Gawd...yeah, I read it, & it was mind-numbing. Rough read.

Solid advice. Listen to this guy, people!!

With a quality high-impact sports bra you should be able to run. There are plenty of threads on this site about which brands are worth investing in, I hear Lululemon is popular.

leamatthews...AMAZING. Congrats to everyone who has shared their pics in this thread, fabulous work!!! Here's mine:

LOL! Cute. Congrats!!

Yeah, I don't think this is true for "most" people. Depends on your body type. As far as neck exercises, I wouldn't spend money on any of those products out there that claim to get rid of neck fat or tighten loose skin. You may as well do these exercises if you want to do something: http://youtu.be/lSA-1tZZTPM

Yeah, you can't really control where the weight comes off. All you can do is continue working on losing that excess fat & eventually it will come off where you want it. Tour is right, losing it slowly & steadily is the best way to go because it allows your skin time to shrink back without too much sag. You got me curious…

Great post & I couldn't agree more...unfortunately "healthy" is a relative term. There is too much conflicting information out there for the good information to be heard clearly. It's hard not to let it get to you & you should help out the newbies as much as is comfortable for you, but at some point you do have to let go &…

It's pretty simple: I like my life now. More specifically, I'm actually LIVING it, instead of sitting on the sidelines hoping no one notices me & reminds me of how fat I am, whether it's intentional or not. I don't always make healthy food choices but I am always aware of them & the nutritional value (or lack thereof).…

Sorry if this I a repeat because I haven't read the other comments, but a belly binder worked great for me! My dr suggested it & it worked wonders at keeping my midsection flab under control. Congrats to you on your dedication to your weight loss, you have a lot to be proud of! I was about 300 lbs when I started jogging.…

My first half is a week after yours! I'm kind of doing HH Intermediate, but I'm overlapping it with a couple of other training programs since I've got a lot going on, lol. Duathlon 9/23, 10-mile 10/7, HM 10/27.

I just started training for my first half this week, so I guess it's a short-term goal for me. I've been running for a couple of years now but I'm still fairly slow since I've got some weight left to lose yet. But I don't care, running is a challenge like no other. Congrats on setting a half as a fitness goal!!

Yeah, I've made the mistake of complimenting someone on weight loss & turned out she'd had cancer. I'm sure people have noticed & just not said anything, plus it's harder for people who see you all the time to notice since it has happened over time. It also depends on your body composition, if that 30 lbs was pretty evenly…

Yes, I'd agree that's a good reason to stay indoors!!! I haven't tried this, but I've seen many others on this site say that Leslie Sansone's Walk At Home DVDs are good. If you wanted to invest in any equipment, an elliptical or arc trainer would be wonderful because they are zero impact. I'd bet you could find a used one…

Fantastic!!!! The more you do it, the more you'll love it & will continue to find other ways to incorporate more activity. Well done!

You don't find it, you make it. The key is to assign exercise the same importance as everything else you make time for. No one can tell you what exactly will work for you because only you know what you do all day, but when you decide that you getting healthy & fit so you can be around longer for your kids is a priority,…

Ouch...but good on ya for letting it push you to take charge of your weight! I kind of went through the same thing a couple of years ago, family vacay to Puerto Rico & I dealt with a lot of rude treatment from fellow travelers. I did what I could to make the best of the trip, but I came home vowing to never have an…

As part of a married couple, it's definitely challenging to weigh spending time on yourself against spending time together. The way I see it, there are 3 components to my marriage: me, him, & us. All 3 are equally important, even though the balance of where focus is placed may shift from time to time. For the "me" part,…

^^^^^^ Yeah, this. What would make it so important to have makeup on while exercising that you'd go out of your way to buy products like these? No one at the gym cares, if nothing else people will probably judge you for working out in full makeup. I also tend to think that wearing makeup that stays even through sweat…

Ditto to Niner knowing his stuff. The founder of my running club is a marathoner & he knows his stuff as well, & from what he's told me shin splints are more common in heel-strikers. Try to focus on landing on the middle of your foot, it allows your ankle to assist your knee in absorbing the shock. When you land on your…

Personally I like having cute workout clothes that fit well. It boosts my mood more than wearing old stuff. But the bigger reason I buy "workout" clothes is the fabric. I could never workout out in sweat pants & a cotton t-shirt...I had to wear a cotton top one day because I was behind on laundry & after my hour workout I…

This is what I was thinking...as someone else mentioned, their stuff is great quality & lasts FOREVER. Personally I'm most of the way to my weight loss goal but still have further to go, so although I'd love to own some Lululemon gear, it's not going to fit me in a year if I have anything to say about it. So what's the…

5K Runner Free on iPod has worked well for me.

Can you? Sure you can. Should you? Depends on how selfish you are. If you are only concerned for your happiness & hers, then go for it. If you want the kid to grow up with an ounce of respect for you or his mother & give a crap about what your brother/parents/other family members think of you, you may want to rein it in a…

Am I the only one who wants to know why dog food WOULD be in the database??

I checked out SparkPeople once too, but it reeked of MySpace. I did use a site called FatSecret for the first yr & a half of my weight loss & really liked their food diary & smartphone app, but the database wasn't nearly as big as MFPs. Plus the forums there aren't laid out as well as these ones are so it's hard to keep…
