Mission accomplished! JFT (9/2): - I will drink 8 cups of water (two days in a row)

Today I am grateful that I didn't give in to office drama, which in turn made me realize I must be doing something right. Accomplishments: I drank 8 cups of water, went back to the gym, and ate healthy!

Today I said no to an unhealthy lunch and made a healthy one instead!

Congrats on your new job! And good luck!

Today I am grateful that I found this thread and that I had time to work on some pending medical and financial paperwork. Today's accomplishments: prepping healthy lunches for today and tomorrow!

Hi all! I want to give this idea a try! So since I usually check MFP late in the evening, I will tweak this a little so it works for me. I will do "just for tomorrow" instead. Just for tomorrow (9/1): - I will drink 8 cups of water Baby steps :)
-
Hi all! Feel free to add me!

This looks interesting! I would like to join :)

I guess it all depends on your schedule and what options you have available. A balanced approach usually works the best for me. I do 2 days of weights, 2 days of cardio, 1 day of circuit training (half weights, half cardio), 1 rest day (do nothing), and 1 day of either yoga or rest. On very busy weeks, I try my best to at…

I use Mint's website too and it's very helpful for setting a budget and knowing where the money is going!

A woman does not need a male savior to teach her the way (I guess the whole "women listen up" and "women are like this and that" rubbed me off the wrong way). Maybe your wife does not need you to tell her what to do, but instead needs you to support her. Just share the road with her, with its ups and downs. Compliment her…

HRM is the way to go, it will give you the most accurate reading.

Not sure about the differences between them, but I bought the FT4 a few months ago and I'm very happy with it.

Yes, how long has been this plateau? Maybe the scale is still moving but at a much slower pace. With around 30lbs to lose, 1.5-2 lbs per week sounds more reasonable.

When I was going through some difficult times a few years ago, my workouts were the highlight of my day. I would feel so good during and after them. They helped tremendously and I think exercising was one of the reasons why I never went nuts lol. Good luck!

Careful, you might not be realizing how privileged you are. If you have never noticed how women and minorities struggle against certain stereotypes and things like the glass ceiling in the workplace, then maybe you live under a rock.

If you want to calculate the calories during a workout, get a Heart Rate Monitor with a chest strap (Polar makes good ones). They're usually quite accurate at calculating calories. If you want to know how many calories you burn during the day while doing your regular activities, then get a FitBit, Body Media, etc. Those…

I have a FitBit and a HRM. Don't know much about the Body Media though. I got my FitBit a couple weeks ago and I really like it so far. I have a desk job and it helps me become more active during the day; it also helps me determine my average TDEE and track my sleep. However, for most workouts a HRM is better since it will…

Good point, I didn't think about it that way. But I hope this is a case of benefits outweighing the costs and that it helps a bit in getting her the support she needs. ETA: I have deleted that part. Others quoting it might do so as well.

I'll play devil's advocate. For some reason I felt that there was more to this story, so I went over some of her posts and looking at her writing, she does sound younger than she actually is. She also says she doesn't get along with her father, and that her mother and grandma are not supportive of her weight loss. I think…

I haven't read the book and I have no intention at all to do so. I like gifs though, so I checked OP's link. That was a fun read lol

I joined SparkPeople over 5 years ago when I started to get serious about fitness and nutrition. I liked it a lot back then and as a newbie I learned a good deal of information and ran my first 5K. After that, the magic was sort of gone (plus their food tracker is not that user friendly). I used other random sites in the…

I don't know what gets me more. The lame sales pitch or the blatant sexism "women just need someone to rescue them". Give me a break!

Bartending might be an exception because it's a fun environment and all that. But it makes me mad when men call their female coworkers "babe", "hun", etc. Not okay! I'm your colleague, I'm not "sweetie" in the workplace. As said before, it all depends on the work environment.

I have yet to hear a guy talk about the thigh gap (either in a good or bad way). Thigh gap... I don't know, it seems like such a random thing to focus on lol.

Almost there! I'm 5'5.7''. I don't have an exact goal weight, but I want to get fit and lose the belly fat!
-
Lol, me too! :drinker:

Seriously. I can't believe there are 11 pages of the same thing. I don't agree with her and I don't like the tone of her post either, but geez, I think she got the point already.
