From the little I know, 5 - 7 lb in a week is good for a person, so I wouldn't be discouraged on that point. I think if you lost 5lb in Oct, that's pretty good! Just think, in November, it'll be totalling 10. In December, 15. You'll be skin and bones 6 months from now.

At the end of the day, a Mt. Dew is pretty low on the list of bad things to be addicted to. If you can stay on track and have one once in a while, I would go for it. I wouldn't skimp on healthy eating just so you have room for one, but otherwise... why not?

I'm reluctant partially because of the projected 10lb weight gain that supposedly goes with it. I think I will make my weight target first, then give quitting a whirl (again). If I do gain 10 lb, it won't be so bad as if I gained it now. Plus, I will have already proven to myself that I can get back to the target weight!
