Thank you for re-posting that. It's inspirational for all.

Welcome to MFP, This place rocks although the regular (non-group) forums can be full of drama but they are easy to avoid.

I don't think you can really help change anyone until they are ready. If they ask for help then try your best to help them but if they don't stay with it then it's not your fault. One of my mottoes to help with that type of stress is "don't worry about things over which I have you have no control." As far as talking about…

I'm one month post RNY today. I lost 125lbs in the 9 months from my 1st appointment with my surgeon through the date of my surgery. I actually gained 15 pounds in the hospital over 6 days from IV fluids (complications kept me in ICU for 3 of those days). In the last 4 weeks I lost 25 pounds (10 plus the fluids from the…

I don't think that they have been doing WLS long enough to have any solid numbers for how long anyone could expect to live after surgery. I'm 58 and just had mine a month ago and wish that I had done it years ago.

Good luck tomorrow! can't wait to see you back here in a couple of days. :) I'll be thinking about you all day.

Congrats! That must be an awesome feeling seeing you are no longer obese but considered normal. I hope to see that myself someday :)

Hang in there you are doing great, My only advice to offer is to make sure to stay hydrated, I followed my pre-surgery diet to the t drinking at least 72 ounces per day but was still a bit dehydrated when i went to surgery and they were adding liquids to me by iv for a couple of days.

Way to go, it's not easy but it's so worth it.

Hi Kate, Jim here, welcome to this group I'm newly back from surgery myself had my RNY on April 23rd. This site is great for tracking meals and also for support.
-
Welcome to the group! I'm 2 weeks out from my RNY and this site has helped a lot.
-
Way to go! I can't wait to see that day myself.

Welcome back! I wish I had the courage to have had my RnY years ago like you did, I just had mine by laproscopy last Monday and spent 6 days in the hospital after having some sort of reaction to the anesthesia. You got the weight off before and you know you can do it again. There are lots of great people here on…

Sausage, peppers and onion sandwich and a beer or whatever drink you like. After all how often do you get to go to a ball game. Also it's going to be cold and damp tonight so the food will help you keep warm.

^^^^^ Seconded.

I'm just home from the hospital today from my Gastric bypass and was shocked to see that i actually gained about 10 pounds in the hospital. I had complications from the Anesthesia or the morphine and ended up spending 3 days in the ICU getting pumped with fluids and blood so perhaps that is the reason for my gain. I'm not…

On my last day, surgery tomorrow morning. Looking back it wasn't so bad although there were a couple of tough days. Tomato soup helped a lot the second week, I had forgot it was on list the 1st week. :)

I'm not 60 yet but closing in at 58. Never to old to start taking care of ourselves. This website is a good tool with a great community to help us all achieve our goals. Add me if you want although i am a bit shy on posting. :)

4 days to go and I'm no longer missing the crunchy things I guess I'm just used to it. Lost 6 more pounds in the last week so I guess not only my liver is getting smaller with the liquid diet. Thank you all for your comments.

I forgot that I could have tomato soup as long as I didn't have it every day so I had some yesterday and it was awesome so for my only hot food of the day I am going to alternate between Tomato soup and chicken broth. :) On Day 9 now and it's still hard but I'm not hungry. The biggest problem I have with this is that…

I'm on day 5 of my 2 week liquid presurgery diet today and it's really not that bad. Different doctors and programs apparently use slightly different diets mine calls for 3 Carnation Instant Breakfasts per day with a cup of Non-fat milk ( they specify Hood's Simply Smart brand) and I am also allowed one serving of fruit,…

Today was day 4, I'm not really really hungry but I could eat some toast or nuts. Thanks for the tip on the ice chips that helps a little to get some crunch in.

First my face, then my hands and then collarbones.

Hi everybody, my name is Jim and I just got my surgery date for gastric bypass for April 23rd, going for pre-surgery testing today with the anesthesia folks.

Broscience is Word of mouth knowledge passed off as fact, primarily among bodybuilders + weightlifters. Generally spouted most by guys who have used loads of steroids and are huge, have no idea what is happening to their bodies and then share that same cluelessness with others who make the false assumption that their…
