My thoughts exactly! I'm a slow loser too. I've been on MFP for almost a year and 6 months and I've lost 41 pounds. I thought that I'd be further along than this, but I'm trying to focus on how far I've come overall instead of the number on the scale. I'm going to tell you the same thing that people tell me: keep doing…

Yes. I've reduced and increased. That's what's so frustrating.

Well, it doesn't make much sense to me because I think higher intensity = more calories burned = more weight loss. It's possible that maybe I need to eat more on the days I workout. It's weird though because one week I'll eat more and lose weight, the next week I'll eat the same amount and either gain or stay the same. I'm…

Yep, same here. I'm losing a ton of inches though, so that's what really matters. Hopefully the scale will eventually show us some love.

Thanks for all your help. Maybe I need to increase my calories instead of decreasing them. I take measurements and have body fat testing done in addition to weighing myself. The good news is that even though I'm not losing weight, I'm still losing inches and my body fat percentage continues to go down. I guess in the long…

I completely understand where you are coming from. I'll lose about 10 pounds, then I'll stop losing for a month or two. Then I'll lose 10 more, and stop for a month or two. I've been on my weight loss journey for a year and I've lost 37 pounds. Yes, that's a lot of weight, but in a year's time I thought I would be further…

If he is mostly intelligible, he probably won't qualify for speech services in the schools. Talk to his pediatrician and have him/her refer you to a private practice. As many children there are that have speech problems, I'm sure he/she has a list of reputable speech pathologists.

I'm not a parent, but I'm a graduate student in speech-language pathology and will soon graduate, so I think I can provide some insight here. You made the right move by making an appointment with the ENT. He/she will be the person who can identify whether or not your son will need tubes in his ears. I'm sure they will…

Skinny Cow has been a life saver for me! I love the cones and the ice cream sandwiches, especially the strawberry shortcake sandwich, cookies and cream, and the best of both swirled. I'll have to try the peanut butter ones since everybody loves those too.

I know exactly what you mean. College campuses are terrible about not having healthy choices; but I also understand that they make what most people buy and they have to make money. Most cafeterias have microwaves, so you could pack some leftovers from the night before if you want something warm. When I don't know what to…

Hi Ellen! You'll do great in undergrad. Just give 100% every day. Being a research assistant is a great opportunity and will give you a leg up when you take your childhood language class. As far as getting into grad school, my advice is to get involved in as much as you can in school (continue research, NSSLHA officer,…

Ditto! If you want to be successful, you have to make this your life. You're not going to eat clean for the rest of your life, so learn how to indulge in moderation. And don't beat yourself up when you don't eat the right things.

Are you drinking 8-10 cups of water a day? If not, I recommend increasing your water intake. That's what I did after a 6 week plateau and I've been losing consistently since then. I never understood why it was so important to drink water. Now, I'm a firm believer in the water.

Bump! Sounds delicious!

Cybex Arc Trainer and Zumba. When I don't know what to do, I always go for either of those.

Welcome to all the newbies! Feel free to add me. My name is Renee and I'm a full time graduate student. I'm getting my masters in speech-language pathology. Yesterday was the first day of my last year of school. Woo hoo!!! I'd love to support and encourage each of you.

Bump! Sounds good!

I love small victories like this! Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Drinking water is definitely beneficial. I just recently started drinking 8 cups and it helped me come off of a 6 week plateau. I never realized how important water is until now. So drink up!

This is exactly what I do. I've found that planning is the key. There's no reason you can't go out and enjoy yourself if you plan for it. You might even suggest a restaurant that you know you can make a healthy choice. I allow myself one treat a week and it helps me to stay on track. Here's my motto for the weekends: If…

My advice would be to forget the scale for awhile and take measurements. You may not be losing weight because you're increasing muscle mass, but you're still losing fat. I have just come off a 6 week plateau, and even though I didn't lose any weight during those 6 weeks, I lost 2% body fat and 4 inches. I know the scale is…

I definitely have been treated differently. One time I lost 50 pounds and people were a lot friendlier to me and suddenly wanted to hang out with me more. Also, once I started gaining the weight back, they didn't want to hang out with me as much. This was especially true with people from the church. Nobody has ever been…

I guess my main reason is because I'm almost 25 and I've never been in a relationship. I'm ready to date and get married before I'm 30. I've always thought that guys won't give me a chance because of my weight even though I have an awesome personality. Also, now more than ever, it's about my health. High blood pressure…

Bump. This is awesome!

Cinnamon rolls and red velvet cake are the only 2 things that taste as good as skinny feels. Gosh, I haven't had a cinnamon roll in forever!! Yum!

PCOS is becoming more and more common, and the good news is that it's easy to manage. I have PCOS and I don't take metformin and I don't have any blood sugar issues. Mine is controlled with birth control pills. I have had a weight problem all of my life, and yes it has been hard for me to lose weight. But through joining…

My goal is 91 pounds. Feel free to add me if you like.

Good for you! Welcome to MFP! I have a lot to lose too. Feel free to add me. :)

I don't know about the cardio machines, but on the weight lifting machines, there are usually instructions on how to properly do the exercise right on the machine. That is how I learned when I first started at the gym. If you're still confused, you can always ask one of the employees or another member. Usually people are…
