I use Nike Plus on my iPhone 5 with very accurate results! I have also used Runkeeper with about the same accuracy. I agree that the run could have been short...I've done a couple 5ks that ended up under 3 miles.

Before running my marathon in July, I read the ideal mileage on a pair of shoes for race day is 35-40 miles...I can't remember if that was specifically for a full marathon or any race. I curse my big calves frequently...although I have heard people say good sized calf muscles can mean you're less likely to get shin splints, so there's that. Anyway, yes, I did notice a small reduction in my calf size...about 1 1/2 inches total I would say, and I've lost about 15 lbs.

I'm 5' exactly and am hanging in there at 105...which was my original goal. For awhile I was thinking I wanted to go lower but I'm starting to wonder. Wow, thanks everybody...lots of methods to choose from it looks like!! I will definitely check out Runkeeper and MapMyRun...between those and a stopwatch I should save myself the cost of a GPS watch/smartphone, etc.

Ran my first half marathon today! Finished in 1 hr. 54 min. 6 seconds...not bad for me. :) So 13 miles today, 131 MTD. :)
