  • Oh! And chia or flax seeds added!
  • 1-2 cups almond milk 2 cups spinach 1 cup berries 1 inch ginger Mint leaves
  • Dragonwolf... Good point. BMI definitely isn't everything. I do like the idea of strength training and I am pretty weak right now, so starting simple might be a good idea for me. Thanks for the ideas!
  • Dragonwolf, that is such an excellent article!

  • You're going to get a lot of people telling you to eat the real thing on this thread. I kind of agree! However, I have tried cauliflower pizza out of medical necessity (also not eating grains). It's pretty good! It is NOT like eating regular pizza, so you sort of have to know you are eating a different food. My husband…
  • When I'm sore from exercising, light exercise (like walking around a bit) can help unstiffen my muscles. I find with yoga that I DO feel better if I go back after a day or two, but be careful not to push yourself too hard!
  • I am not low carb by the definition of so many here, but I am much lower carb than I used to be. Because I eat vegetarian (so many of my protein sources are starchy), I do not eat any grains right now. A couple weeks ago, I was taking an antibiotic and ate a LOT more sugar than I normally would in order to get some…
  • I didn't read all this, but I see no reason to follow a low sugar/low carb diet unless you must. I must and it is hard! That being said, it is impossible to cut all sugar from your life. There are sugars in vegetables and nearly everything you eat. In order to lower it, you should set a guideline for what is an acceptable…
  • I would absolutely bring veggies. Baby carrots (or even just carrot sticks) Peas in the shell salad Celery and peanutbutter Kale chips Nuts Chia Pudding Chia seed drinks Cheese Soups corn and bean salad homemade muffins (to lighten the calories--muffins can be dangerously high for me) sandwiches pastas It definitely…
  • Check out the ladies on P.C.O.SIS There are a lot of different and varied solutions, but a number of commonalities in our diets. Lower-low carb, low sugar. You'll have to decide what you think is best for you and what is possible for you to accomplish. I would also recommend asking a dietitian/nutritionist and/or your…
  • It doesn't go away. You will always have PCOS, but eating right and exercising can definitely help balance your hormones. Some need medication to help as well. You can have a baby! My doctor said my body was made for a reproductive endocrinologist. Some are able to get pregnant simply by treating PCOS. Some need more help.…
  • There's a PCOS group called P.C.O.SIS I'd suggest looking it up because so many women on there are struggling with their weight with this diagnosis. Some are looking to get pregnant, but many are simply looking to better their health. My doctor suggested a diabetic-style diet (low carb, low sugar). I eat…
  • I've lost only 15 and I think THAT'S a big deal! Great work and that's super exciting about your chair!
  • To add to what's been said: seeds TVP (or other "meatless protein" source) I have trouble hitting the protein macro as well, but it doesn't concern me much. I think you can do it, though!
  • Yes! I have recently been consuming more sugar (which I haven't had much of due to a medical condition...please don't think I advocate no sugar for just people!) than normal. I'm super ravenous! Bottomless pit style! How did I survive this for so many years without becoming a balloon???
  • I found a cauliflower pizza that my husband and I both like! He's not a big fan of cauliflower, but we tried it anyways. It's one of our new go-tos! (We just use the crust recipe and do whatever we want for the toppings) http://www.pcosnutrition.com/links/blogs/cauliflower-crust-pizza.html
  • There is a group called P.C.O.SIS that might be able to help you. I also have PCOS, but when my blood work improved from diet alone, my doctor didn't recommend Metformin just yet. There may be a difference in how you would treat this if you were insulin resistant PCOS or non insulin resistant PCOS. I'm not sure and…
  • You can do it!!!

  • I eat vegetarian and mine hasn't regulated to my diet yet. Now that I'm eating lower carb, I'm hoping that might help.

  • I buy miso paste from the Asian grocer. If you use that, you want to add if last so the bacteria from the fermentation helps your gut! (At least, that's what I've heard)

  • I like most veggies, myself. I'd say, keep trying them and find a few you love so you can use those often. I really love my veggies roasted. If you want to add a few into your diet but not change much, chop them up small and then add them to what you normally eat. You could add chopped bell pepper into your burger meat.…
  • Roasted veggies stuffed portabello mushrooms (stuffed with black beans, cilantro, chili powder, and may be a touch of parmasan) stuffed bell peppers (perhaps with a spiced lentil mix?) zucchini noodles with avocado/lemon sauce (or pasta sauce...whatever floats your boat!) soup of almost every variety (thai carrot with…
  • I pretty much started becoming vegetarian because of my student diet! I was in grad school and buying meat was just more than my wallet could handle. I will admit, I am definitely not vegan although I've tried to cut my cheese a bit (still working on that one). I do use eggs in my diet quite often. Almost every day. Rice…
  • I live in one of the fittest states in the US and in a super young, college town. Everyone here is super fit! My family is always surprised when they visit me. Truly...it's nice, but sometimes I feel so out of place for being about average rather than super fit and thin! I love it, though! Can't wait for the weather to…
  • My brother hated peanut butter until about high school. I think it is an acquired taste for many. Although we had an exchange student once that tried it and brought home 4 jars! My husband actually likes peanut butter with corn tortillas... Interesting we all have different tastes!
  • Nut butter is actually easy to make if you have the right tools! I bet you could make walnut butter. I use my food processor and let it run for a while until the nuts turn into butter. I've heard if it's too dry, you should add a little oil, but I've never had to do that. Also, creamy all the way!
  • Whatever you eat for dinner, eat leftovers! I eat roasted veggies, nut butters, chia seed pudding (with no sweetener or banana to sweeten...do not use a lot of banana--it's pretty high sugar/carb), I recently made this awesome carrot soup, but I do like soup for breakfast. Yum!
