I had/have a crush on Eddy Gordo since the late 90s. After dropping so much weight last year, I actually looked up capoeira classes and joined one! Best geek crush with most surprising benefit ever!

I guess I should say hi too! Hi!!! Not sure about my super power... hm, maybe that I can drop every single item I might hold in my hand?
-
Me too!! I can't deal with all the zombie stuff. Creepy and scary!
-
Ha! Happens to me all the time!!! I notice in the shower. Good thing they are water proof!

I agree a heart rate monitor needs a chest strap to be accurate. Best thing ever for counting calories burned! You won't notice the chest strap after a couple of minutes. I don't have any problems with cleaning it. Just follow instructions. Fitbit, Jawbone's Up etc is great for all day tracking. Though I wouldn't rely on…

I would love to be rich enough to hire a personal trainer. We have a small (unconventional) gym here and the trainer seems to be really good. $100/hr is understandable considering downtown rent etc. but unfortunately not something I can afford.

I don't think either will replace a heart rate monitor at all. The step tracking is limited and not accurate enough. HRM is the only way to go in my opnion but I only wear it for workouts, not all day. That's where the Up comes into play...

Jawbone's UP is not available right now. They have problems with the bracelet and are working on a fix. I never had the fitbit but the Up is awesome! When it works, that is. The killer feature of the Up is the smart wake. The fitbit tracks your sleep too but the Up has a feature that gently wakes you. You can set the alarm…

Hehe, I agree!

I workout barefoot unless I run or bike. I am doing capoeira which is barefoot anyways and just found that working out feels way better barefoot than with shoes. I feel more grounded. I also do workout DVDs at home barefoot. and my yoga class is barefoot anyways. I joined a Zumba class last week and was wearing shoes. Very…

Awwww, I love Fjordies!!!

I find that working out is the cure to sore muscles!

You bet I am not going back to being vegetarian. I love the American Ranchers too and the Albertan even more so :-) (I am actually living on a cattle ranch right now and love it!!)

That is exactly the situation I was in about 2 years ago. I say try it. If you are already flirting with the thought. Why not? I started out ages ago for ethical reasons too but realized that I can choose what meat I buy i.e. where it comes from and how it was treated. I figured I try and see how I like it and how I feel…

From my experience (I was a vegetarian for 20 years): YES!!! It is tough to lose weight without meat in my opinion. I was class 2 obese even during my vegetarian years and did eat healthy. Just too much and especially too many carbs. It is way easier to eat a full meal with a good level of calories when you eat and reduced…

Thanks everybody for posting these pictures. Huge motivation! I have a few quotes I like: Clear Eyes, Full Heart, Can’t Lose (FNL) (don't know who said these:) The sweat you see when working out is the fat crying Pain is just weakness leaving the body I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. Success is not…

quesadilla sounds like a great idea too! I made the jerk chicken ones today and they are great. I also made some with pizza filling (tomato sauce, bacon, spices, herbs, mozzarella) and some sweet ones with a greek yogurt & jell-o pistachio pudding filling. Both turned out great!
-
Made some chicken in jerk marinade in the slow cooker today. Going to make some jerk chicken rolls tomorrow with some mozzarella.
-
Did somebody try to freeze them (wrappers only as well as filled and cooked rolls) for later? Eat them cold? Reheat?
-
I made those chicken buffalo ones and they were great. Love the idea of portable snacks! I want to try bell peppers, ground beef and brie!
-
I made pumpkin pie jam! Just use the canned pumpkin instead of fruit (You might need to add some water to thin it a bit). Add pumpkin pie spice and (optional) some chopped pecans! It turned out fantastic. Now I can have pumpkin pie for breakfast, on bread or in my yogurt.

Believe me you can lose weight even when you are over by a bunch every day.

Losing weight is mostly what and how much you eat. Exercise is great but don't overdo it especially when you have injuries already. You definitely need to eat more when you work out that much i.e. reduce your workouts. Why don't you start eating what's suggested here on MFP and then add some lighter exercise. See how you…

Totally not the case. You can lose weight when you are vegetarian no doubt but it is way easier when you eat meat! I was a vegetarian for 20 years and obese the whole time. I did try to lose weight and I did but it was very hard. You need a lot of carbs to keep the energy up and feel full. I am back eating meat (great…

You can add me if you are interested. We mostly eat food prepared from scratch. If you see some interesting ingredients on my diary, just ask and I can give you the recipe. Most of the stuff is quick on weekdays and/or sometimes cooked in batches and frozen.

I just hit goal and I will definitely weigh in regularly (daily and track weekly). There won't be a chance I let it slip without noticing! I have those dreams too and I think it will take a while to fully grasp the fact that I am at a normal weight now. The mind has not caught up yet!

I tried that too but I lost so much weight on my wrist! How can that be a real measurement if you even lose weight on your wrists? I can't go from a large to a small frame.

Welcome to MFP! I just sent you a friend request :-)
