OMGosh...how cute are you! (love the hair)

It is hard but so worth it. I was not one of the lucky ones who lost weigh with minimal effort. I did it by counting calories/protein/fat/carbs. It was not easy. Nor was maintenance easy. I got lazy, fell back into old habits and gained weight. Losing it was not easy but I was determined to not fail. I was always…

pawoodhull - not sure if it helps or hurts but I have not exercised hard, nor consistently. In fact, I could be considered sedentary. It's calories in/calories out, protein, protein, protein. (at least for me)

My surgeon and program never used that statistic. My thought is that there is no science to back it up, but rather, more of a "set expectations" for WLS patients. Or perhaps it's an individual goal, based on your starting weight and what the medical field calls "success" for tracking and insurance company purposes. My…

Weight-loss Surgery, Nutrition and Hair Loss by Jacqueline Jacques, ND To view a PDF version of this article, click here. Typically, about 90 percent of hairs are anagen (in a growth phase) and 10 percent are telogen (in a dormant or resting phase) at any given time, meaning you are usually losing a lot less hair than you…

I would ignore the MFP calorie goal. You have been successful so far and satisfied on the number of calories you have been eating. My surgeon put everyone on high protein, very low carb eating plan for pre surgery weight loss. I was on less than 1000 calories a day with 85-100 grams of protein and less than 50 carbs a day.…

I posted about this in one of the other hair loss threads. The only thing that has ever worked for me is Journey Hair Balance capsules. I lost a ton of hair when I was on Medifast years ago. I tried biotin and every other product and nothing stopped the hair loss. But the Journey vitamins really help. It's worth a try.…

Yup, I get that. But to me, using that term does a disservice to Sleevers. If the intent is to get back to basics (and not too sure what this means as it's different for everyone), my personal preference is to call it just that. (Sorry to derail this thread and good luck getting back on track spunkymist :) )

Holy Crap...You look great (and must feel amazing!) Well Done!

Technically, as sleevers, we don't have "pouches". Gastric bypass results in what is commonly referred to as a pouch.

Sammers - have you looked at the Synthrax Nectar protein powders? I still use them today and I'm 3.5 years post surgery. My favorite is the capucchino. I mix one packet (23 gms protein) with 8oz of decaf coffee. Throw in a bunch of ice and it tastes like yummy ice coffee. Zero carbs, Zero sugar. 90 calories I buy it in the…

3.5 years out. I can chug, guzzle etc as I could pre -sleeve. However, only on an empty stomach.

About 10 years ago, I did Medifast and lost alot of weight. At the 5 month mark, I started losing a lot of hair. So much it was coming out in large, long pieces in the shower. Clogging the shower drain etc. My dr told me it was due to low carb/calories and quick weight loss. She suggested I supplement with biotin. I took…

Lori, you can do this. Losing weight is 90% mental. Meaning you need to make a conscious effort to make good choices. Personally, I didn't have an automatic huge loss after being sleeved. I didn't allow myself to think I could eat anything and everything but in smaller servings. I needed to focus on protein, keep my carbs…

Amazing! Well done woman :) (look at your waist!!!)

You look fantastic (and happy :) )

Canned tuna fish, canned chicken, plain greek yogurt, grilled turkey (I make it by taking turkey cutlets and grilling it into bit size pieces). Perhaps boring but it's easy, high protein and doesn't take much thought :)
-
YES YES YES to everything you said!
-
Keeping my carbs under 30 grams daily is the only way I can keep my hunger under control. (and I am 3 and a half years post surgery). When I was actively losing, my calories averaged 7-800 per day. Now that I'm maintaining, I rarely go over 1100 a day.
-
CONGRATULATIONS for being able to throw out your large clothes!!! Doesn't it feel great?
-
Belledebut - hang in there. I am 3.5 years out and it's not easy but you can do this. I lost, maintained, regained and recently lost the 45 lbs i regained. I found that going back to basics worked for me. - 1. Dense protein first. Turkey, chicken etc. No drinking with my meals. - 2. I keep my carbs under 35 a day. This…

You are an inspiration with a capital INSPIRE! Well done girl, you look amazing.

Weekly. The daily fluctuations cause me too much stress. So I decided to stick with Saturday morning. My routine is to get up, pee, weigh naked, log my weight :)
-
I found that Nectar is the easiest to mix. That being said, I bought a baby bottle battery operated mixer and it is a miracle product. The best $7.00 I ever spent. I carry one everywhere, even today being 3.5 years post surgery. There are many different brands but here is a link to one. If you google hand held baby bottle…

Best wishes! You will be so happy you made this decision :)
