  • I've done a few rounds of P90X and I've never used the Skakeology or Recovery drinks. I've stuck to basic protein shakes that I make on my own and I also use a recovery drink powder that I buy at a vitamin shop. I put it in my water when I do cardio workouts. After the weight training workouts I drink a glass of lowfat…
  • I have 5 lb, 7 lb, 10 lb and 15 lb weights. I also have some adjustable weights (with the weight plates) so I can move up in weight as I get stronger. In my previous rounds I was doing 20 lbs for most of the bicep and shoulder exercises.
  • Kenpo completed this morning and with it brings the end of week 1. Still don't know if I like Kenpo - in my previous rounds I ended up using some wrist weights to help with the intensity (and calorie burn). Scale did not budge but I know from experience that it won't move in the early part of the program. Keep at it and…
  • Legs & Back completed this morning. I forgot how tough this workout was. My legs were definately feeling it when I was done. Tried to push my self on the pullups. I'm waiting for the pullup assist kizmo to come in the mail. I'm determined to be able to do unassisted pullups by the end of this round.
  • Hi All. I started the classic round of P90X on Saturday. I've completed 2 rounds of P90X before and got great results. I got more into running (ran two 1/2 marathons) so I haven't done strength training for just about a year. My of my, how my strength has diminished. I have about 10 pounds to lose but I'm more interested…
  • I did my first half marathon in April 2006 (I can't remember my time). The next one I did was in October 2011. My chip time was 2:14:50. Not bad I thought. I am running the Disney Princess 1/2 next Sunday (I hope). I must have tweaked a muscle near my right hip socket early this week and I have alot of pain in this area so…
  • making these right now. can't wait to try one.
  • @stangma - nice car. I have a '94 GT red convertible. I only have 22,000 miles on it - my sunny day car.
  • Cleveland area. Go Tribe.
  • I did the zipline adventure when I was in Vegas in May. It is awesome. There are four ziplines that you go on. The first one was a little scary as I was overthinking what I had to do at the end of the line to stop. It was well worth the money in my opinion. It was pretty hot in May so I'm sure it will be extremely hot…
  • I've got two half's planned: One in October and one in February 2012. The October half is local and the February 2012 one is the Disney Princess. Official training starts in a couple of weeks but I've been running pretty consistently for a couple of months. I ran a half in 2008 but hurt my leg about 3 weeks prior to the…
  • I can vouch for this. It gets a little frustrating when you read about the "500 - 1000" calories burns that people are getting. The better shape you are in the longer it takes (and harder you have to work) to get your heart rate up.
  • I'm doing this one (already registered). I'm also doing a 1/2 in October 2011 so hopefully I'll be in pretty good shape for the Disney run. My sister and a bunch of her friends are doing the 5K on Saturday. I haven't convinced any of them to do the 1/2 with me yet.
  • Thanks for the input on the vitamins/supplements.
  • Just curious.... Do any of you take any special vitamins or supplements while you are training for a race?
  • I think this is true with every form of exercise (especially weight training). If you are trying measure your total daily calorie burn then I would think that you need to wear the HRM all day and then compare that burn to the burn your body achieves through normal activity. Not quite sure why you would need this precise of…
  • What a great thread. Glad to see there are people out there who are trying to lose weigh or get into shape but aren't giving up all their vices to achieve their goals. You have to live a little!!!!! I've been trying to cut the alchohol out during the week as well. So far so good this week. I'm heading to the beach for…
  • The only accurate way to measure your calorie burn is to use a heart rate monitor - preferably one with a chest strap. Using anything other than that is just a guess. IMO.
  • Hal Higdon's intermediate training schedule has the longest run at 12 miles. I guess adrenaline will get you past the extra 1.1 miles.
  • For my other HM that I ran, I followed the Hal Higdon schedule. I plan on following the intermediate schedule for the October HM. My HM training schedule includes some P90X strength sessions on my non-run days. Will see how that goes.
  • Training by the minute sounds interesting. I actually tend to do the same thing but eventually fall back to distance.
  • Hi everyone. Just stumbled upon this thread. I'm doing a HM in October and then another one in February 2012. I'm just finshing up a round of P90X/Cardio then I will start training for the October HM (official training starts July 18th). I generally workout in the morning (up at 5:00 a.m.). Too many distractions (and…
  • I'm 5'5" and weigh around 136. I agree that various brands fit different but I would say that I'm comfortable in a size 6 dress pant and I just bought some shorts from Landsend that were a size 4 (and are a little loose). :noway:
  • Max cardio is about 55 minutes long. I think the cardio abs adds another 16 minutes or so. I found the insanity "max" workouts just as intense as the month 1 workouts but they just add another interval round to them. Max cardio is one of my favorites. Definitely leaves you exhausted.
  • Thanks. The only problem is the beer in my hand is negating the calories I'm burning while I walk. :drinker:
  • Morning. Recovery week for me. Ran for 37 minutes (about 4 miles) then took my dogs for a quick walk. Didn't work out on Saturday. I could barely walk on Saturday morning after doing the circuit training I did on Friday. I realized I did 100 lunges with that workout. My legs were toast. I'm off to Vegas on Thursday night…
  • No workout this morning. My puppy did not cooperate with me by sleeping soundly last night. Did my circuit training at lunch today. I'm whipped. Good job everyone for keeping at it.
  • Thursday morning run completed. Felt a little sluggish but pushed through. 53 minutes, 5.25 miles and 474 calories burned. Nice job on the Turbo Jam. It's great to have great music while you're working out.
  • P90X shoulders and arms completed. Did this over lunch. Funny thing is that I was up and dressed and ready to go then I just didn't feel like workout out. Felt like I would do everything half way so I decided to bag it and do it at lunch. Glad I did as I either upped the weight or number of reps for almost of all the…
  • I used to suck at pushups as well. Practice, practice, practice.. Nice job this morning.
