Doing well here. Walked all over the science museum with grandkids today so I got in plenty of steps! Back in Ketosis after just 5 days of toeing the line. I find my body goes into it easier and easier if I fall off the band-wagon. Anyone else had that experience?

Despite running the pool all night we got a cracked pipe. Just dripping right now and since it’s going to freeze another two nights we will wait until this weekend to fix it unless it flat-out bursts. It was 36 last night and today has gotten up to 35. Saturday we expect 68. Now that is a crazy temperature swing! Marcelyn…

I got up and grabbed a pair of pants and thought oh wow! I lost tons overnight. They were quite baggy. Then I saw I had grabbed them from my “too big don’t wear in public” pile of jeans. Lol. But a most successful day. 15g net carbs and I even got a piece of Dutch licorice in there!

I don't anymore. But I did at first. It was because I was gaining muscle. Now I'm pretty stable in body content, unfortunately. I'd like to dump a little more fat. Marcelyn

No, he flew from Edinburgh, Scotland to Stavanger. It was the quite the experience as on the way back he sat next to a man who was quite talkative. He was speaking English but had such a heavy Scottish brogue that my husband said he only understood one out of every ten words. He did a lot of head nodding that flight. lol

Machka: These two memes describe me.... I love the bling. lol

I started running in 2012. I had lost 50 lbs. and convinced myself that I could run a half-marathon. So I "trained". My daughter said she would run with me. About three weeks before the race we managed to go 6 miles. The half-marathon was on the sea-wall in Galveston, TX the first week of February. Usually the weather is…

I'm assuming you mean me, unless I have missed a Marilyn. My name is Marcelyn. Not Marilyn. I get everything from Marilyn, Marcella, Marchella... but it's Marcelyn. Pronounced "Mar-suh-lynn". Sometimes I just get tired of always answering to something else (in school they would start with my brother's name and go through…

Putting on weight when running? Yup. I did/do. That's why I focus on measurements and BMI instead of poundage for the most part. Would I love to see the 145 show up on my scale but watching the body composition has been much better for me in the long run. Starting weight 204 Goal weight - 145 Current weight 154.5
-
Starting weight 204 Goal weight - 145 1/1 - 154.5 1/7 - 1/14 - 1/21 - 1/28 - Goal for January is to drop 2 pounds OR lose inches OR reduce BMI. I will take any one of them.
-
January Goals:* log daily * 64 oz. water daily * 20 net grams carbs daily * walk/run daily - avg. 11,000 steps a day for the month * intentional workout/exercise 3x a week * 8 new keto recipes in my keto recipe folder * lose 2 pounds OR inches OR reduce BMI - I will take a reduction in any area

Not sure about any New Year's resolutions, thinking that whole process through. Back on Keto track after a wild and sugar filled holiday. lol Need to up my fat intake as I'm taking in too much protein. It will even out though as I get settled into it again. Just two weeks off and it's like starting over, but easier because…

Starting weight 204 Goal weight - 145 12/03 - 155 12/09 - 153 (after the marathon) 12/11 - 155 12/19 - 155 12/24 - 155.5 12/31 - 155. Goal of maintaining met! Still sick though. Blah. Here is to a fantastic New Year!

I never considered the 12 days of Christmas to be ethnic, more a Christian based. The church calendar follows that, 12 days and then Epiphany. Interesting that the countries have it as part of their culture and traditions and even declare holidays for it all. Nice. My husband had to go to Stavanger, Norway for a business…

I just chuckle every time I see your user name. WizzyWig. Just makes me smile. Welcome back. Marcelyn complaining about "cold" in Houston (hey we're going to freeze tomorrow night! give me a break!)

The goal is to finish the first time. The second race your goal is to beat your time/pace. I only race against myself, never the crowd. But I understand the desire to not be the last one across the finish line. lol Usually that's not a problem. In the marathon I did a run/walk and that really helps me keep the energy…

Ah, don't go age-shaming just because they are seniors.. I've personally found the "youngsters" much ruder and inflexible, even to the point of hitting me rather than giving a cue they are there. The track does not belong to just one person, fast or slow and cooperation and patience is a must. So when you run, a simple...…

Drive in your neck of the woods often. My husband is from Silver City and we go see his dad every month. His sister teaches in Deming. Don’t make it down to Columbus but I’ve been there. Does that count? Lol Marcelyn

I LOVE Hoka's. I am on my third pair (one pair is retired and I rotate the other two). I am getting a pair of their trail running shoes next for my trail runs (better lugs for trails) My favorites so far are their Bondi series. You will do great in your race. Just don't "rabbit" out of the start keeping up with everyone.…

I always heard that this is a German oriented custom. Pork because pigs "root forward" when they eat, showing a desire to move on to the new in the New Year. Usually served with sauerkraut. This was something that my family did as my dad was quite German. My mom and her Swedish background didn't seem to bring any New…

I was taken by surprise but not offended. I found it rather humorous. I mean if you’ve ever experienced Houston in August you might just find it fitting.

Supposedly Diet drinks do not affect your ketosis levels. But that can vary according to the individual in my experience. What I have discovered though is that diet drinks do raise my insulin levels, my body reacts to artificial sweeteners just like they are sugar. So keep track of what your body does when you consume it…

I opened my weather app to check the forecast and it couldn’t locate where I was and this came up. I know some peoplehateTX but this is a bit extreme. Took me by surprise. It had travel advisories for lava flows and fire and brimstone showers.

Had a lovely Christmas Day. 23 for dinner and gift opening, games and our family "talent show." It's controlled chaos. lol Ate tons of food, way too many carbs, lots of chocolate and sweets and all sorts of awful stuff and loved it. But no guilt at all. What is life if you can't celebrate once in a while. Right back on…

@Lisbydezign - I am so sorry for your loss.

It sound worse than it really is. :) We share the cooking responsibilities. All I am doing this year is the meats and a pie. My girls and daughter-in-law are bringing the rest. This really isn't an unusual thing. We usually have all 22 of us here every Sunday. Everyone goes to their church service and then we all meet for…

Starting weight 204 Goal weight - 145 12/03 - 155 12/09 - 153 (after the marathon.... knew it wouldn't last. lol but hey, I wanted to see the number in print lol) 12/11 - 155 12/19 - 155 12/24 - 155.5. I’m sick and happy to eat anything that I can taste. Which is usually sweet stuff. Totally out of ketosis. 12/31

Finally hung the stockings for tomorrow. The family that will be here (22) plus the cat.

I have "it". Not sure what "it" is but it's not the flu. No fever, just drainage and cough and no voice. My husband is rejoicing. lol Eating too much and totally out of ketosis thanks to illness and eating what is handy since I don't want to cook. I can only handle so many nuts lol. Not going to really try to get back into…
