  • Get a neti pot with saline wash I was told by a doctor once that my sore throat was being caused by post nasal drip which can be helped with the neti pot. Now when ever I start to get that tickle in my throat I use my neti pot a couple of times a day for a few days and it never gets worse. I was a hard sell on them because…
  • "Transformation is not a future event. It is a present activity." - can't remember where she said it though.
  • I love organizing books and websites. I usually find Some books I really liked were: When Organizing isn't Enough, SHED your stuff, change your life by Julie Morganstern Organizing from the inside out by Julie Morganstern (I started with this one, but felt SHED was great for having too much stuff, this one is good though…
  • Oatmeal is probably my favorite at home breakfast. Crunchy peanut or almond butter with some cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice is my favorite, usually with raisins. Sometimes I'll add apples or apple sauce instead of the raisins. I also really like blue berries, or strawberries and banana . I use frozen berries in because I…

  • I find it motivating for working out. What happens on the scale I consider a part of the game. But I do like to see how they work out because I figure if they can do it then I really have zero excuses not to do something too. As for 10lb weight loss... They start out morbidly obese so it's possible to drop huge numbers…
  • http://www.askamanager.org/ The best website for job search advice. She has a free guide on preparing for an interview too with the best questions to ask and generally what else you should be prepared for. My favorite tip is to remember that you are interviewing them also. You think you want the job, this is a way to find…
  • I'm interested, I love Jillian's workouts, but I can't afford to buy the set right now. If you're looking for more info I did see this blog post http://loveeatrun.com/2012/02/17/jillian-michaels-body-revolution/ that talks about it and there's more info in the comments. I can't wait to see how people like it. I'm wondering…
  • I use hemp powder it's soy-free and vegan (I'm allergic to dairy, so no whey powder for me). The trader joe's brand has some sugar in it, but other wise I like it alot. I use it in my oatmeal and to make shakes with. There is a tiny bit of grittyness to the stuff I add it to (as it it doesn't disolve), but I've been using…
  • You're making an assumption that brainless chickens, or lab meat would get to 3rd world starving countries. First world countries already over produce food and yet other people are still starving. Producing more or more efficiently will not feed those people.
  • How about 3 that I found in a very simple database search through my local library? http://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/2/7/770/ (Open source document) Nutritional Status of Flemish Vegetarians Compared with Non-Vegetarians: A Matched Samples Study Peter Deriemaeker, Katrien Alewaeters, Marcel Hebbelinck,1Johan Lefevre,2 Renaat…
  • When you say that you do well for weeks and then binge on junk food, do you mean that you go with out junk food for a week or more at a time and then binge? You may want to incorporate every few days or every other (heck, every day if that will keep you from binging!) a small serving of your favorites. If you deprive…
  • I'm definitely a target gal. They put champion sports bras on clearance all the time so I don't think I've ever paid full price for them.
  • I love to add cooked quinoa to my chili recipes. It stretches the number of meals I can get out of one batch. I've even added it to canned veggie soup (when it was all I had) so I could get 2 servings out of one can (too much sodium otherwise). I do a quick cold salad with it too using cucumber, cherry tomatoes, olives,…
  • I started with the Banish Fat Boost Metabolism -- has some kick boxing moves, some calisthenics, some body weight & abs - a good over all workout -- and No More Trouble Zones witch is almost all body weight. But they are 45 minutes long each. I like 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30 because they are shorter (25 min about) and…
  • I'm a big fan of Zumba, and I'm thinking of getting a gym membership again just so I can go to it. I was trying the at home workouts for awhile now. I've done p90x and Insanity and didn't like either. They really didn't help me lose weight even though my fitness level went up, and I could tell that my body composition was…
  • The book "Brain Over Binge" helped me greatly. The only thing is that nothing will work until you are 100% ready to change. http://www.amazon.com/Brain-over-Binge-Conventional-Recovered/dp/0984481702/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328129690&sr=8-1
  • You need to know why you want to be a vegetarian. I went vegetarian because of animals in 2004 and haven't looked back because to me a burger or piece of chicken isn't worth eating when I see it as the product of suffering animals. I'm transitioning to vegan for the same reason (gave up all dairy last year, eggs are next)…
  • Unless you go get your metabolic rate tested (by a dr or a specialist) you are using an estimate that MFP is giving you. You may burn more or less depending on a number of factors. Then there is the fact that even nutrition labels can be incorrect. So even if you are measuring your food accurately, the label telling you…
  • I go back and forth on the HFCS debate. But I did a search for peer reviewed articles and found this one about mercury contamination in HFCS. That's enough to make me stay away from it. Not so sweet: missing mercury and high fructose corn syrup: Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy. Wallinga, D.; Sorensen, J.; Mottl,…
  • Natalie! I agree. It bugged me so much. She does not get low in her squats -they are actually higher than the one doing the "modified" easy version! My favorite is during workout 2 (I think) when Jillian says "If Natalie can do them, you can do them." I don't think that she meant it to sound that way, but I chuckle every…
  • I edited my post, but I'll put t here again - www.chocolatecoveredkatie.com has tons of "single lady" which can be made in the microwave and are on the healthier side for desserts.
  • There is no way that is 101 Calories unless you are talking Teaspoons (tsp) instead of Tablespoons (TBSP) 2 vegetable oil (tbs) = 250 calories 3 granulated sugar (tbs) = 135 calories 2 unsweetened cocoa powder (tbs) = 20 calories 2 all purpose flour (tbs) = 55 calories Total= 460 *edited* I like chocolatecoveredkatie.com…
  • The book Brain Over Binge by Kathryn Hansen really helped me. It's a "tough love" kind of a book though so be prepared, she makes alot of sense, though it's hard to hear. Still it did help me end my binge eating. I would highly recommend it and it's only $10 if you have a kindle or kindle app.…
  • 3 and 5 pounds would work. At first there were a few moves I couldn't do the whole set of with 3 pounds so I would just do what I could and eventually by the end of the level I was using 3 pounds. Things that were okay with 3 pounds I would move up to 5 about half way through the week. It should be hard to do, but not…
  • Here's a website: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes_menus/recipe_slideshows/vegetarian_casserole_recipes I don't know about low fat, but I am sure there are ways to substitute or reduce things. I love the recipe function on here for that reason. Do you have a crock pot (slow cooker)? There are endless chilli recipes that…
  • Ooops! I hadn't thought of that. Any 0 calorie sweetener will work - though 1 tsp of sugar is only 15 calories. I use Truvia (don't know if it's sold in the UK) because I personally don't want to use chemical sweeteners. But, if it's not an issue, for you use what ever you like.
  • Dark cocoa powder and one stevia packet stirred into greek style yogurt tastes just like chocolate mousse. 5.3 oz cup of yog = 80 calories, cocoa powder is 10cals per TBsp.
