Maybe I explained what I'm wanting to do wrong? I'm not wanting to bulk up, I'm just wanting to tone up and have a bit more muscle definition and a bit less flabby looking arms etc... I'm not after sculpted mega defined upper body muscles.

Well...I must be a lot weaker than I thought then as some of you find my tiny weights laughable. I have done 3 to 5 sets of 30 reps the past few days and I ache all over my upper body, so I must be doing something right.

Wow, didn't intend on causing arguments guys...a few conflicting pieces of advice :/ . I think, for now I will keep with my "toy weights" and do more reps. I will certainly try the wall push ups too. I wish I had the time and money to go swimming but I don't. Thank you for the advice and support :)

Thanks for the tips so far! I can't really do press ups as my wrists are weak (early onset arthritis, my body weight causes my wrists to give way during press-ups)...so I have to go for exercises that don't put too much strain ony wrists.

First goal completed and a few weeks ahead of time too :)

I always weigh myself first thing in the morning Also....I'm rubbish at math :s :p

Phew...I thought so, but so much better hearing it from others lol, thanks x

Thanks Kel :) I meant to add more to my original post but it cut it off for some reason?? I meant to add that I have set myself mini goals to try and help me stay motivated. My starting weight as of 2 weeks ago is 13 stone 10lbs My first goal is to get to my pre pregnancy weight (third child...) of 13 stone 3lbs by…

May I join? I've started my journey on my own 2 weeks ago and have so far lost 6lbs, but I tend to cheat and lose motivation after a couple of weeks as my weight loss tends to slow down as I get to burning the real fat off, so could do with the push from others. Height: 5'6 Starting weight: 202lbs Challenge Goal weight:…

hey there, I just found out today that I have stage 2 osteoarthritis in my left knee (at age 31!) My doctor said the best way to combat and slow down the degeneration is by losing weight. I just wanted to say, that I am also in the same boat and that I plan on taking up aqua aerobics once a week (can't afford more than one…

My second week doing "week one" again (don't feel ready to move on yet). I went out and bought myself a pair of running shoes this morning and went for my scheduled run this evening. The running was much improved with the shoes, cushioned the shock of my feet pounding the pavement....however...on my walking sections the…

I did W1D3 today. The first few runs felt great but I really start struggling after that. I think I'll be doing week 1 again next week before moving onto week 2. Im doing Mon/Wed/Sat.

W1D2 done.....I ache all over lol. You don't realise how many muscles running actually gives a workout to. The first few run periods I was quite pleased I could fairly comfortably do. The middle couple I found the hardest to push through and I have to admit on the last two 60 second runs I walked the last 20 to 30 seconds.…

Hi, bit late to this (as I've only just joined) but thought i'd relay my experience of W1D1. For starters, I hadn't sorted the podcast on my mP3 out before I went so I just walked/ran to some music and guessed the timings. I think I did a lot more walking than running, but was happy with what I did. I actually quite…

Hi! I'm Jenny, I live in south Yorkshire UK. I'm 29 (30 in a couple of months eeek). I joined MFP a couple of yrs ago and have been on and off here and there. Actually managed to lose 25lbs in total. Life has been unkind these past few yrs and I've put about 8lbs back on. I've never really cared for running, but being a…

Well I have only lost a lb this week....a little dissapointed but grateful to have lost anything at all. Really finding it difficult to motivate myself to exercise. I haven't really done any real exercise for 2 weeks! mainly due to a bad cold I have not been able to shake. Feeling better now but after I get home from work…

I was a bit naughty last week. I decided to treat myself near the beginning of the week and then continued to "treat" myself another few times...needless to say the scale either wasn't moving or moving up by one  I decided to try and get back on track by the end of the week and went for a 3 hour walk on the…

hurray! my 3 hour walk yesterday worked, finally lost my first lb of the week

Hi  I got one off of ebay, but I live in the UK so not sure of price for you but it cost me £1.99 free P&P and it measures steps taken, calories, miles and km. It's tiny and fits on the edge of my pocket or on a belt. Hope this helps.....

Did good this week, lost 2lbs:smile: . I had a bit of a treat at the weekend and had a trip to York. Had a few bad things food wise but it is the first time I haven't strictly stuck to my calorie intake, on the plus side I made up a chunk of miles, went walking round York in glorious autumn sunshine for nearly 4 non stop…
