  • Thanks for this!
  • In the UK, you can buy fresh sardines in some fishmongers and supermarkets, they are pretty popular over here (fresh version) and quite a few high end restaurants have sardines on their menus. In the states, I am not so sure....
  • I think you may have failed to read properly. I said FRESH sardines. Not tinned. So yes, very helpful answer indeed...
  • I think quite a few of you are missing out on a very nutritious food here (though fair enough if you dont like the taste). I personally don't believe the silly, small minded stigma attached to the name "sardine" it's frankly rather snobby: Health Benefits: •Sardines are considered as brain food because the omega-3 fatty…
  • Wow, blown away by your incredibly intelligent wit.
  • Fantastically helpful answers so far. This post was asking for ideas, not asking if you (or your pet) like sardines......
  • that sounds beautiful! nice recipe, i shall be trying this out for sure.

  • Thinly sliced, sauteed in olive oil, sea salt and crushed garlic, then serve alone or mixed in with any green lefy vegetable of your choice. It flavours food similarly to the way onion does and when sauteed, it goes caramelised and sweet - I LOVE them and eat them almost every day. Another idea: steamed sliced leeks until…

  • So a quick update: after a few glasses of beer and a reaaaaalllllly long dancing session - the crick just disappeared. Moral of the story.....dancing the night away makes all the pain go away :) Disclaimer: I am not a doctor this is just my own personal experience
  • CYCLING!!! And Swimming. Both amazingly good for you, and so much more pleasurable (in my humble opinion). I hate running too, it's horrible and definitely not for me. I walk fast, on a high incline on the treadmill, that's just as effective for a cardio workout - just walk in beat to some good music. Good luck!
  • That my friend, is correct! Haha you dont know me at all, but yet you know me so very well :drinker: Thanks for the tip btw. Ibuprofen is my saviour (after food of course, never ever on an empty stomach)
  • Thank you SO MUCH everyone, I really appreciate all these fantastic suggestions. I am sitting at work right now so will sneak to the ladies bathroom and do some of these movements and have just taken ibuprofen which I hope will help....full report to follow! Can't get away with not dancing tonight - I've been wanting to go…
  • Totally with you on that...in fact I think people who have a genuine keen interest in food, teamed with a great passion for it, have a knack of making healthy food taste even better. Now I have discovered so many ways to enjoy vegetables, fruit, lean meats and brown carbs and pulses all through my obsession with food.…
  • That's not to say I disagree that the purpose of food first and foremost is to fuel us humans. I'm just saying that I disagree that people dont put 'way too much emphasis on the pleasure of eating', it's a way of life and millions of people all over the world base their entire waking lives around food and it's social and…
  • Hmmm I am not too sure I agree with all of that. I think food is one of life's greatest pleasures, along with others obvious pleasures of course. I suppose each to their own, but personally I am not obese or even near obese but I am totally obsessed with food - I watch food TV, I plan my meals, I love food shopping,…
  • It is always the way when you're in a loving relationship, food seems to dominate as well as snuggling (oh yeah and sex, but food becomes equally as important, wierd, isnt it?) I used to feel sick and not be hungry before when I first started dating my other half (anniversary is 3 years in Jan) as was too exctied and…
  • I'm learning recently that calling it a lifestyle change is so much more effective than calling it a diet and it's much easier to stick to than dreading the ryvita and porridge and fruit/veg meals for the rest of next week etc. Life without any treats would not be one worth living, to me.
  • Some great ideas there :drinker: Eat some cold boiled egg whites with low fat or fat free mayo and a slice of brown bread (or pre-make it and put it all in a tupperware for on-the-go snack) egg whites keep me full for a lot longer than any other snacks.
  • I have that all the time, cant work out what it is, am going to my docs to find out and will let you know what they suggest and come back to you in case it's a similar problem. Feel dizzy and bit blurry and defo light headed, just sitting here at my desk. often is worse in the mornings.
  • Those are kcal/30min: Sleeping: 19 Sitting reading: 34 Standing: 38 Cooking: 75 That piece of info, was really useful - thanks
  • I usually love sweet and savoury but this just exceeds the top spot on my RANK GROSS VILE & DISGUSTING foods list 2011
  • exactly, and then resent the whole idea of dieting or changing your eating habits permanently.
  • 1) What is GERD? 2) Why is it that I always sleep so incredibly well after eating 30 minutes before I go to sleep? Thanks :)
  • I'll be more than happy to help - but 1420 a day is pretty good and you can more or less eat any healthy and filling meals you like, obviously not burger and fries and pizza and sausages etc every night, but you've got a decent amount of leeway.
  • I am SO GLAD to hear this, guys. I always eat late, not fattening food but just later than most people I know as I get home late. Music to my ears.
  • How wierd, maybe this site is having a few glitches... Thanks v. much for your input everyone. I tried Pilates - firstly I didnt like the instructor, he was so uninterested and secondly, the whole idea of counting breaths so meticulously put me right off. I did it twice but it didnt leave me feeling even half as…
  • YES! Me too, my stomach always growls during the class - it makes me so hungry?!!
  • Well done for the weight loss! Unfortunately I am not the type of person that can eat 3 meals a day and be satisfied. If I was, I'm sure I'd weigh less by now. I prefer to eat around 6 times a day, obviously smaller meals. Also I see you dont have hot drinks - I like a couple of mocha coffees and a couple of white (sweet)…
  • calories before acounting for any exercise calories. if i burn say 600 caloires in a day, my goal changes to 2100 calories which is beautiful to see, means I can have a bigger dinner and i'd often come in at around 1,500 total anyway so if that doesnt help me lose weight, i dont know what will.
  • Thats sounds really well balanced, I like your style. I am the same when I dont get enough food; I feel cheated. We work hard, we exercise hard, we deserve to eat well and feel fulfilled so eating back exercise calories and sticking to your goal at the end of every day will clearly pay off in the long run. Here's to…
