  • Also a possibility there. My best guess is that I was between the two sizes and the fat loss around my ribs finally made my body prefer one size over the other. I was probably almost gapping in the DD and barely spilling over in the D.
  • LOL! I definitely hear what you're saying. But I'm insecure about my girls not holding up as I get older (or even just now), so I'm always in the market for a good supportive bra. I'd look into the pros and cons of wearing compression bras (assuming those are the types of sports bras you use) all the time though.
  • I think I've reached that point but I just wish I had a definite answer. Not a fanatic of keto specifically, but I do have a tendency to micromanage things LOL so I guess that's where the original post stems from. Also out of curiosity to find out what works for others.
  • No worries, I'm not offended but I think you may have misunderstood the intention or misread the post. Zero carbs is not an option, nor is it anywhere near feasible for anyone to be healthy that way. As mentioned in my original post, keto is normally limiting carbs to 20-100g a day. I'd consider it the lower carb end of…
  • I know it varies from person to person, but I've always done the bust difference before rounding the band size, but that's because I round down instead of rounding up. If you're measuring 31 and 33, then I'd put you in a 30B (that is, if we carried that in store  ) I'm currently measuring at 35 and 41, so 6 = DDD,…
  • The bending over at waist measurement never worked for me, probably because gravity works against me, if you know what I mean. LOL. Otherwise I'd be a 34I instead of a 34F. As for VS bras, believe me when I say I've tried on every bra currently in the store, and for each I've been fitted to be the same size (A solid 36D in…
  • IMO with keto/low carb, if you can really learn to listen to your body, the weight loss/reduced calories is practically incidental. No need to monitor ketones or calories religiously once you start to get familiar.
  • I don't suppose I've ever gained weight while in ketosis. I just don't get hungry enough to eat more than maintenance calories and gain. I feel a lot more in tune with my appetite when I eat low carb (regardless of keto status). Carbs make me want to eat more carbs. Keto keeps me full so even on the days that I do go over…
  • From my own personal experience and working in a bra store, I feel like most everyone has used a sister size where the band is too loose. I think this is probably the most common way women wear the wrong size. It might just be me not being a teenager anymore but I feel like a majority of women I encounter are navigating…
  • I'm sure that my size was correct when I purchased it, just not anymore LOL. Sorry to hear about your woes. Next time you look for bras, make sure that you fit them to the larger cup. If there isn't too large of a difference, I'd suggest trying cream bras that are better at molding around your tissue. If you feel there is…
  • LOL no worries. I should have made it more clear in my original post. I know my correct size and needed to go up a true cup size (36D to DD, or as you have it, 4" to 5" difference). I was just trying to figure out the cause.
  • :joy: :joy: :joy:
  • I'd like to imagine a world where bra sizes are determined by cup first (by volume) and then by length of the band. Now wouldn't that be something? :D
  • I'm not sure about the D for D thing, in the most simplistic sense, a D means your bust measures 4 inches larger than your band. But I know they've done funky measurement methods in the past. I just go with the methods I know have worked for me, regardless of how I was "trained." The minimal size range is true though but I…
  • That's what I meant. Start with a bra size, find a bra you are interested in to try on, and then adjust size from there. Step 2 is where I take suggestions. I actually do work at VS and I'm sure I know a thing or two (though I will admit apart from the actual hands-on experience, I already knew quite a bit before working…
  • Oh yeah, one more question: Can anyone recommend a bra with a thin center gore?
  • I know Nordstrom is put up there as a good standard for quality bra fittings, but I've run across too many people in the past that have no idea what they're doing. Again, sizing/fitting knowledge is different than knowledge of different brands, style and silhouettes. I definitely appreciate their suggestions on the latter…
  • I was just upset because every style of bra I need (and then some), is less than 6 months old and are now not my size. I guess I'll have to let go of the notion of my complete bra wardrobe for now until I get to a size that is more lasting, otherwise I'll end up with another half a dozen bras to box up and save just in…
  • This makes sense because the cup sizes are equivalent, you just put on a tighter band. Think of it this way: 34DDD + bra extender = 36DD
  • Good idea on the buying lower-priced ones at a minimal quantity. I think once I try on a specific bra, I know where to go from there. I definitely appreciate a bra fitter's knowledge of different brands and styles, even if I don't necessarily need their expertise in sizing.
  • Again, I needed the bigger cup size before even attempting to size down the band. So I'm still not sure exactly what's going on but I guess it is what it is. Maybe we should all start a pool of gently-used bras until we all hit our goal weights. LOL
  • No need to be jealous! I'd kill to have as flat of a stomach as you do. If I were you though, I'd double check that the B cup bras you have are snug enough in the band.
  • That makes sense, but all things being equal the 34DDD cup is still bigger than the 36D cup. So I don't know that just the math is enough to explain it. Thank you ladies for your input, I'm a lot less confused by the reasons for the change but I'm feeling much more confident now about buying in my new size. I guess if it…
  • That last comment was what I was afraid of LOL. To clarify, I did all my new fitting in regular bras, the sport bra was just the catalyst. I think you're onto something about the size flab and breast shape thing.
  • I agree that bigger overall is the most unlikely scenario. I would agree that decreasing the band should be the reason, but I was very comfortable in my 36D not too long ago and went up a cup size before even attempting the smaller band. If that were the case, wouldn't I be fitting in the 34DD instead of the 34DDD?
  • This may be a silly question but does anyone know if the calculator uses total carbs or net carbs? I didn't see where it specifies. Thanks!
  • Saw this post and had to ask if OP is filipino? LOL. I can't imagine processed food is the best thing for you to have all the time, but it does work. And it's great because it's something the rest of my non-keto family and friends will eat, so long as I can avoid the side of fried rice or pan de sal.
  • Looking at your original post, my first thoughts jumped to insulin spikes if you are going over carbs. And of course, your weight can fluctuate a lot, especially as a woman. May I ask, how often are you weighing yourself that you are seeing this pattern? If you are seeing this fluctuation from day to day, I'd drop the…
  • I love this thread. You might be a keto dieter if... you order a bunless burger with an extra side of mayo :)
  • Thanks! The calculator helps to actually put a number on it instead of trying to just visualize or feel keto. I also continued reading into the "spiking" article about hormesis, which sort of explains how I was losing weight the first time I did keto with cheat days once a week. I thought that cutting the cheat days would…
