  • I recommend old fashion cardio. Yoga is a great way to strengthen your navel/core though.
  • I do yoga with a lot of aerobics, so I get both strength training and cardio with every workout. Really helps if you are on a tight timeline.
  • I wake up, poop, get naked, and then weigh myself. If you don't poop in the morning then you're crap out of luck! haha. Really, just be consistent and you'll be fine.
  • dude, i can soooo relate. *highfives*
  • I don't have quite as much weight to lose, but when I first started I need to drop about 60 pounds. I'm losing weight for my overall health and definitely so I can have a healthy baby. We're looking to start getting pregnant in about a year. Please feel free to friend me!
  • I remember when I got older and I got on doctor scales, etc, I was always like LOL THIS THING IS BROKEN. I lived in denial for like years that I was gaining weight and not only that - that I weighed X. I highly recommend you buy a scale and start addressing the issue - for your health! And before it gets farther out of…
  • I've lost almost 20 pounds doing Ana Brett's yoga. I highly recommend. I've lost a ton of inches too. I couple that with taking brisk walks around the block or at the park with the husband. I have a serious complex with working out at the gym. (OMG is someone looking at me?!) I have about 60 total pounds to lose (-20 i've…
  • Of course it's best to use fresh when you can - but if you have to choose, I definitely recommend frozen. They still contain a good bit of nutrients whereas canned is just loaded with salt, and the water you drain out takes most of the nutrients along with it.
  • I feel yer pain!!! I jogged 3 minutes and thought I was going to die!
  • I can't agree more. I can't believe I"m seeing things like "fine the way you are" and "don't do cardio." We're all here to help our weight and our health and we're NOT here to enable one another to continue our unhealthy habits. It's disappointing to see that happening. Back to the original post... My normal weight or so…
  • This is a lot like toscana soup. For a vegetarian version, you can use morningstar sausage crumbles instead of the sausage links. Thanks for sharing!
  • I don't think peanut butter toast was mentioned yet - with a banana. Yum. I also really love grapefruit if you have the time to sit down and eat it. Sometimes I just eat a bunch of blueberries/fruit.
  • I agree. When I "cheat" I go totally insane and revert back to old habits. A million chips. 76345 glasses of wine. We're building new habits for a healthier lifestyle, so cheat days can definitely be detrimental. edit: sure, i splurge every now and then, maybe an extra glass of wine. Maybe I will eat to "maintain" my…
  • awesome dude. super motivating.
  • It was sites like that that allowed my stalker of 5 years to find out where I live, etc. Pretty disturbing.
  • I'm not really a believer in the starvation mode thing. If you truly aren't eating enough, you're going to get unhealthy and skinnier.
  • The camera adds about 10 pounds, but when you look in the mirror, you are typically looking straight on, holding yourself just right. Seeing pictures of myself others had taken, when I -wasn't- holding my gut in, where so mortifying it was one of the reasons I got my *kitten* in gear.
  • Here is the general rule of thumb - coffee does have calories and the caffeine dehydrates you, so you can't count that as water - especially if you put cream and sugar in it. Black, green, and white teas all have caffeine, (although the latters less than the black tea) which again, dehydrates you. I don't log these because…
  • Well the truth of the matter is this - we aren't overweight because we aren't eating enough. Logging your calories is so helpful in determining where you need work. Not being active lends itself directly to your health, but it's been proven that you can lose weight through diet alone, and that is really the key. (That…
  • Oatmeal with a million blueberries is super delicious, and spices up the same old same old. I also rock peanut butter toast. Morningstar has a great sausage pattie for a quick breakfast you can pair with some toast.
  • Vegetables DO have calories. Each one is different
  • She had some peanut butter. As a vegetarian, i rely on it for a major source of protein. :) To the person who didn't see greens: She ate spinach soup. I'm not sure if it was canned soup or homemade, but if it was homemade, it could be very high in spinach. Come on people hahahaha...
  • Canned green beans generally are packed full of salt to preserve them. Veggies do have calories, but they are small. If you eat 1/2 of green beans is generally 22 calories. It can certainly add up depending on your bowl size. If you have 100 calories left, veggies is an awesome way to feel full, as opposed to eating 2…
  • What's your daily goal? If you've got yourself set for 1200 calories, it just might not be right for you. I would be okay a few days and then every now and then I would get SOOOO hungry I would pig out on whatever I could and totally ruin it. I recommend losing no more than 1 pound a week. I don't feel anywhere near as…
  • Some people just have no inhibitions when it comes to social interactions on the internet. Be comforted that in real life, they are scared, insecure, and probably unhappy.
  • I used to bike to myth busters and that weird show that shows you how to make things, from toothbrushes to motorcycle engines.
  • Ditto. Except I'm 167 currently :/
  • The husband always grabs a banana on the way out the door.
  • I really dig this site for quick meals and snacks that are pretty healthy: http://webecoist.com/2008/10/28/14-quick-vegetarian-recipes-for-the-hopeless-cook/
