  • I'm in NoVA- so not sure if it helps but Crossfit Impavidus in Ashburn or HammerDown in Chantilly are both great :)

  • I would also try using either a foam roller or "the stick" on your calves. If your calves are tight, it can lead to pain in your shins - I was surprised at how much this helped me. (I have both, but I prefer the stick over the roller for my calves)
  • me too :)
  • Well, it's good that he's still so young- i would at least contact a trainer for a consultation/basic puppy class and see how that goes. You do noooot need to "break" a puppy...Positive reinforcement only! No alpha rolls or things of that nature (I'm hoping that's not what the vet suggested). I'll wait til you add me and…
  • If you post a picture, I might be able to help you out on the mix..blue heeler (australian cattle dog) and australian shepherds are 2 different breeds- so maybe he is a mix of those two. Either way, the fact that a puppy (how old is he now?) is showing this much aggression is abnormal and not a breed trait of any of these…
  • Do you have a pic? I'm not sure how the two could be confused.. Where did you get the puppy from? If a shelter/rescue, contact them and let them know it's not working. Terriers, in general, have high prey drives (it is what they were bred for), so obviously it wouldn't be the best choice for guarding chickens- especially…
  • It might surprise you - I think we started around the same time, and I've been eating at my cut and seeing no results as well..I went to the beach for 4 days and ate at and above my TDEE, with no exercise and lost a pound. I think you should just eat the same amount you are now, don't workout and enjoy the rest!
  • I just signed up for crossfit..Had my training/intro and my first real WOD will be next week...I might be terrified. haha
  • Yes, sorry, I didn't mean they would quick them, just that they could get them shorter than if he were struggling against them.
  • You could try a dremel to file his nails down instead of clipping them. Some dogs are much better for that. If he just won't allow his feet to be touched then as someone else mentioned, he might need to be sedated (they should be able to cut them pretty short though in that case, so he won't have to have it done every few…
  • I was actually sick about 2 weeks ago so I took a week off then. Before that, right after st Patrick's day because I ran a half.
  • and I've stopped using my HRM for weightlifting because I heard it was only accurate for cardio... it really shouldn't be this complicated!
  • Yep..that's the dilemna..I have no idea which to go by. I'm trying to just use the BMF since it should be more accurate..but it is a little disappointing to see lower numbers. ETA - I think the problem with HRMs is, your heart rate can go up for non-exercise reasons, and it will count it towards burning more calories when…
  • I know exactly what you mean! I am driving myself crazy with all these numbers and questioning which to go by! For now, I'm just relying mostly on the BMF and hopefully I will see something happen...sooon! lol
  • I have the link - not sure if that's what you have..but for me, during a workout I sync it to my phone and then you can go to workouts and start one- it will show steps/calories burned/etc similar to a HRM. Or, I believe if you go to the activity manager online, you can narrow down a timeframe and it will show the calories…
  • It's sounds like 3400 is you're TDEE (what you burn each day including your activity), not your BMR(what you'd burn in a coma basically). So by eating 2400 you'd have a 1000 calorie deficit each day (-2lbs/week). It does sound right, I am 5'6/5'7 and 158-ish and I just raised my calories to average 2000/day. You can look…
  • I have both, and my BMF is definitely lower. I use my BMF for strength and running, and my HRM for things like "Insanity" because it doesn't pick up on the movements as well. I also have 2 HRMs.. a Polar f4 and a Garmin 410 - my BMF is more similar to the Garmin readings, Polar is higher...it's all confusing!
  • Yeah, I bought a used one on ebay and I still get 3 months free..So you can always use it for a few months and cancel the subscription before you owe anything. (although it's only $6 a month) I think it's definitely worth it, my TDEE ended up lower than the online calcs suggested (figures...) so I was eating at and above…
  • Just like counting calories, you can eat whatever you want within your range...granted, it's probably not best to just eat candy bars all day but if it provides a deficit a person could still lose doing it. The extra points are because on their own, the daily points add up to only around 1000 calories.
  • Hal Higdon's plans are definitely great, I used novice and novice 2 for my first 2 halfs. I'm trying the FIRST (Furman) training plan this go around for my halfs in Sept and Oct. It incorporates more speedwork (similar to Higdon's novice 2) and is only 3 days a week :) A friend had great success with it, so I'm hoping it…
  • Did you try double tracking before completely quitting ww? I know for myself, and several others, I was drastically undereating in order to stay within points. You're diary isn't open so I'm not sure what your calorie goal is- but it could be that you're either not eating enough, or that you're eating too much. On ww I was…
  • I love my Camelbak. I got the smaller woman's version and use it all the time, including in races (I PR'd by being able to run right through all the water stops :) ) It doesn't hold as much, I think about 32oz? But it's plenty - I normally use less than half but it's nice to have more just in case. It's not noticeably…

  • Your band size went down which made your cup size go up :) 36C=34D=32DD, so your probably actually bigger than a DD!
  • So do you ask a person their reason for implants before saying they look tacky? Probably not.
  • The rude part is saying all implants are tacky. I don't think I need to further explain that...
  • Isn't that like telling someone not to lose too much weight because guys don't like that? I didn't realize you spoke for all men. I don't think everyone should be jumping to implants as a solution, but there's no reason for people to bash the decision either. Also, would you be bashing a reconstructive implant procedure?
  • Well that's rude. That may be your opinion but I bet you would be surprised. The majority of implants do not look "tacky." and if that is what someone chooses to do, it shouldn't affect your opinion. Also, a 34D to a 32C is not a drastic change so you likely don't have many of the "symptoms" described.
  • My garmin reads a lot lower than my polar as well. I think the polar is more accurate. Kind of disappointing, but I just use the garmin for running an the polar for everything else.
  • Haha- Oh, I guarantee I will be addicted to it at first- I just meant as time goes on..but you're probably right and I'll be addicted foreverrrr!
  • I agree with using the scooby calculator to keep things consistant - it doesn't look like you chose the right activity level though... I would say you're in between moderate and strenuous, so maybe check what those values would be for you and go in between? That's what I'm trying at the moment, and I have a similar workout…
