  • Yes, this, omg this!!! When I started using my scale, the weight loss became almost effortless. Volume measurements just don't cut it, from what I have experienced it. Also, it's so easy to mess with volume measurements (say, jiggling that cup of oats so it settles and adding more), that I don't really use them except for…
  • I'm having the same issue. Just started strength training this weekend, so far have got in 4 days (split body) and I'm up 2.2 lbs? I weigh in the morning too, after peeing. Cardio didn't do this to me, so I am hoping against hope that it's water weight. Weigh in is on Friday for me, and I really, really, really don't want…
  • I expect it so it doesn't throw me for a loop. I gain 2lbs right before AF arrives. I also gain 2ish lbs right when I ovulate. I know this because I'm a daily weigher, and suddenly, mid-cycle, for a couple days, I will be up a couple pounds & then they disappear. :) If it's true water weight, after AF is done it drops off…
  • I made peace with the fact that I need to do things super easy. Automate the weight loss, if you will. Why? Because when things get tough I resort to the easiest option. If the easiest option happens to be bad or good depends on me. What I do is either portion things out ahead of time or buy things that are pre-portioned.…
  • I'm 5'2.5'' (and yes, I count that half inch!), 31, and currently weighing in at 158.8. My start weight in MFP was 213 last year, but in January of this year, I weighed in at 203 before restarting my weight loss. You can add me if you like. :) Food wise, I stay around 1100-1400 calories. Exercise is 30 min biking and…
  • Thanks! I think once I can do pull ups that will take care of the overhead press, but until then it's a good one to add so that I *can* finally do a pull up. I *will* do a pull up at least once in my life! :D I'm not totally new to weight training. I'm a bit frustrated with a lot of the 'established' programs out there…
  • I live in an area with lots of different immigrants, lots of who have no choice but to walk everywhere a lot. What I've seen, and it works, is using an umbrella. It's like having portable shade. Keeps the sun from hitting you, so you don't heat up as much as you would otherwise. :)
  • You could get an exercise bike pretty cheaply second hand, and get your cardio in that way. This way you are still working out at home, less/no noise and lots of calorie burn. :)
  • I remember reading somewhere that the body likes to stay at certain weights it has been at in the past for a while. It's as if it 'remembers' being at that weight, and since the body likes to stay in equilibrium, it tries to hold on to it. Losing weight means the body is not in equilibrium, and if you think about it, the…
  • I'm not on Atkins, more keto, which is similar. You are still early in the game. Wait a couple more weeks and you will feel better as your body switches over to using ketones as its primary energy source. Make sure to take a cup of broth and salt your foods with potassium salts (the no salt salts out there), since ketosis…
  • Thanks so much! I love Lo Mein, and, well, pretty much all types of noodle dishes. *sigh*. Hubby is even more of a carboholic, so he'll flip when he sees this! :) Ami
  • There is no such thing when I do a search. I even did a google search with that phrase, and other than this thread, nothing else came up.
  • First off, you've lost 47 lbs!!! Congrats!!!! I don't know what else you have going on in your life, but sometimes it helps to take a break from dieting and try to maintain for a while. If you calculate your maintenance calories, it's usually a bit more, and you won't gain the weight back. It's a nice little buffer to…
  • In what proportion are the ingredients? Also, how did you make the sauce? Thanks a bunch!
  • 5'3'' Apple shaped, plus pregnancies=bigger tummy than usual. I fit into my size 18 at around 202lbs. Right now I'm around 198 and still fitting comfortably.

  • Do it. Depending on your weight, you won't even need to gain much in pregnancy. It takes around 300 cal/day over maintenance for pregnancy~less in first trimester, more in third trimester, it's an average. I don't know what your weight loss pattern is post-partum, but for me, I seem to lose 20ish pounds within the first…
  • I found that for me, the first year postpartum, other than the initial loss of 20lbs after the baby, was a year of 'maintaining'. I just didn't have the energy to watch my diet and exercise. Also, I was exclusively breastfeeding for both, and I found that until both kiddos began to eat significant amounts of solids, I…
