  • Happy August! I am working on week 6 of the Couch potato to 5K. I’m not very fast but I made it through another 5 days of workouts. What are some of you doing?
  • Ready!! Start: 186.4 (today 7/27) Goal: 165 W1 8/4: W2 8/11: W3 8/18: W4 8/25: W5 9/1: W6 9/8: W7 9/15: W8 9/22: W9 9/29: W10 10/6: W11 10/13: W12 10/20: W13 10/27: W14 11/3: W15 11/10: W16 11/17: W17 11/24: Final!!!! 12/1: Total loss: What I've learned about myself:
  • I’m in. I NEED accountability buddies. I am working on a goal of 50lbs. This is a great start!
  • Getting started late so have some catching up to do! Working on strength and balance. Just went to the farmers market and logged 3000 steps and 20 min of aerobic activity!
  • Behind-have to get back at it on Monday.
  • ✅ with day 11 crunches. Have to back off on the squats with a sore knee
  • I'd love to connect with some other returnees who struggle and find out what's working ( or worked) for you. Anyone out there??
  • Day by day! That's how this goes. I have logged in for 27 straight days, and it really helps keep me focused. Weight loss is slow- 1.7lbs. I feel like I'm working hard at this, but I guess not hard enough! I see lots of people down 10 lbs a month- I wish I had the secret to that!
  • Ugg. Had a BAD day yesterday eating- went out on the Riverfront with my boyfriend and ate and drank too much. Today- water- lots of it, and double the exercise. But I'm back at it. I think that's what matters. I've been really watching the calorie and carb intake. Clearly need more fruits and veggies so that's going to be…
  • Days 8 and 9 ✅! My knees need a rest.
  • Catching up on day 8 and working on day 9. Squats are killing me!
  • I live in a second story condo- so going up and down the stairs carrying lots of stuff is probably the most risky. Checking all the light bulbs to make sure everything is well lit!
  • Day 7 ✅ crunches; made it through 60 squats till my knees hurt- will have to make those up tomorrow.
  • Day 6- ✅ All at once in alternating sets. Yes!!!
  • @RedSierra Your post was a big help this morning. You are right- I lived in AZ and was outside doing something year round. When I moved to the Midwest, I really started to gain. The first winter was brutal! My goal is to take advantage of the summer and build better habits again. Thanks for the note.
  • Joined a fitness challenge that is kicking my butt- literally. Walking up to 25 minutes at least 5 days. Felling pretty good!
  • Day 4- ✅ squats and crunches- and 45 minutes walking!
  • I'm taking the train and walking. Trying to get up and do exercise reps or steps every hour. It is harder- and takes time- but it's worth it.
  • I didn't quite make it all the way through day 2. Wow- I think I need to go a little slower on trying that many reps right out of the gate- too out of shape! But I'm going to keep increasing every day.
  • Day 1 done. Squats and crunches- though I sure don't get my shoulders off the floor too high!
  • Some time ago I turned off all the notifications on my apps- so I don't get dings, vibrations and emails all day telling me everything everyone is doing. I love it. Now- if I pick up my phone in the middle of the day to check Facebook, or MFP, etc., it's a choice I've made. This week I'm going to work on getting up from my…
  • @Eleted that's a lot to cope with. I am on week 2. The fist week I lost 4 lbs- the second I just stayed the same. It's how it always seems to be with me. But I'm determined and not giving up this time. Too many aches and pains and a general tired feeling- and these are already improved. I tried a one week challenge and…
  • @flaneur6 Hang in there and stop by this thread anytime. I have just been learning how to manage this whole MFP community- it's a LOT, but the daily dose of encouragement has really helped me.
  • New to the group and just returned to MFP 2weeks ago. This is just what I need to motivate me. I am terribly out of shape and 50 lbs over my ideal weight- taking it 10 lbs at a time. @MiamiSeoul your story is powerful and motivating- thank you for sharing.
  • Finished week 2 and feeling pretty good- even included a trip for work.
  • Since I started this thread two weeks ago, I've really been watching what I eat and walking at least 15 min a day- most days more. I've only missed one day in 14. It's great progress- but I have a long way to go.
  • I'm late this week- but this has been a great challenge. I've tried several "clean" recipes and find it refreshing. I'm starting to lose my carb cravings- and when I have one I choose a great nut and seed granola I found. This week I had a smoothie bowl for breakfast one day- like eating ice cream! And I made a great…
  • @prgirl39mfp I am finishing my first week of eating better, getting out at least 5 times a week to walk or ride, and reading everyday. I already feel better!
  • Finishing week 1. My observation is that it's harder than it sounds- but worth it. I already have less creaky knees and a bit more energy. My first weigh in will be Monday. I am looking forward to the result- hope it is positive!
