Air quality is BAD right now

This is like only day three on this site for me. I've lost weight through diet only and finally kicked myself in the behind and took a walk this morning. I tried to take another this afternoon and had to quit due to the horrible air quality. I live in a valley in Montana with mountain ranges all around. But the wild fires to the west of here have filled our valley with smoke to the point the mountain ranges are obscured from view. Once my house cools down over night (it was in the mid 90's today), I plan on closing all windows and hiding from the smoke the best I can. I'm always giving myself excuses not to exercise but I think this one is a pretty good excuse. Still, I don't want to do nothing in the way of exercise tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions on something I can do indoors? The only other requirement is that it be gentle on the knees. Any hints?

Yes, I'd agree that's a good reason to stay indoors!!! I haven't tried this, but I've seen many others on this site say that Leslie Sansone's Walk At Home DVDs are good. If you wanted to invest in any equipment, an elliptical or arc trainer would be wonderful because they are zero impact. I'd bet you could find a used one at a decent price online if you didn't want to buy new.

Well, duh on me! I own an erg! It's a professional quality rowing machine we got when my daughter was rowing for the crew team in high school. Out of sight, out of mind. And now out of the garage and into my closed up home for some rowing time. It's also easy on the knees. Once you mentioned an elliptcal, it came to mind. Thanks!
