  • It all starts with the desire to make a change. I took pictures when I first started but was too embarrassed to show them to anyone. It is a hard time of year to try to lose weight but even if you didn't gain weight this time of year, that's a good start too. I just started again after a two year break. I've gained all my…
  • You're probably right. I just hurt worse than after any work out. Lol
  • Most people who do this aren't celiac. I think if you're going to go to the trouble, you might as well do it right or your results may not actually be right. I know it's hard but better to do it the best you can.
  • Unfortunately, I was anorexic in high school. My family made a huge deal about it then as one would imagine. I come fr an overweight family as well. These days I eat, I'm just super picky about what I eat. No one says anything to me anymore.
  • I don't know if I'm motivational. Lol but I am motivated to re-lose all he weight i previously lost on here. Add me if you like.
  • I'm 36 and starting over again too. I had been active on here two years ago when I met my goals but while I was gone, I moved cross country and then moved to another state just a month ago. I also got sick and have been diagnosed with two autoimmune disease in the last two months. The medication intake for one of them…
  • Concentrate on your foods then. And maybe try swimming/water arebics or some low impact movement like that.
  • I'd be up for it. I have gained back the 30 lbs I lost while I was using MFP last (a couple years ago). We moved and I didn't leave near a grocery store and didn't have money to travel so I ate a lot of junk that was shelf stable rather than the veggies I was accustomed to. I no longer fit into my clothes. I have a coat, a…
  • I am vegetarian, almost vegan but I do have eggs and honey on occasion. I have had great results feeling better eating this way. But I don't use meat replacements or most vegan packaged foods. Just good old fruits and veggies.
  • What do you consider north Georgia? I often bike in Dacula and north/east of there and find the roads are not too crowded. I feel pretty safe on the majority of those roads.
  • I'll have to look for some of that chamois butter. I've been riding for 13 years but never tried any. As an update, I put another paver under my wheel and rode again...this time for longer. Now it feels more like a normal ride. Nothing was numb or tingling. It's amazing what a couple inches incline can do to a body! Still…
  • Well I guess I need to get a wheel block. I currently have a paver stone under the front wheel but maybe it's still lower than the back and I just didn't realize it. How do you readjust your trainer? I don't know if it actually would fall over...I guess I am just used to being able to rock it back and forth as I stand up…
  • I bring along only normal foods. Carrot sticks, apples, oranges, string cheese, dried fruits and nuts, homemade energy bars if I have them and I'll usually add something with bread in there but you mentioned you can't do bread. I don't eat sugar so anything premade (sports drinks & energy bars) is out for me. If it's a…
  • Lots of info here, thanks everyone! Let's see if I can answer the questions. My bikes are set up for my body. The one I prefer is a 40 pound touring monster. It's a Trek 520 with racks and fenders. I do also have a Trek 5200 carbon fiber bike which is, of course, much lighter but has absolutely no cargo area and not as…
  • Mine is homemade bread products. Wheat bread, cornbread, flour tortillas...anything like that. I try not to bake bread too often because I know I will eat about 90% of it in a few days. I made 4 loaves of sourdough bread for the Christmas visitors we had. I ate two loaves by myself. I LOVE bread!!
  • Bear's got pretty bad allergies and he gnaws on himself when his allergies act up so he gets 2 allergy pills a day but even that just isn't enough sometimes. His tail "wound" is a result of his gnawing because of allergies. He's never gnawed on his tail before though. I got a look at it last night and it is looking a lot…
  • Good for you...you've got a great habit going! Keep walking for us. ;o) I havent been able to walk the dogs yet this week. It's been super cold and rainy. Poor Bear someone how hurt his tail and he's been gnawing at it. Two days ago he had a full, fluffy tail. Now there's only a little fur left since his gnawing knotted it…
  • Bad week....I didn't indulge in a single dessert and I didn't over eat on Thanksgiving (much) but I still gained a few pounds...it was that loaf of homemade bread and most of a pint of homemade apple butter I put on the bread that did me in. Whoops. 152.0 Good luck Queeda! You'll do great! Great challenges this week.
  • I didn't log in much last week...I did walk them everyday except Thursday. There was no way to fit a walk in that day but it was very mild weather so they got to spend the whole day outside. Way to go for all of you who managed to get out with your dogs on Thanksgiving!
  • I am ashamed to admit that I didn't walk the dogs yesterday, and might not tonight either. I am letting my exhasution take over. I was busy lsat night and didn't get to bed anywhere near on time so I'm in no better shape today. I really should try to get out with them tonight...but I really have a STRONG desire to get some…
  • I was wrong, I wasn't able to make the diray work for me on the same day...back to my old way of doing things. Anyway, I did really well until late in the evening. I made a chicken quesadilla for my husband and took a bite before I handed it to him. I realized as I was swallowing it that I wasn't supposed to have…
  • I totally forgot about this. I just got home from a backpacking trip last night. I haven't had any meat today yet. Good thing I saw this before lunch because I would likely have had some. Now, I have to figure out lunch and dinner. hmmm... As a side note, this backpacking trip put my journal out of whack so I am going to…
  • Great success story. Dogs are so amazing for us. You are doing great. Welcome to the group
  • I lost 2.8 pounds this week! 148.2. I am only 2.2 pounds away from my lowest weight in at least 10 years. I am really hoping I can get below 146 this time around. It's been a busy end of the week trying to get ready to go on a weekend getaway. So here's the rest of last week's stats: 11/16 - 11/19 Newts - 22 Owls - 1 (1…
  • I got a 35 minute walk in last night. I am leaving any minute now for a backpacking trip. I had time to walk the dogs but I didn't know it since we were supposed to leave an hour ago but my friend is still getting ready. Oh well. It's in the low 50's out and sopposed to drop into the low 40's overnight. Here's hoping I…
  • We got out for 75 minutes today. It's impossible for us to get a walk in in the daylight with my work hours. The dogs don't mind but it's stressful for me because I can't see what is going on around me very well. I have to be hyper vigilant about other dogs and cats. Heaven forbid we get too close to one. All kinds of…
  • Have you ever head of tick tweezers? They're not tweezers at all but more of a scoop. Here's the website for the one I have. http://www.tickinfo.com/protickremedy.htm It works really well, although it does really stretch the skin out when they're implanted themselves in the skin good and tight. I've had to use it on myself…
  • Everyone's doing a great job keeping at it. Sadly, I was unable to walk the dogs last night. I didn't get home until after 9 PM...and then I was in desperate need of food so I shirked my duty. Anyhow, it was raining all day and one rainsoaked walk a week is really all I am wiling to do. But today I have no meetings so will…
  • It has to be his decision. There's no way around it. I feel your pain though. My husband has had cancer twice and still can't see the importance of diet and exercise. We've gotten in a few arguments about exercising. Finally, I quit pushing. Yes, it's harder for me to eat healthy and find the time to exercise when he's not…
  • Sugar...anything with sugar in it. Well, I can't avoid it...it's everywhere. But how do I not eat it? I have found the only way I can do it is to not eat any, ever. Once I have one bite, I can't control myself. So I make pretty much everything from scratch so it has no sugar in it. And any dessert in the house goes in a…
