I second the maybe slightly decreasing your calories. Do you know what your TDEE is? I'd aim for around 500 calories per day under that maybe. It varies from person to person, but for me personally, I have to rotate between cutting calories and eating at maintenance to continue making progress because my body seems to…

Bump for that protein crepe recipe!

Simple carbs drag me down as well. I am actually gluten intolerant, so I avoid wheat, but even the GF substitutes made with rice flour etc for things like muffins, bread and pancakes leave me in a food coma.

I believe that the general rule of thumb is that things that are harder to digest (i.e. proteins) provide energy for longer periods of time. Raw almonds tend to help me... but honestly, so does a crap ton of coffee ;-)

I use a fitbit zip and I like it because it gives me a better idea of my TDEE than the online calculators, which are pretty limited in terms of your options. I walk a lot, but I don't work out every day, so the fitbit gives me a better idea of my real daily burn so that I can gauge my nutritional needs better accordingly.

I drink it and I log it. I use about 1 tbsp of half and half and a sweet & low in my coffee. It's barely any calories so I won't cut it out, but I try to log everything I eat to keep myself honest :) "Your body keeps an accurate food diary, even if you don't" - Someone wiser than me

Yes, I absolutely think that lifting has helped with my stomach. For me, at least, my stomach didn't start to look better until I got some solid muscle underneath. Also, having more muscle increases your metabolism, which helps burn fat! It's still not as flat as I'd like, but I'm slowly getting there :)

Thank you!! That made my morning :blushing:

Thank you all!! I really needed that boost :) I have packed the bikini and NOT the one piece back up suit. Feeling good!
-
Haha. A fair point! For some reason I'm way more comfortable with MFP people than the whole wide world though. I feel like you all have been there, so you understand the fear!
-
Yaaaay!!!! Haha that makes me happy :)

Feel free to follow me, I eat GF. Also, check out my blog, theshehulkchef.tumblr.com; I post gluten free recipes 1-2 times a week :)

ATTENTION! Very important! They sell a variety pack. Just ordered one, super excited to try all the flavors! Also, if you use the coupon code "onaquest" you'll get free shipping on their site.

I've only done the Apple Pie (I go through them like crazy) and brownie (which I didn't care for) but you guys have me wanting to try cinnamon roll and cookie dough!

Personally, I use a body composition scale. I know that they aren't the most accurate thing ever (things like where you are in your digestive cycle can mess it up) but I feel like at least it lets me know if I'm moving in the right direction! I don't actually care SO much about what the percentage is when I get to it, it's…

Wow, this topic took off while I was away from my computer! Thank you all SO MUCH for your tips, I'm definitely going to try to mix things up a little, maybe throw in some HIIT, push myself a bit more on my weights, make sure to hit my protein goals, and see how it goes. Also, it's good to hear how long it took people;…

I'm avoiding doing a bulk at the moment because I'm getting married in August and already bought a dress, so I'd like to keep my size fairly consistent until then!! Post-wedding I'll add bulk cycles back in though if necessary.

FYI for those looking at my diary - don't look at this week please! Look at anything before that. I took this week off and didn't track very accurately and wasn't lifting (vacation) Thanks for the tips guys. This is all very helpful!

So do you do high weight low rep? I currently do most of my exercises at 3 sets of 10, do you do 5x5s or something similar?
-
I have two actually! The one where I put my own recipes: http://pinterest.com/hannahmay12/my-recipes/ And the one where I gather other people's recipes as inspiration (some have gluten because they are from before I went GF): http://pinterest.com/hannahmay12/delicious-healthy/

I think that the important thing that he's saying is that overdoing it on the cardio and not doing anything else can slow down your metabolism. It isn't that ALL cardio is bad, it's the idea of "Still not happy with your body? Just run even more! Run all day every day!" I don't think that running is a bad idea, when it's…

Haha I get a lot of my inspiration from Pinterest when I'm creating new recipes! I often find myself having the thought "will this photograph well?" Luckily, that is a secondary thought to "will this taste really good?"

Awesome, thanks for this!

Trader Joe makes excellent vanilla meringue cookies that are like 120 calories for 4 of them (they are fairly sizeable).

Wow your days sound nutsy! I'm definitely going to reiterate my suggestion of Quest bars (within the blog) then, because they're nutritionally excellent and east to eat while you're doing other things :-)

The Brooklyn one is gorgeous, especially the Japanese gardens and the cherry blossoms. Also, their website will tell you when the cherry blossoms hit peak! http://www.bbg.org/discover/cherries

Brooklyn Botanic Garden is also free if you enter between 10 am and noon on Saturdays. Shakespeare in the Park is free but you have to be willing to go get in line at like 6 am! The High Line obviously... Ummm those are the first few I can think of but I'm sure there are more :)

I stuff them with spinach, goat cheese and feta with a little lemon juice and breadcrumbs or oatmeal mixed in to make it stick, and then bake them. SO good.

Hi, I'm Hannah and I'm 27, I live in Sunset Park in Brooklyn with my fiance and have been in NYC for 4 years. I love to lift weights and walk/hike. I have asthma and cannot run even if I'm being chased by zombies or rabid dogs or whatever. I bike occasionally but my bike is an awful one-speed so I need to upgrade. My goal…
