  • Hi Bryan, I've re-downloaded the run app after a long hiatus. I'm currently walk/ running to get back into the swing of things. Will add you, if you don't mind. Happy new year! Elena
  • Kake- if 1 day a week is what you've got for gym time, then start there. The point is to start and use whatever time you have instead of thinking about all the time you don't have. Try it. See what happens. I guarantee you that you'll feel better about this. :)
  • What do you do after you take the kids to their activities? Do you wait around for them? If so you could spend the time doing body weight exercises like planks or squats. You could also try starting at 5 minutes per day as soon as you get home from work or as soon as you get up, or maybe when you are cooking. Which ever…
  • I made this today. Serves 4. Calorie count approximately 390 per serving. Enjoy! 4 cups raw portobello mushrooms, sliced 1/2 onion, diced 1 tbsp olive oil 10 oz. Whole wheat pasta (I used penne) 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup 1/4 cup milk Saute first 3 ingredients on medium heat while pasta is cooking. Don't forget…
  • I'm in! Check your messages.
  • Kind.... great job on spin! The only workout I've had this morning is telling my kids to stop fighting. 🙄 I use Fitbit, which I believe syncs with MFP, so you should be able to see the progress. More importantly, I've opened my food diary to friends for the visibility. Have a good day ladies!
  • Ditto. I'm 42, mom of twin 8 year old boys, work full time. I've been recreationally active most of my life, but just sort of stopped last year and gained 10 lbs :( This app helped me lose most of the baby weight 7 yrs ago. Need some MFP buddies for the middle aged weight!
  • Thanks for starting the group! If I can figure out my FB password, I'll be joining!
  • Hi Sarah - I'm in! Please add me. Let's do this!

  • Awesome! I'm in! I just started getting back into tri training this month after a 3 year hiatus, so this is perfect. OCT totals: Bike: 2h 05m - 28.4 Mi Run: 1h 31m 24s - 6.51 Mi Swim: 28m - 1400 Yd - .79 Mi BTW - I'm on BeginnerTriathlete.com (same user name) if any is interested in tracking your tri training there and…
  • Let's get this party started.
  • I would join you but my twins have managed to make a piece of my wii board disappear. We've been looking for it for 2 weeks!
  • Don't sell yourself short. 7 months is a lot of time to prepare. Spend the next three months slowly building up your mileage and then start your marathon training program. Forget about the time goal and focus on finishing. You might just surprise yourself. p.s. I say this with the idea in mind that you will be mindful of…
  • I'll be running my first marathon next year at the Marine Corps Marathon. Jeff Galloway has written a ton of info on the marathon topic and has a good training plan. Google him and you'll find some good info. My marathon plan is 4 months long, and is assuming that I can only run 4 miles when I start it. Best of luck! p.s.…
  • I love a good swim. It helps me tune out the world for a while. Any exercise is good for weight loss. Swimming vs. Running: it certainly doesn't burn as many calories as running, but if you swim more consistently than you run, then it only makes sense to keep it up!
  • Ummm...you need to find a different person to take advice from. By all means run. But make sure you start your regimen in a safe manner. Start with a walk/jog program (there are plenty of free "couch to 5k" programs on the web) and work your way up to a full run workout. p.s. You'll burn more fat if you keep your heart…
  • Hi NaughtyPants (love the screen name). I'm sort of in the same boat. I've been on this site for a month, but have recently found that I need MFP friends to keep me on track (I.E. I need someone to kick my *kitten* when I stray to far from the goals I've set). So, with that said, I'll be your kick in the pants to help you…
  • There aren't many 5'2"ers around here! Much less ones starting at the same weight I am. I understand just how far 11 (or 16) lbs can go on those thighs! GW: 110 CW: 126 Ht: 5'2" Age: 34
  • I workout with the Garmin Forerunner 210. The calorie output from my HRM is actually lower than MFP. Everyone's metabolism is different and is constantly changing if you're dieting/working out. It could be an accurate read, but double check that you set up your HRM with your info correctly. I agree with some of the folks…
  • Disney has a lot of great, healthy options. Look up their eateries and restaurants online before you go so that you know which ones you can safely venture to and which ones to avoid. I'm so jealous! Have fun! p.s. Don't forget to try the Sake tasting in Japan!! It's awesome.
