Hey all, I also had disappeared from end April due to illness, my partner being away so was just really maintaining the house and work and kids (teens, not babies ) so didn't really run. I am finding it hard to get back to 30 / 35 minutes running, but have made myself stick to running 20 minutes, and then walk /run the…

Hmm. Hope it was just my recovery but I couldn't get beyond 10 minutes in terms of sustained running and it made me lose my mojo a bit! I think I need to try and just do a gentle run to get back up to 30mins without stopping and not worry, look at m distance, my pace or time. Hmm. just when I thought I'd cracked it, the…

Hi all, Have been bedridden with flu / cold since Wed, but did a run on Tuesday night on the dreadmill (as Deb calls it!) -- really struggled to keep running but did the 5ks all the same, under 40 minutes. I am a bit like you Deb trying to maintain the 5ks and the running to maintain the original effort. Hopefully I will…

Hey all, Maybe I am becoming a runner - a slow, temperamental, ambivalent runner..... I find it hard to believe but my partner and our kids (late teens) are on holidays for easter and staying at an apartment with a gym and I can't wait to maintain my 5ks when I am there. I am enjoying it -- not that much whilst I am doing…

Hey y'all! Kim, that is amazing. Where do you live again? As our days here in Sydney start to get darker (no more daylight saving and a little cool -- but not like Melbourne where it is crisp and cold!) we really don't know our luck when it comes to weather. Deb, how are your muscles? All good? Airangel, bugger about the…

Deb -- Fantastic!!!!!!!! Sounds like you took off and left everyone - including the daughters -- for dust!! Great time. Muscle memory, and maybe racing memory. Wow. You are an inspiration. Kim, ran 35 on the tread today. Had a funny warm-up as I was mucking around with the ap and music and it meant that I wasn't sure what…

Hi, I have completed the program, but I want to say that reading your posts is so inspiring!! I was completely getting spooked about the next week, even after I completed each week. A lot of iit is fear, but just trust what you are actually achieving. Your work at it is fantastic, and your willpower to keep at it is great.…

Hi all, Mel, I remember those days where you had to fit everything in between littlies. Today I ran / walked outside. Covered 7ks, and I think I probably ran about 4.5 of that. Didn't quite get to run a full 30minutes in one hit -- but I certainly covered over 55 minutes altogether. So, I was disappointed that I didn't…

Hi all, Great to hear how everyone is going. Deb, you go girl! Looking to hear how it goes -- they say the atmosphere helps get everyone trying that bit harder. so you'll kill it. I did 30min run this evening - and then walked /ran to get the 5ks up (41.40 counting the warm-up walk). Still on the dreadmill (funny, Deb!)…

Hi all, My w 9 didn't go as it should have. I ran the first 20 minutes, walked, but didn't have the stamina for the second 20mins. I did however do some intervals in walking the second 20 minutes. So, it awaits me next run. A pity, but to be honest I think I should have repeated the 35 minutes a few times before I started…

Hi all, no running today - just weights (Tuesday and Thursday) and hope to run my week 9 tomorrow ( 5 w, 20 R, 3 W, 20R and 5 W) - i think this is the beginning of the 10k bit. I hope you all go well.... Deb, how is the planning for the big run going? Maree

Woo -hoo!! Did 35 minutes (and 5k in 41:12 in total counting the warm-up walking)! I have to say I was really wanting to quit at 30 minutes and I was helped by not wanting to post that I couldn't do the 35!! Anyway, got through and just one minute into the warmdown tripped over onto 5ks and that felt fantastic.... It is on…

Deb, that is fantastic going from 20 to 30 -- if you have followed my drama, I was totally spooked by the 20 to 25 and the 25 to 28 and the 28 to 30 -- ye gads, I was positively in panic about it. Tonight I do 35 minutes -- which, with the walking 5 before and 5 after may yet see me get to 5ks. But enough of me -- go for…

