  • Well knock me over with a feather. I'm surprised anyone even remembers me. :)
  • Hey all, I've been either lurking or absent for months. Been dealing with some medical issues that took me by surprise and gained a few pounds back so I'm in the "yuck I feel fat" stage yet once again. Life is good though, between CT Scans and MRI's I'm getting a lot of thinking done. Can't do much else lying there with…
  • After a very stressful month I'm back and ready to get fully back into Keto. I have had such success with it in general health and well-being I find it hard to believe I slipped back into bad habits simply because of stress. But I did and now I'm slapping myself and getting back on board. I don't have far to go as I was…
  • @ skctilidie Love the NSVs!
  • I got certified for diving about 6 yrs ago. I’ve got over 200 dives now. We go on several trips a year. Now if you want to see sharks go to Turks and Caicos. We saw bunches of sharks on every dive there. Only saw about six in Belize. The whale sharks are in Belize in June so we were too early for them. Marcelyn
  • If anyone tried to watch the video and it didn't play I fixed that. Sorry it didn't embed properly the first time around. If it doesn't work let me know. I can't tell from my end. Marcelyn
  • Been MIA due to life and vacation. This was my life the last seven days. Five dives a day for 6 days in Belize. Lived on a boat for the full week out in the ocean, it was dive dive dive time. https://youtu.be/kk5f2vq-l9U Came home for a party our kids held for us for our 40th wedding anniversary, Mother's Day and the…
  • I've been MIA due to ... life and vacation. This is what I was doing all last week. https://youtu.be/kk5f2vq-l9U Came home to celebrate my 40th wedding anniversary, Mother's Day and the announcement of Grandbaby #14 on the way! Did well with the diet over vacation. We had no choice of food but the chef of the boat worked…
  • I would love to try to change his diet but honestly at 87 yrs of age he’s pretty set. I have been feeding him Keto meals and he loves them. It’s the extras he refuses to give up. Cookies. Cinnamon rolls. Pie. Etc. he is very thin and has no cholesterol issues or heart issues so the drs day let him eat what he wants. And…
  • Oh gosh, I live in Texas I LIVE on iced tea. And I'm a rare breed here. I drink my iced tea unsweet. No sugar, no sweeteners. I probably down four to five 32 oz iced teas a day... I think the diet soda is more a flavor thing, it has a sweet taste to it that I just miss at times. I'll definitely try the watering down…
  • My husband and I, our four children, 3 in-laws, 13 grandchildren
  • Howdy howdy! I have been missing in action. It's been a stressful month. I've stayed "low-carb/high-fat" but eaten WAY too many calories and so have been stuck. In fact I gained 5 pounds back. It was totally stress eating. Life has been complicated here. My father-in-law is visiting with the intention of seeing if he would…
  • I had a 5 lb. weight loss goal for March. I've accomplished .5 pound. I'll take it. It's been a stressful month. If I keep up this pace in 10 months I'll have that five pounds gone. lol I guess my real goal now is to not look like a beached killer whale in my wetsuit in a month when we go diving.....
  • Meant to add... for those wanting pickle juice.... at the races I do there is a company that sells pickle juice. I found out that you can even buy it at walmart or online. It is quite handy, no draining pickle jars... https://www.picklepower.com/
  • Watched grandchildren all last week for spring break and then had 3 different kids over the weekend so my daughter and her husband could take a mini anniversary trip. I'm too old for babies waking up in the middle of the night.... Planted most of my garden. Still have to get the watermelon in... Looking to plant…
  • Ummm. Sorry about the ice. I got my tomatoes (7 plants) and peppers (10 Anaheim chilie, 2 cubanella bells, and 6 jalapeños) planted. I’m planting my beans tomorrow even though I think I’m late getting them in, same with the lettuce. But I’ll plant them anyway. Been watching grandkids all week for spring break. Then 3 for…
  • Crazy week of watching grandchildren during spring break, bathroom remodel job, husband traveling and then keeping 3 different grandkids for 3 days and 2 nights.... it's gonna be a long long week..... I'm too old for this. ;) Keto is not a choice with all these kids. lol And they are bottomless pits! Always hungry! I've…
  • I definitely mulch and compost the spring leaves and everything throughout the summer. I have a three compartment compost bin I built and it works wonderfully but these dratted live oaks just don't decompose do they! Hopefully it won't rain until tonight and I'll get some more done. Wet leaves don't blow and I use a blower…
  • @wildhorsewendy - Great song but too slow a cadence for me. I'm working up to 180 bpm and that one is recorded at about 135 or so, too slow. But I found it at 180 bpm, wow, he's really zipping through those words at that rate. lol I'd probably use it for working out but not running. Never heard of the group, a new one for…
  • Welcome @storyjorie I run and once you get fat adapted it is absolutely no problem to run and do keto. I tell everyone to read the book The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performace. It has a lot of good information. Technical but I slogged through it and then went back and hit the spots that I didn't quite "get" and…
  • Dinner tonight: Smoked pork baby back ribs (no sauce, just dry rub... they were awesome) sauteed asparagus with mashed avocado steamed riced cauliflower with butter tossed salad (mostly lettuce) with ranch dressing It was a lovely dinner and I stayed under my 20g (net) of carbs! I find I stay in keto if I plan. If I wait…
  • Well my husband is about fed up with the corporate world and is thinking seriously about retirement. His original plan was to make 40 years (with the same company) and that will happen in January of 2019 but lately he's thinking of calling it done in August. I honestly think he doesn't want to go through another season of…
  • [quote="kevrit;c-41510844" On way home, had to drive through my first sand storm. Rita in Columbus New Mexico [/quote] My husband's family lives in Silver City and his sister works in Deming. Those signs on the highway that say "closed when flashing" are often on during sand storms and you darned well better pay attention…
  • @KetoneKaren : To put it in perspective. I ran a marathon. My Garmin watch, which knows my pace etc showed I only burned 2,345 calories doing 26.2 miles..... People always over estimate their calories. It's one of the reasons that I do not trust the MFP exercise calorie counts. They always over estimate in my opinion. I…
  • So has anyone traveled with a small dog on an airplane? I know we need to have an airline certified carrier that can fit under the seat, notify the airline in advance and pay the "pet fee". Is there anything else I really need to know? We are hoping to get my father-in-law to come visit but he won't come without his dog.…
  • welcome @sashaspiegel Competitive sailing. How exciting. I'd love to try sailing someday but for now I'll stick with under the water sports instead of on top of the water sports. I have to admit that when I hear the name Sasha I immediately go to Alexander or Alexandria but I'm probably the rarity there. Marcelyn from…
  • You are very smart in recognizing this and in not forcing him. Relationship is much more important. And I know how hard it is to convince children to eat something when one parent doesn't want to. We went years and years with not eating certain vegetables just because my husband would wrinkle his nose and say they were…
  • I thought that too, but I ran my marathon on keto and did just fine. I never hit the wall or "bonked" because the body can only store so much glycogen (what carbs turn into) and when you run out you are out. With a Keto diet the fat doesn't run out. It is not just stored in blood, it is stored in every cell and you don't…
  • @KayKallsen52 Congrats!
  • Does anyone have any information or experience with St. Johns Wort being used along with Holy Basil? Is Holy Basil better for treating anxiety than St. Johns Wort? Can they be used together? It is for a family member who stuggles with both depression and anxiety attacks. They refuse to take any medicines but will consider…
