I quit drinking alcohol 2 1/2 years ago. To lose weight was my first "motivation".... But soon after stopping I also realized that drinking everyday was not only very high in calories but also very alcohism-like. I abstain completely because: I've lost 45 lbs and kept it off for 2 years and I believe I was alcoholic

I see no reason to stop logging. Maintenance does not mean we are "finished". It means we are still restricting calories to whatever number it is .... Forever..... To maintain the weight you are. Why would it be a good time to Stop? I think it's the best time to continue. It is too easy to feel " I have arrived ".... ( new…

Great conversation. I read all your replies. I am dedicated and committed. I can be at peace with that

The sometimes I hate it..weary of it (of my original post).... referred to counting calories...not the logging of them

But, I don't mind logging. Logging keeps me grounded, safe, and guilt-free. I like seeing the numbers. Makes it easy. What I guess prompted me to post is the being accused of "obsessing" and wondering if anyone else felt that way or were told that. If it is obsessing, it will just have to be. It works for me.

I can enjoy an indulgent meal too. But the only way I can is by tracking in MFP. I use the weekly nutrition function...and when I see leftover calories that I have not consumed...I feel totally OK about the indulgence. Without tracking I wouldn't have that information. To each his/her own...but tracking works for me. I am…

Thanks everyone! I find it kind of odd that I hear/read that you don't need to diet...that you only need to change your lifestyle? Isn't it true ...that the lifestyle change they are speaking of (usually) is reducing the amount of calories you eat? Isn't it all "obsessive" in that you have to be aware and sensitive to WHAT…

I'm 57. I run. Religiously. 5 days a week.

I should add.... I'm really happy with what I eat. I'm used to it. I feel "safe" with that system. I don't binge on S days. I eat one sweet on Saturday, one on Sunday. I eat pizza...burgers...etc... but within reason. If I eat fast food ... I make sure the other meals are healthy. I don't "pig out". I eat until I'm full. I…

I'm surprised to read all the negative comments about this plan. I started in about 6 weeks ago. I adhere to it religiously ...and don't even find it particularly difficult. The hardest part for me is to not count calories AND plates...so I tend to obsess a little bit too much. I've lost 17 lbs... and though I try to make…