Hello all, Apologies for not tuning in, but I didn't do my 2nd run until Friday evening -- did weights during the week, rather than running. Well, did my 30 mins straight on the treadmill. Ya-hoo!! I kept going (even needing to hold onto the bar of the tread whilst I am running -- doesn't look pretty, shouldn't do it but…

Hey all, sorry to post so late! Week 8, day 1 on my app is 28 minutes!! and I did it!!! I was on the tread and at times I had to hold onto the bar, but I just did not want to stop. Felt so hard -- I let my mind play all sorts of tricks on me from the moment that I start. That is that the whole 28 minutes I am clock…

well done Deb. I repeated my week 7, day 3 this evening -- 25minutes. v v ragged breathing!!

Hey all, I did run yesterday -- did it, did, did it -- 25 minute run. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't fast, but it happened and that is all that matters!! I didn't get home till late, and so I figured I'd save till today's thread. All day I worked on the theory that I would look forward to it, I would tell myself and others -…

Wake in the morning, pee, take off any clothes I may have on and weigh myself. I only record if it is a loss. I tend to record 2 or 3 times a week. Every Friday I also weigh and measure waist and hips. I record that on a handwritten log I keep in a book which has my goals next to the weight achieved over a three month…

Mel, sorry, meant to comment in your week 6 too -- good going!
-
April, I think that 3.3 is good. I take over 40mins to do 4km ( and this is with 20min run). Deb, week 6 - well done!! I run tomorrow!
-
I snuck back into the gym and did Week 7, day 2 (no rest day, which is a bit naughty), I wanted to keep getting used to the distance. Week 7,day 3, jumps up to 25 min run, so I wanted to well and truly have mastered that. Deb, your run is coming up pretty soon. Thanks for all the other comments. Keep on running! M

Hi Kim Yep, I am getting a bit obsessive about working on the app, and also staying on the treadmill at least until 4km at the same time. I think at the end of week 7 I will try and ensure that I do 5k each time. That is, I will walk until the app ends, and then keep walking until I have done either the 4 k, but I will do…

Woo Hoo!!!!!!! finally ran 20minutes. My week 7, day 1 is the 20 minute run in my app (actually it is a 14week app for 10k). As per my previous posts I am working on shifting my thinking from -- oh my god I can't possibly do this, to, I can do this I just have to work out how. All feels good..... It helps me to to be…

well done april and Mel. What was the weather like that you were running in? or did you run indoors?

Woop Woop!!!!!! Did my week 6, day 3 this evening (Friday evening in Aus) which is the 15 R, 3 W, 5 R and then cool down etc. I did the self-talk that I was going to do this, no matter what. Normally my self-talk is the opposite (that it is going to be so hard and I don't know how I am going to do it etc etc.) but I just…

Just did the 15 minute run this evening in between running days. Total of 4kms, with a lot of walking. Feel great and looking forward to week 6, day 3 where it is 15min R, 3 min W, 5 min R and warm-down. I think I am getting a bit better with the mental strength, as I am not very strong on my mental focus. I tend to talk…

Ahh! Finally did the week 6, day 2 run which is 10 min R, 3 min W, 10 min R. It took me from Saturday to today to do it. (not that I have been running since saturday!!) But I did it!! My running app is a 10k run one (goes for 14 weeks) and doesn't have the 20 min run until week 7.... Not sure if that is a good thing or…

Oh I am such a newbie at this one! I have been using the C25k run app and am up to to week 6 where you run in 2 x 10 minute blocks, but it has eluded me. I just switched to running outside (rather than on a treadmill at the gym) but to no avail yet. I have to work harder at it, as I am not automatically good at it, and…

Fantastic.n You look so much fitter, and indeed, happier! You should be so proud of your results. Good work.

Hi all, no running today, but got a new pair of shoes and bought a couple of running audible books to maintain my focus as I am a bit down that the 10 minute plus runs are such a mountain for me to climb. I am also on a couch to 10k app, but i am really only on 4kms in what I am achieving in 35mins. I am not bothered by my…
