Yesterday, I weeded and tilled the soil for planting. In the past that would have been enough for me. Still had some energy, so I went to nursery and bought bags of filler soil and manure. (Yes, my husband chided me for spending money on poop). The store employee loaded my car while I looked for plants. When I got home and…

Just goes to show, older, doesn't mean dead. Very impressive group!

I maintained for three years now by doing pretty much what I did to lose. Good eats, watch the calories and exercise.
-
Never heard of it. Let us know how it works out.
-
You right Kathi, feels so good!

I live in Gurley, Al. That is about 30 miles from Madison. What kind of workouts are you planning? We could get together for hikes occasionally. Be happy for mutual support.

Bravo!

I was you 5 years ago. Had a grandchild on the way and I was fat. I am also impatient, "can I be skinny yesterday?" I started by just walking and curbing some of the crap I ate. Long story short, I am 80 pounds lighter and have actually run a 5K. It isn't always easy, but it can be done. You can do this.

Robert, that is awesome!

For the longest, I thought I had gotten to old to manage heels. Then I lost 80 pounds and I could wear them again, turns out I was just fat. Who knew?
-
I never thought of myself as an athlete, but my resting heart rate is @52. If that counts, super NSV for me.

I am with you. I got fat by eating-when I was tired, bored, anxious, happy, sad- you get the picture. The worst is when I am stressed. My mom died about 6 months ago and I have to handle estate, my sister has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and her children are not taking care of her as they should. At the point of my…

Good for you, beautiful weather here, hope it is the same for you.

Kudos! Nothing like a health NSV!

Lol, first time I got on an elliptical, I lasted 2 minutes and got off and pretended I had to go to the bathroom. I conquered it by just doing a little more each day. Since I wasn't at home I couldn't do it more than once a day. I would also suggest going backwards, (if it does that) almost as much as going forward. My…

I absolutely agree. My mom was in a scooter for 15 years before she died. I know she had physical problems, but I feel like she just succumbed to them. Most people 60 or better (and some younger) have arthritis and "snap, crackle, pop" with movement. I know I do, but I don't want to give in and make age an excuse. BTW you…

Not liking exercise is my problem. Since I love to eat, that is not a good mix with age and a non-functioning thyroid. But those are all excuses, if you want to lose the weight, you will. I just meant it was more of a challenge for me. I spent decades over eating and never moving and got fat. What a shock! I know exercise…

With age, your metabolism slows, just biology. Doesn't mean it can't be done, just believe it is harder for me.
-
Happy Find! Good for you!
-
Well that sounds scary! Glad you are safe.
-
Oh, dear that is awful. Just hunker down and take the day off.
-
Small NSV, no longer feel the need to get "my money's worth" at buffets. I eat what I want and stop when I am full. My health is more important than the money.

Loads of pasta, followed by cookies and chocolate.
-
You look fantastic!

I have 4 children age 28 to 37 and only one grandchild and none on the horizon. I will just have to spoil her rotten and give her back to her parents, lol.
-
Such fun! Had to watch 3 year old grand daughter while parents spent a night away to celebrate their anniversary. She stayed up way later than I would have liked, then woke me at 4 am to read her a book. I need a nap.

Get back to gym and stop eating at night after dinner.

Don't be obsessed with the scale number. If your clothes are looser and you feel more fit, keep doing what you are doing. The scale moves eventually.

I kept stuff until they were ridiculously big then gave them away and bought new. The new stuff was slightly snug because had had more to go. Now I am done and most of it fits quite nicely.

I sure hope he is right!
