder when I'm close to a show because of the low sodium/filler content- they have a pretty legit product on…

This sounds absolutely delicious! Nice to see something other than "pumpkin-spice" everything in one of these threads! :) What temp/time/method do you use for roasting your pumpkin?

If you're going to get specialty/house rolls then it's better to guestimate the ingredients and log them individually if you're trying to be specific. I usually get salmon/tuna/avocado or something of the sort so it's relatively easy to log. But when I'm feeling froggy, my favorite local sushi place has a house roll called…

Sounds like a plan, Jan. :drinker:

References to snow and/or cold just made me a little sad and is an unwelcome reminder that summer is almost over

Another 20-something (25!) stuck in the cube farm. Graduated college in 2011, started my Graphic Design job almost immediately after (hooray for that!). Saw how unhealthy everyone in the office was/is and decided that wasn't going to be me. Rewind a couple years to still being in college- I lived on "Main Street" where all…

Throw in some braided pig-tails and we have how I spent the first 10 years of my life

I was just diagnosed with colon cancer on June 2 of this year. Come June 17 I was in the hospital for 6 days after getting a foot of my colon removed. NO physical activity for at least two months ("Well you can walk at around 2mph on the treadmill for about 20 minutes a day."....seriously?). I'm just now able to lift the…

If you can get milled flax seed, it's pretty easy to incorporate into foods- it's ground up so you don't have the chunky seeds in your food. I use it in protein shakes, smoothies, pancakes, oatmeal, banana breads... Usually carb-y things with a sweet or strong taste

Lol. Ditto.

You don't need to mix *everything* in a blender... Just put the oats in the blender by themselves to make a "flour" out of them

I noted in the original post that it comes out more dense than regular bread because of the eggs. If it had the consistency of pudding I'm assuming it wasn't cooked through. You can grind up the oats beforehand to create oat(-ish) flour. Also, if it seems a little dry, cover it with plastic wrap over night- it becomes a…

My favorites---- Mix verde salsa & hot sauce in with some non-fat plain greek yogurt and use as cracker/veggie dip. Combine a half can of white shredded chicken breast with non-fat greek yogurt and Frank's hot sauce and put on crackers/toast/veggies. Tastes like buffalo chicken dip  Top a banana with some peanut…

25, single, no babies- furry or otherwise. I'm not home enough for either. To be honest, kids annoy the crap out of me. Love me some fur babies, though  Feel free to add me! :drinker:

Winner.

I understand that compared to what you used to do, Body Pump is strength training to you. But -speaking from experience- you aren't going to get legitimate muscle growth from it. It is a resistance cardio workout, it builds endurance, not muscle. You may get slight muscle/strength gains in the beginning, but there is only…

If it fits into your day, then it's not "bad" for you. Personally, I usually get a double chicken salad with ALL of the veggies and sweet onion dressing on the side. YUM-o.

Scrambled topped with cottage cheese, garlic powder and tomato sauce. Sounds weird, but it's AWESOME. And full of protein. I also sometimes top them with salsa, taco seasoning and sliced almonds instead of the sauce/garlic powder.
