I declined one today because she had almost 400 "friends". Huh ??? I prefer a managable number that are mutually supportive.

Reading this post and the replies has made me laugh out loud more than any others in the whole 10 months I've been on MFP. What a hoot!!

This artice is so helpful! I'm no body builder and am 56 years old, but in the last 10 months while losing 38 lbs., I'm sure I've gained muscle too. I'm so much stronger and toned and have worked hard to not be "skinny fat". I think eating nutritious food and a safe cut of calories from my TDEE is working slowly but…

These words will help many of us....thank you!

I finally just read this when I saw the link on your profile. It was great to read about your journey to change your life. Thanks for all of the inspiration you give me, Elle!

It works very well and I don't think 100 g. of protein is too much at all. It's helped me keep and build muscle. I recommend eating as many healthy carbs as you can in your allotment: fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Avoid processed, empty carbs. Also, healthy fats are good for you and make food taste better at times!…

Every day, because it's the "new me". The old me was scale phobic and acted like an ostrich with it's head in the sand. Almost like, if I couldn't see how bad it was, then no one else could see. Well, I enjoy facing the scale every day now. I realize there can be minor fluctuations so I don't let it bother me. I never want…

Much congrats from somene else who is currently 174 lbs. and size 12! Let's both keep going :) Your determination has sure paid off!

Several years ago I lost 50 lbs. following The South Beach Diet. Before starting with MFP, I had gained 20 lbs. back. The accountability with tracking calories on My FItness Pal has helped me lose those 20 lbs. plus 17 more so far. I still apply many of the South Beach Diet principals to the way I eat. I think that's part…

Here's my contribution to a 1500 calorie day using foods that I've eaten very recently: Breakfast: Arnold Healthfull Nutty Grain Bread toasted with 1 1/2 Tbsp. Smart Balance Peanut Butter and 1 Tbsp. Smucker's Low Sugar Strawberry Jam (248 calories) Snack #1: Protein Smoothie made with 2 scoops Aria Women's Vanilla Protein…

You absolutely took hold of your health and turned it around. I hope in this process you have realized what a strong woman you really are! Happy Rest of Your Life!!!

If you are wanting to increase veggies in your day, Bolthouse Farms 100% Carrot Juice is very good in a shake along with some raw kale or spinach and some sort of fruit mixed in with the protein powder and liquid of your choice. Also, crushed ice makes it extra wonderful :)

I love this! The accountability and consistancy makes lots of sense. A life long commitment to health is the best approach, so I'll just stick with it and enjoy the ride :)

You were so smart to get a hold on this when you are young. Now you don't have to go through life fat, tired and unhealthy! You are looking stunning and your husband must be thrilled, too!

Okay, I'll bump this also. Anyone else want to contribute?

This is re-affirming my idea of having a body fat % goal and clothing size goal. I really don't know for sure how much I will weigh when I get there. Thanks for the responses so far. The absolute most important part is health and how we feel. I feel great already with my 36 lb. loss, so I'll just be patient and "enjoy the…

Here's some advice from someone who wishes I had done it when I was your age before I had gained so much weight and become so unhealthy: "Mindful Eating". You've got the right start. Be aware of what you are eating, keep track of portions and keep educating yourself about the healthy way to eat. It's a lifestyle and…

It's beautiful that you have such loving and supportive parents. I'm sure you cherish them! You have truly transformed your life....no going back! Good for you!!

I just love it with Dole frozen cherries on top (thawed briefly in the microwave) and 1/2 tsp. of agave nectar or honey.

Just this week in my mind, I changed my "goal" to a body fat % goal instead of a weight goal. I really am not sure how much I should weigh at "goal" because I've never had this much muscle going on! So I'm looking for a particular healthy body fat percentage and a clothing size goal. I'm curious what I'll weigh when I…

Ultra Prevention and Ultra-Metabolism by Mark Hyman. These books revolutionized the way I eat and have had a tremendous positive influence on my health.

Yes, it makes sense, but it's even better if you calculate your BMR and make sure you net over that for sure. For most people, that is more that 1200 calories that a lot of people work from on MFP and which is too low. Too many people also, underestimate their daily activity level, which puts them at too low of a calorie…

You could change your activity setting to "lightly active". Changes are you are not really sedentary. This setting would give you more calories.

Any kind of raw fish or rare meat.
