I do this as well. I weigh everyday and look for the decreasing trend. I only record on Saturday mornings.

I bought this one on amazon and it has worked great! I like the extra features and it has a super high rating from over 300 people. http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Capacity-Recognition-Technology/dp/B004L6NTHU/ref=dp_cp_ob_hpc_title_2/190-7372190-7241221 Regardless of the quality of the scale, to ensure accuracy I…

I got the FT60 for Christmas. I read this blog (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Azdak/view/the-real-facts-about-hrms-and-calories-what-you-need-to-know-before-purchasing-an-hrm-or-using-one-21472) and it guided me to products that I thought would be more accurate (VO2 issues). Anyway, I have only had it a short time, but…

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I read your blog a month or so ago and found it very useful and it set the direction for my search. In fact, it is the reason I selected the FT60. What you say about max heart rate makes logical sense. Over the days and weeks to come I will focus on this area and see how close I think…

Thanks for responding. Do you know which of these fall into the 3 zones used in the FT60?

Thanks for the reply. I have heard these things before. I clearly don't want to tear down muscle, but where are the carbs stored that would be utilized at higher intensity activity. Also, is it safe to assume that throughout the day after exercise, that more fat would be burned as consumed carbs are being replenished for…

What level of arrogance would that be to assume that in the vastness of space we are the ONLY intelligent life? There have to be. And I think it is entirely possible that they have been to this planet.

I have it in my left foot. It is much better now that I have lost almost 50lbs, but I still have it. I was walking 3-6 miles a day when mine flared up. Too much too soon I think. I switch to low impact exercise...mostly cycling. I ride my mountain bike (both off and on raod) and that has really helped keep the stress off…

My dog is a rescued 2 year old lab-mix (Pharoh hound we think). I bike, not run, at a park near our house and we will ride anywhere from 6-10 miles. 10 miles is probably my dogs limit. He is very well trained and I feel safer and more comfortable with him off leash (plus he loves chasing the rabbits into the bushes - not…

I was taught once that if your heart rate goes over a certain level, your body burns energy faster than it can convert fat so it has to go to the energy reserves stored within the muscles cells. What I don't remember, is at what point does that kick in?
-
But at what point do you burn from muscle reserves instead of fat reserves?

I joined MFP the first part of September 2011 when I weighed 293lbs. I had (and still have) an injured left foot that prevented me from any exercise that I had to be on my feet for. My oldest son really got into mountain biking so I bought one and started riding with him. We could only ride on the trails on the weekend so…
