  • When in doubt always call your doctor. That's what you pay him for. Hope your problem goes away quickly.
  • My advice is that you stick to exactly what the doctor orders. These changes you are making will be with you for the rest of your life and the quicker you figure that out for yourself the better off you will be. The pre-op regiment your doctor ordered are for your safety during surgery. If your liver gets nicked because it…

  • Congratulations and thank you for reaching out to others through your actions.
  • I lost Arnold Schwarzenegger and his cat. Hope he stays lost too!
  • I gained about 20 pounds during the week that I was in the hospital for my surgery even though I wasn't eating they were feeding me fluids intravenously. It took about 2 or 3 weeks for that to come off then I lost pretty steadily about 2 or pounds per week for the rest of the 1st year after surgery. I wouldn't worry about…
  • I just had one repaired in November. It was day surgery and I was home 5 hours after I left my house. The surgery itself took about 20 minutes where they repaired the hernia using some sort of mesh from what I was told since I was sleeping while it was done. I was surprised that there were no stitches to remove afterwards…
  • Can you eat other soft foods now like greek yogurt or cottage cheese? If you can it may be nice to have a little variety.
  • I take the Twin Labs brand sub-lingual B12, they are tiny little purple pills that you put under your tongue and dissolve quickly and taste decent. My Nutritionist has me taking one every three days since my levels were so high on my last 2 blood tests.

  • I flunked my 1st test as well being too good to be true the doctor said it was because I was anticipating what the proper answers were to make me normal. I had thoughts that perhaps the doctor had people take the tests twice .so he could bill the insurance company again, since the second time I took the tests there was…
  • My nutritionist recommended Vitron-C as well since the vitamin c makes it easier for your body to absorb the iron. Since I have always been a little anemic my primary doctor has prescribed 325 mg daily of Ferrous Sulfate which is actually a lot cheaper for me even with buying vitamin c since I have insurance for…
  • Sorry i guess it's too big for this forum. All I did was add the hypertext img and /img tags before and after the link in brackets of course. :).
  • I also gained over 10 pounds while I was in the hospital from all the liquids they pumped into me. Your body needs time to get back to normal after the shock of surgery. Give it time and try not to worry about the scale and numbers. Your surgery will do it's job and your weight will start to drop.
  • Welcome to one of the best places that I have found for support, help and caring people on the internet, just watch out for the general forums :) I am a little over a year out since my Gastric Bypass and I have to say that it was the single best decision that I have ever made for myself in my life. Friend request sent.
  • Good luck on your surgery. Let us know how you are doing when you get done with it. Walmart and or your local supermarket or drugstore are probably both cheaper than GNC for vitamins. I know my local Stop & Shop has vitamins on sale at least once per month at buy one get one free at least once per month. The calcium pills…

  • 1. When was your surgery? April 23, 2012 2. Where from? (don't need to specify city or anything just general state or country is fine) Massachusetts 3. Your Dr.'s/dietitian's stand on soda after surgery? No soda before or after 4. Your Dr.'s/dietitian's stand on straws after surgery? Never use them 5. Your…
  • I had a umbilical hernia repaired last fall and was out of work for 2 weeks but I have a job that does require some lifting, I wore an abdominal binder for about a month and that helps. The pain was a lot higher right after after the hernia surgery than my RNY surgery I was surprised since they sent me home the next day. I…

  • The Lap Band seems to be a more popular option for women than for men for sure, but I am sure there are some guys out there I guess guys just don't post on forums as much as women, In my post surgical mandatory 12 weeks of nutrition and exercise classes there were about 20 people on average and only about 2 or 3 other…

  • "Alcohol is basically a type of sugar and it slows down a patient’s weight loss and may cause dumping syndrome. It contains lots of calories and is not nutritional. After surgery, alcohol enters the blood stream more quickly than before surgery. The intoxicating effects of alcohol occur sooner than before surgery and after…
  • i doubt that you should be worrying about 80 calories from clementines or tangerines. Try changing up your exercise routine a little instead of trying to get below 1200 calories. Also a pound per week sounds like a good sustainable weight loss plan to me.... just saying :) at 2 pounds or more per week eventually you would…
  • I was told no Nsaids after surgery. and I know from personal experience that they cause ulcers since I had one.
  • Just finished my workout for the day and it's almost 7:00am. Merry Christmas!
  • I found a wiki article on it which I'll post a little bit below. I haven't really experienced it myself yet at 6 months out but I have been really uncomfortable after eating some really dense foods like chicken too quickly. I have avoided ice cream, sweets and high carb snacks like the plague since surgery as don't want to…
  • Oops I hit enter to early while trying to fix all my typos. Good luck, you have come this far so stick with it. You got this!
  • I don't really have any words of wisdom but rather a suggestion that you fully commit to the process. The surgery itself is a tool to help keep you on the path but you need to take it seriously and stay with it. I suggest that you give up coffee and soda now as well as totally quitting smoking. Try to live and eat as you…
