  • I like mayo and find that it helps boost my calories if I'm a little low. Butter, margarine or oil would probably work the same way. I don't think it's a big problem if you eat 600 calories under your goal for a few days in a row, but I'd try to not make too much of a habit of it. I found my biggest problem was keeping my…
  • Welcome to the MFP club. I've also been a member for a while, but only really started using this in the past week or so. Let's do this and lose the fat.
  • My name is Jason. I'm not as ambitious as you, so I'll say my goal is to be down another 15lbs, but also to have run 5k at least once and to still be working out at the gym. Costume: Superdad. Not sure what that would entail, but it sounds fun.
  • I did Weight Watchers for a while, without paying. I went to one or two meetings and got the initial pamphlets and things and then just continued on my own. And, maybe it's because I'm a man, but I never really found the meetings all that motivating. If you want to do weight watchers, why not try that and use MFP as your…
  • I hope this doesn't come out the wrong way (I'm not trying to insult) but, if you're not a vegetarian, then what's the problem? Who says what's the "leftover" part of the meat. An animal is an animal and humans eat many different varieties of animals. Now, if they injected the pig with some sort of gelatin enhancing…
  • Awesome. What a difference.
  • I've, thankfully, never had to have surgery, but my advice would be to give yourself the time you need to fully heal. Eat what your body needs (doctor orders) and set dates in your calendar to reevaluate. Decide on October 15th whether you're ready to get back on the horse. If you're not feeling it, set another date on…
  • I may be biased, since I'm doing low carb, but bacon. It's low in sugar and a couple of (low-sodium) slices has about 220 calories. EDIT: And, if you're just starting out, 13 pounds pounds in 11 days isn't too fast. Things should level off pretty soon, unless you're eating well under (many hundreds of calories under) your…
  • If you're still looking for ways to up your calories, I like mayonnaise and I put it on whatever fits. It's almost pure fat and it tastes great on lots of things. A tablespoon is 90 calories with 10g of fat.
  • I've never tried this, but maybe you could replace the peanut butter in this recipe with some of your protein powder. You'd probably need to adjust the liquid in the recipe as well. http://emilysfoodporn.tumblr.com/post/29522764157/its-rainy-gross-in-new-york-city-and-when-i-got
  • I find mayonnaise helps in keeping fat calories up. In fact, sometimes I go a little overboard. I've been logging for only a couple of days, but I seem to be closer to 70% fat. Pounds are melting off, though.
