I've been away from MFP for over 6 months, and in that time managed to gain 50 pounds. I started back last week and once again in control. I've already gone through menopause, and I know it's not easy. Just take it one day at a time (sometimes one hour at a time). Things do get better, so don't give in. Good luck!

"going over" on protein is only relevant to people with renal/kidney disease. If no one in your family has problems, you probably won't either. Shoot for about 1 gm protein per lean body weight, to prevent muscle loss through diet.

No help with the food selection, except to say soft foods (but you already knew that). I will say stay away from sugary foods. the sugar can cause a really bad infection.
