  • I've been a member of the SwBkRun group for a couple of years, lots of good advice and experienced people on there, feel free to join us! David
  • I fell over the first day I got my bike! The shop had left the bike in a big gear and I set off up my steep driveway and quickly stalled and down I went! It actually hurt more than I was expecting. I haven't had a problem since, I was told to clip out by twisting your heel out away from the bike, seems to work well for me.…
  • I did a sprint in February to get me back into training after Christmas and I've got an Oly on 25 March - Mooloolaba Triathlon. My cyclings been my weak discipline so I'm working on that. I looked back through my logs and I just wasn't putting enough bike time in before, I find running much more appealing!
  • I like to do some triple-bricks once a week for the last 2 or 3 weeks before an Oly, 25km bike, 5km run x 3. I find I actually look forward to the run during these because the bike segments are all at hard effort.
  • I'm a big fan of youtube videos for watching swimming technique but the problem is that you have to watch the right ones!!! If you want to sprint 50 or 100m fast then you kick hard and swim flat. Obviously we need to swim much further and then get out and bike/run. Triathletes need to learn from endurance swimmers not…
  • Hi, I'm David. I'm 44 and live in Queensland, Australia. I got into triathlons last year and have been running and ocean swimming for a few years. I'm also a surf lifesaver. My main weakness is my cycling but I'm determined to get that sorted in the next 6 months. Looking forward to hearing what everyone is getting up to!

  • As I understand it, you'll have a basic calorie requirement per day that your body will burn up just sitting around doing your normal everyday activities (including breathing, basic metabolism etc). For me that's 2110 cals as an office-based male, 6 foot tall and 76kg. Add on any exercise and that increases your daily…
  • I'm in my second triathlon season, I've done some sprints and an Oly so far. I used to swim and run and added cycling last year after someone said I should give triathlons a go. My weight is now in the ideal range and I've never felt fitter so I'm hooked on tri training now! Send me friend invite! David
  • Hi, First post! I'm lucky enough to be at my healthy weight but I'm using MFP to help keep track of nutrition. What I've found so far is that I'm not taking in enough calories to match my daily needs, especially if I do any exercise. Yesterday I was over 2000 calories under! Any suggestions? I don't really want to just…
