I'm in. I'm a couple months shy of 43, recovering from a major surgery and really need to take off at least 50 pounds, but I'm working on 20 lb increments.

I requested to join, awaiting reply.:-)

I'm also returning after a long break and a hysterectomy. Need to lose 80 pounds but working on 20 at a time and maintaining. Just started paleo due to multiple allergies, chronic migraine and depression. Hoping it helps, but could use some support and motivation in the exercise department.

I understand the feeling. It's about (in my opinion) being happy about being in control of one's eating, that food doesn't control you. And a little hunger by itself won't kill you. When I feel hungry, I first drink a glass of water, if I'm still hungry 15 minutes later, I go ahead and eat something healthy. That way I…

Congrats! You look awesome!

Thanks for the info. I can use all the help I can get. Luckily for me, I only really have a taste or craving for them, during that time of the month, but oh the cravings during that time! I am going to those sites as we speak....

Hello, I'm 5'2 and currently weigh somewhere around 236 down from a high of 254, and it looks like it's all in my belly! I just turned 40 in March and whereas I never felt the effects of being overweight, I now find that everything aches! My goal is to try and get down to around 160 (which for me is around a size 9) and…

Okay, I'm 5'2 (close enough right??) Goal is 150 (down from 250), and absolutely HATE running! However, I refuse to let anything beat me, so I run daily (not even close to half marathon status), love, love LOVE cheese, and am also low carb. However, I do remember the warm, soft goodness that is fresh bread... ***sigh***.…

I'm in. Lucky for me I'm blessed to have a personal trainer Monday-Friday who keeps me on my toes. My problem is going to be diet. I've already given up white products, but I have to maintain on Saturdays and Sundays. Good luck to everyone!

I don't know about guilt, but I know that sometimes I feel a little angry when I know I could have made a better choice. I use that feeling as motivation for the next time I want to have something I know is not going to help me in my journey, such as soda or sugar. Also, I noticed that after losing a lot of weight and not…

Hello all. At the beginning of this journey I needed to lose about 120 pounds. I'm now down 20 but still could use the motivation of others who are suffering some of the consequences of not moving for long periods of time, and not making the most positive diet and exercise choices in the world. Hopefully, some of us can…

Although I agree that most people (in my experience) are not trying to be insulting or hurtful, it does sabotage your efforts sometimes. There will be some who are jealous, and probably it'll be those who are closest to us. I think more than anything they are trying to gain control over you, because they are confused and…

I think this is the best advice. However, I would add to it, because it sounds like you might be a little worried about your safety, DO NOT be alone or let this person think you might be alone. There is something to following your gut, and these things can turn ugly very quickly. Pepper spray does work, as do lighters,…

Totally agree. I lost 50 pounds a few years ago. Went down from 221 to 171. I wore a size 8/9 depending on which store I went to, and I felt and looked AWESOME! Don't worry there is a lot of support here, you just have to weed out the know it alls who want to correct everything you do. I do feel like you need to be a…

I have actually gone to Weight Watchers and used Weight Watchers online. Sorry to say, it is a lot like this site. You still have to keep up with amounts of foods you eat, you still have to track your food, and you still have to decide what you will and will not eat. The only difference is that instead of calling it what…

Question. A few years ago I went to one of those diet clinics where you have to buy the protein supplements, and the first thing they did was put me on a 3 day cleanse where I ate all the red meat and green veggies I wanted. I lost 11 pounds in those three days. Granted it was probably all water, but my question is, how…

I made my New Year's resolution back in September when I first joined MFP. Like most resolutions, I kept at it for about a month, and then I fell off. I got serious again about a month ago, and have lost 8 pounds in one of the hardest seasons to maintain a certain weight, much less lose. My goals for this year (beginning a…

I think, especially in the beginning of the weight loss journey, that it is a good thing to be obsessive about weighing food. I used my scale in the beginning for everything! Then after you become more comfortable with the foods you eat most often, you can kind of cut out some of the scale usage. But being obsessive about…

Wow! From Michigan and didn't even realize we have any particular accent. I will give you this, I hear a lot of "warsh" for wash (something I've been working on lol). Imagine moving to Michigan having a Texas/ New York accent. Horrible!

125 pounds lost. Inspirational.

Feel free to add me. I tried Insanity, but only ended up aggravating an old injury. I have read and heard some good things about P90X, and nothing about injuries. I'm interested in seeing how it goes for you, I'm considering purchasing it for my husband.

This is assuming you don't have to catch the bus to the grocery store, and pay a jitney to drive you home with said groceries. You also left out the price of "some kind of sauce". 5.00 at the market is fine for two people, but what about when there's a third, fourth or fifth someone? Also, yes, when we were growing up…
