Awesome news Minka!

I lost a newborn calf and a 2 month old horse. If anyone finds them I don't want them back.

It will get easier the 1st 2 or 3 days are the hardest. Sugar free Popsicles were my friend. Sucking on ice chips or even chewing ice chips was also helpful for me.

I haven't had coffee for a year now, I gave it up on a day off from work and got a slight headache but otherwise I don't really miss it. I used to not eat breakfast on basically live on coffee all day until dinner time and then it was non-stop eating until I was stuffed. Don't miss that either.

Congratulations on your loss and sorry to hear about your troubles. My doctor told me to take my iron pill with a vitamin c pill before bed every day. He said the vitamin c will help my body absorb the iron and that iron reserves build the most when you are sleeping. He also said to make sure not to take calcium pills…

I'm sitting here sipping some Twining's Peppermint Tea as I'm reading your post. :drinker:

The upper GI or Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy is pretty much standard before Gastric Bypass surgery. When I had mine done they found a pretty bad ulcer so I was very glad that they found it before it caused me severe problems. That however set me back another o months waiting for the ulcer to heal. It does sound like…

I would agree that you should plan on taking a month off. You are better off planning what you can in advance as there is really no way to predict complications, how your body is going to react to the stress from the surgery and how quickly you will recover. I had RNY and was very glad that I had put in for a month of…

Welcome! The only regret that I have is that I didn't do it 10 years ago. :)

Since surgery I always got hungry when I smelled food, but I knew I couldn't eat it if I tried so I assumed that is what is known as head hunger not real hunger. Since surgery I have more or less had to make myself eat every few hours as well as force myself to constantly sip water. I think you'll find when you first start…

My doctor said no coffee or for that matter caffeine for 6 months after surgery since caffeine is an irritant and can cause problems with the healing of the pouch. After 6 months they recommend no more than 1 cup per day of coffee. The thing that worries me about coffee is that I drank it with cream and sugar and since my…

Best of luck on your surgery. It will be over before you know it. Honestly with worst part was the pain in my chest/abdomen from the gas bubble but once I moved around enough to get rid of that I didn't need any pain medicine. Two things that no one warned me about prior to the surgery that I found out afterwards were that…

Once a week any more is just information overload to me. High salt one day could lead to more water retention the next etc. and would make me paranoid on a daily basis. I have been attending mandatory weekly workout/education sessions at the hospital for the last four months ( since surgery) and have weighed in only there.
-
The program that I went through a has mandated 12 weekly after surgery workout/education sessions. So yes, I'm just finishing those up now. There are also voluntary monthly meetings, I'll probably start doing those after I finish the weeklies.

I'm about 3 months of out of RNY and just about reaching 1000 calories per day. I was told 1st to focus on liquid, then protein and then fiber/vegetables in that order. Keep up with your supplements too that is huge for us folks from what I have read, been taught and heard :). One tip if you don't want your non-WLS MFP…

Congratulations Jessie, you look great!

I see no problem in you wanting to keep it to yourself. I tell anyone that really wants to know because it may actually get them curious about if it would work for themselves, a friend or family member. Most people at work know because I took four weeks off for recovery. Outside of work not a lot of people know but that's…

I have been sleeping better than before my surgery, sometimes I sleep eight hours straight without waking at night so I have had lots of energy during the day in fact more than I can ever remember having in the past. If you haven't already had your blood levels checked you may want to ask your doctor to get them for you,…

Oops I'm a little scared now as I have been eating salads for two weeks now with no problems and I'm 6 weeks out. I guess every person must be different and my doctor and nutritionist said nothing about eating lettuce so I just did it. My nutritionist told me at 4 weeks to eat more vegetables so that's when I started with…
