5 lbs in one week seems excessive (you would have to overeat a ton) so I bet it's water weight
-
It seems like your dr should refer you to a dietician rather than a specific diet.
-
I like the idea of a "buffer" it's much easier than trying to track every little bite. Now if you have a very strict goal or very little wiggle room then a buffer would not work since you would need to be a lot more accurate.

Maybe try and find a workout video that is slightly more difficult to keep building on your fitness level. I think Jillian Michaels actually has more difficult videos you could check out.

If I'm short on time I just put my lil guy in the stroller and walk the neighborhood. If I'm not short on time my husband watches my son and I go to the gym.

For some reason eating a grapefruit and drinking a cup of coffee helps me. But if you aren't "uncomfortable" then it's fine to go less frequently.

Eat less fat in other foods for the day?
-
I'm just getting started again also. I used to run long distance and would like to get back to that. My husband and I are starting paleo tomorrow, just got done emptying out the cupboards!

14min is a great start. Atleast you are trying. My one tip to beginner runners is make sure you don't start running to fast. So next time you try make sure you are truly jogging, go nice and slow, it's not a sprint!

Maybe it is as simple as just taking a break from exercise for 2-4 weeks. Sometimes our bodies just need a break.

I'm 5'8 I find I look good between 150-165. At 137 a lot of people thought I was anorexic. I think I'm big boned so I look very bony with lower body fat. I actually cringe now when I look at photos from 137 and that is actually the middle of the normal weight for those who are 5'8.

A few years ago I tried lipodrene (had ephedra in it) and I lost weight, looked the best I ever looked, and lifted and ran better than ever. However, every time I took it I was afraid I was going to have a heart attack and then eventually it was taken off the market.

Dark angel: I think you need to quit giving advice. There is no way to get protein/fat needs without calories. There is nothing injectable to meet those needs that does not contain calories also. There are ways to meet peoples need wih injections (tpn) for sick people who cannot eat, but that contains calories!

I think the important thing is that you are doing SOMETHING. I think you need to consistently workout, but I don't think you need to consistently do the same program. The only thing is if you do the same program it is easier to tell if you are progressing any (getting fitter), but as long as you are putting intensity into…

I don't think you need to quit jogging. i think you just need to change up the intensity. Like jog at your usual pace for 2 minutes then increase pace to slightly difficult for a minute then switch back to easy pace and repeat.

I think when you work out your muscles can be swollen (retaining water) the following day and you will weigh more. I say try drinking a little more water.
-
Get a digital scale? If not an option I say just make sure you always do it the same way, either slouch every time or stand straight up then at least you will have a consistent trend.
-
I've experienced this before also. But not sure what the cause really is, could be many things as usually when I'm working out more I'm also watching my diet a little more and probably drinking less frequently.

Fruit, nuts, granola bar..You can make your own snack mix with things you like if you just want to munch. Sometimes I put a handful of almonds with some honey nut chex cereal (my favorite) in the snack size baggies, but you could use whatever you like, even add a few chocolate chips. Protein powder, just add water when you…

People do it on biggest loser and extreme makeover so it is obviously possible. Doesn't mean it is necessarily healthy and you would have to be extremely committed.

I don't think anyone here was yelling their opinionated all for or against rants.

Socajam: I'm absolutely not kidding, I am actually very well versed in the anatomy and physiology of the intestine as it is a large part of my career. The average transit time from mouth to rectum is 22-33 hours.

The normal person should not defecate 3x per day. Normal can be like 2x/day to 1 x every other day. You could always add a stool softener. But if you don't feel constipated and you are getting your recommended daily fiber and drinking plenty of fluids I wouldn't worry about it.

http://jama.jamanetwork.com/Mobile/article.aspx?articleid=1108368 This was a randomized controlled study that basically showed that metabolism decreases with prolonged calorie restriction. The problem with 1200 cal diets isn't that you can't lose weight on them it's the fact that your bmr decreases and makes maintenance…
-
Push-ups for me too. I always want to stop before I even start.
-
My only concern is how you are going to maintain as you said you gained weight at 1700. Your metabolism must really be shot. Do you lift weights at all?
-
I'm in!
-
Congrats! I bet you had a blast.

I think it is funny everyone here has negative comments about the menu change, mcdonalds would never have had to make these changes had people not complained and used fast good as the excuse for obesity in the US.

Has your diet changed? Are you significantly under eating and it is now catching up to you? Are you dehydrated? Are you doing other workouts on top of it that you weren't previously? Do you have rest days?
