  • If you copy paste the link in my comment that article is a decent amount of info, but honestly just googling "how much muscle can I gain in a month" will bring up lots of similar info! As for measuring body fat, you can buy calipers cheap on Amazon, or try a scale that measure it (I have one from Escali that seems to do a…
  • From the way you phrased this, I think you already know that it's likely water in your muscles as a result of healing. You can't actually gain more than 2 lbs of muscle in a MONTH (http://stronglifts.com/how-much-muscle-can-you-gain-in-1-month-naturally/) without steroids etc, so at most it would be half a pound, and even…
  • Man, I feel lucky haha. My guy and I have learned together, so mostly we just make fun of the people who say dumb **** together. It helps us stay sane. The stupidest workout comment I've gotten (NOT from my guy) was from a trainer at my gym of all people. First he corrected my form on my rows (which I will admit was…
  • If you use your TDEE as calculated with exercise, DO NOT log your exercise calories. If you want to keep track of your exercise, just change the calorie burn to 1 so you don't throw off your totals. If you want to eat back exercise calories, do as DanaDark said and calculate your sedentary TDEE and take you deficit from…
  • I decided to try it after a lot of people who lift recommended getting at least 30% of calories from protein; a lot of people recommended it so I figured it was worth a shot :)
  • MFP uses a very low percentage of your calories for protein, which if you're lifting is definitely not enough. However, you can change your goals!! Go to My Home > Goals > Change Goals > Custom and you will be able to adjust what percentages you want to come from carbs, fat and protein. Personally I set mine at 40% carbs,…
  • In order to give good advice, it's necessary to know what you're doing more specifically. What are you calorie goals during the week? How bad are you being on the weekends? Without knowing your particular story, here are a few general rules to help "make it stick" as it were: 1) Set realistic, sustainable goals. If you try…
  • @wlddove, I love the newspapery looking one :)
  • I made this Cheesy Enchilada Casserole recently and it was super tasty: http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2011/10/cheesy-enchilada-casserole.html I only used 3 tortillas, and the nutrition breakdown came out to 322 cal/25 carb/14 fat/23 protein per serving. Not SUPER healthy, but not bad. Two other favorites: Cuban Rice and…
  • I was recently in the mid-west for a business trip, and I decided to check out restaurant menus online before I did... the salads at Hard Rock Cafe, which I thought would be the "healthier" options, were all upwards of 800 calories. One was over 1100!! And here I'd thought that I was being generous saving myself 700…
  • I'm skipping untouchable cuz she gave it away :-P supahstar, I'm gonna guess a cosmo ;-)
  • It is my understanding that it is impossible to completely preserve lean mass while eating at a deficit without doing any form of exercise. I may be wrong. Seems logical, though.
  • Ask yourself: What do I care about, the number on the scale, or how I look/feel? No one knows what you weigh but you. Lifting will add muscle mass, which will weigh more, but look WAY better. That said, you did not gain 6 lbs in one week of muscle mass. Whenever you start a new workout routine, your muscles will retain…
  • So many sandwich and salad variations!! If you make a salad, throw some avocado, cheese and nuts in there to add nutritional value, and stick to low cal dressings (I like Maple Grove Farms non fat varieties, they are all between 10 and 35 calories for 2 tbsp). Sandwiches: Get some pita bread or Ezekial bread, and load it…
  • This is a major trap a lot of people fall in to: "I worked out, so I earned more food!" without checking the actual calories for either. Then they wonder why they aren't losing weight when they work out all the time. You need to maintain a calorie deficit to lose weight, no matter how much you work out. Be smart, and be…
  • I follow EM2WL to SOME extent (I still believe in moderation; my cuts are around 1600 and bulk is 1850; I lift so I'm just trying to recompose right now) feel free to add me if you want!
  • One of my best was going in to Express because I needed new pants. There was a woman folding at the table and she could see that I looked confused, so I told her that I hadn't bought anything there in awhile and wasn't sure what size I was, so I didn't want to mess up her piles pulling out multiple sizes. She looked me up…
  • Say it out loud. "Oh, hi." There ya go. I believe it originated on cute cat photos, as per the following:
  • Just be patient! Weight loss is a slow process, as you've already noticed. If you want to make sure you're on track, 1) keep measurements other than weight (use a tape measure) and 2) make sure you're weighing your food and actually eating the portion sizes that you think you are!
  • I honestly go through a couple of packs a day of gum at work. It doesn't keep me from being hungry, but it keeps me from eating just for the sake of chewing on something or the taste. I love food, and I would eat all day long if no one stopped me. So gum is a helpful alternative!!
  • Judging by the topic name I would say try using a spelling and grammar checker before turning anything in...
  • To everyone saying "You never find the right guy when you're looking for him," I call bull****. I met my fiance on an online dating site. It doesn't get more "looking" than that. We've been together 2.5 years, living together 1.5, engaged 7 months. Having done a lot of dating, I can assure you that he is VERY MUCH the…
  • Engaged and wedding planning, I think I want to walk down the aisle to a guitar version of "The Rainbow Connection." I DID want our first dance to be "The Luckiest" but from this thread it looks like everyone uses that in some way or another, so now I'm gonna have to get creative haha!
  • Anything without mayo, lol. California roll: crab, cucumber and avocado. Salmon & avocado roll: fattier, but the good fat. Usually they list exactly what's in them, just get something without mayo or cream cheese and don't douse them in soy sauce and you're probably fine.
  • Bahahaha. What a moron.
  • You look really fantastic, congratulations :)
  • @chazza - the marathon pic; badass
  • @ my dear friend SergeantSunshine, I love the one in the cute pink lace undies :blushing: Seriously though your stomach is to die for
  • Sadly, Blink is the current gym that does not have the equipment necessary for serious lifting. Unless their other locations are better; I go to the NoHo one, and while they have 2 Smith machines, there isn't a single barbell in the entire joint!
  • This is super fascinating... according to this, I am not eating nearly enough even in my bulks to build muscle (I had kind of suspected as much) and it's kind of inevitable that I will lose lean mass during my cuts at my current rate. Gonna have to play with it quite a bit to figure out what I should be doing I think!
