I do think the holiday is bs and just a marketing ploy but I also love any reason to celebrate so I can take it or leave it. Attention and QT are definitely the most important - laughing, having fun together. If you are going to buy a gift don't go for the cliche usual's - or if you do get flowers they better be her…

Hi! I'm Patty. I just joined the "November Challenge - Jillian Michaels's Workouts" group and this group. I plan on doing a slightly modified 30DS (starting Monday 10/22) with a goal of finishing just before Thanksgiving. Then I plan on starting RI30 alternated with walking/jogging/elliptical through the end of the year. I…

A friend of mine just sent me this. Definitely seems worth a read before jumping right into "barefoot running". Good luck! http://www.npr.org/2012/05/23/153373701/happy-feet-tips-for-healthier-running

Thanks for this ^^^! I've never heard of that one. I've also heard that Tera's Whey & Beveri are good too (as far as whey that uses natural sweetener) but I have not tried them myself.

I love Jay Robb Whey Protein Powder. It has 25 grams of protein per serving, all natural, sugar free (made with stevia), rBGH free, easy to mix & super yummy. I usually mix it with almond milk and buy it from vitacost.com.

^^^ I agree ^^^ You are most likely addicted to sugar and the spike in glucose when you eat bread. I also LOVE bread and am a bread/carb/sugar addict. I quit sugar, fruit, dairy (except plain Greek yogurt), grains, alcohol, most processed foods etc. (pretty much anything that converts to sugar in the body) for 3 months. I…

Plain Greek yogurt with chia & hemp seed, cinnamon & berries. Sometimes I add pumpkin or sunflower seeds. Sometimes I add almond butter or sunbutter. Broccoli (heavy on the stems) sauteed in coconut oil with an over easy egg or two on top.

You're doing great and should be proud of yourself. This isn't an easy change to make. It will get easier though. "One more day" doesn't seem so hard when you've already gotten through so many. For me, not having fruit was the hardest, so once you add that back in you should be much happier. Keep up the great work! Also,…

I agree with nsblue that moderation is key. For now, I would stay away from all sugar substitutes though. Once you aren't craving the sweet sensation I think it is safe to allow yourself things that contain substitutes in moderation. Also, natural sugar substitutes such as xylotol and stevia can have some health benefits…

You can do this!!! I am addicted to sugar and I have something called candida overgrowth which made me have to give up ALL sugar (carbs, fruit, dairy, alcohol - anything that turned into sugar in the body). I started with a fast/cleanse and I think it really helped get the sugar out of my system so I wasn't craving it.…

Thanks! This is awesome and so helps with my minor OCD. :D

Hi everyone. I'm Patty. I got really serious about being healthy and quit sugar this past January. I have been more lenient with my diet since Easter and have maintained but haven't been losing. I am back to a no sugar diet starting today and I just finished an elliptical version of c25k on Friday. I'm going to start…

I read this blog all the time. There is so much useful information about hormones and recipes to help fight disease. Hope you find it useful too. http://mariahealth.blogspot.com/#uds-search-results

I also use less water than called for. I like fluffy oats. Have you ever tried soaking your oats overnight (in water with splash of apple cider vinegar)? You rinse them in the morning and cook them like you normally would. I've also just soaked them for a half hour or so if I forget the night before. I do this and it helps…

My husband eats yogurt all the time with his cooked oatmeal and loves it. We also add partially cooked (nuked with water in the microwave for 30 sec) oatmeal to our smoothies that contain yogurt. I say, go for it! You'll probably like it.

Here's a pretty through article about it... http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/low-carb-dieter-beware-soy-based-body-by-vi-visalus-protein-shake-mixes-not-a-panacea/12336

Agree with all of the previous posts. Feel great and am losing weight. Don't even miss the junk. I'm technically on the anti-candida diet cause I'm having some health issues but it is very close to primal and I plan to transition to primal once my body is balanced again.
