I went to Sports Authority & got one that only tracked the heart rate & returned it. ****'s Sproting Goods had an inexpensive one with a chest strap that tracks calories burned. I think I paid $30). I too am on the monetarily challenged wagon so I had to get what I can afford. To be honest, it works great. Some people said…

I'm 5' tall & I started at 205. I'm down to 187 since starting Sept 21st. Feel free to add me. I can use all the support I can get :)

maybe some almonds?!?! It's okay to go over on your protein, especially if you're working out. Your muscles use protein to repair after a workout.

Veggies I love eggplant. I cut it open & roast then add to pasta sauce or top with cheese. I also like to slice it in half, then slice 1/2 way through one half (think like a pita pocket) & take some wilted spinach & ricotta and stuff it in the eggplant pocket. Then I roast the whole thing. Great vegetarian meal. You can…

I found lots of drinks on this site. Some of them have the nutritional value when you click on them too. http://www.nursingschools.net/blog/2011/05/50-healthy-low-cal-cocktail-recipes-for-the-aspiring-skinny-girl/

Walking is great. Also, there are things you can do with your kids for exercise. You can include them and they think you're playing together (it starts a young as mommy & me yoga). You can get a jump rope at the dollar store & play together. Also, Even using things around the house for weight training like water bottles or…

I tried this last night. You can make it healthier by using reduced sodium chicken stock & leaving out the flour as I did. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/chicken-breasts-with-balsamic-vinegar-and-garlic/detail.aspx The nutritional info is on the page. I made it with some whole wheat pasta, but you can eat it with any side.

I have the 1st Zumba & the 2nd one. The 2nd is FAR better. It's easier to follow the graphics now (you can go to the Zumba website & see video from the game) and it also tracks your calories (the 1st one did not). I use a HRM when I play & it seems to be pretty accurate, usually within 50 cals of each other. In a medium…

I have the same issue with fats. I sometimes go over on my fats because I eat avocado. I had the same issue with the sugars too because I eat lots of fruit. I stopped worrying about the sugar if it comes from a natural source. Now, if I'm over because I ate cereal or something with sugar, I know I need to limit that more…

I'm 30 and 5' tall. I started at 205 & I'm trying to get down to 140 before I even attempt a pregnancy. Being overweight is hard on my petite frame, so I can't imagine carrying a child as well. My gyno suggested losing as much weight as possible & get as healthy as I can so I can have a healthy pregnancy. I realize that I…

I tried this very thing when I was quitting smoking. Needless to say I was buying cigarettes at 2 AM because I couldn't sleep & needed a smoke! I knew I needed to kick that nasty habit. Eventually I did it cold turkey, but driving to the store didn't hold me back, lol. On topic... I like to keep grapes in the house. You…

I turned 30 in October & a few weeks before my birthday I started my journey. I have about 40 lbs to lose and I'm giving myself 40 weeks to do it (kind of like a pregnancy I suppose, lol). Then I start the new journey in my life - MAINTENANCE!!! I'm always looking for new friends. Feel free to add me :)

I have Wii Sports (comes with console) and got Wii Fit Plus & Zumba 2. There are many games you can use with the balance board, but Fit is nice because not everything uses the board (many yoga moves you don't need it). I also learned how to do many moves PROPERLY on it because it shows you where to balance your weight…

You're more than welcome to add me. I'm 30 too. I have a little more than you to lose, but there's nothing wrong with rooting each other on :) I'm a native NYer living in FL now. Good luck!

I just did a moderate class for 40 min & burned 652 cals having FUN!! So much more entertaining than the elliptical :)

You can log it as dance or under the cardio tab search for Zumba then on the bottom it says "Can't find what you're looking for? Add an exercise to the database" & you can click the link to type what you want & add the calories.

I used www.zumbacalories.com to track. Now I have a HRM.

I have a desk job, so I changed my settings to the lowest amount of activity possible. Then I add whatever activity I do. Even at 1 lbs a week I have an allowance of 1300 cals a day & I get more as I add activity. That works best for me. Even if I don't get all my activity in, I get just enough cals. I'm 5 feet tall &…

OMG, I had one of the songs stuck in my head too. I was doing the movements in my head. The song name is making me draw a blank right now, but yes, they get jammed in your brain!

I love it! I use that & go to the gym when I can. I've lost all my weight doing both & eating healthier. As a matter of fact, I'm getting off here now so I can Zumba away :)

I've made these before & you can freeze them. Then you can eat them as is or grab an english muffin or something to make a sandwich. The variety is endless and they can be as healthy as you want because YOU put the ingredients in. http://www.kalynskitchen.com/2006/10/egg-muffins-revisited-again.html

The 2nd one is much easier to follow. The games are not in order or different from each other in technique. There is actually a dancer to follow & the screen shots are much easier to look at. I think you should google images of the games so you can see what I'm talking about.

I have both the original Zumba & the Zumba 2 game for the Wii (yes, I believe they do have it for the Kinect). The belt is 50" I think, you can also hold the remote or stick it in your pocket, waist band. On to the game. I love the 2nd one compared to the 1st one. I don't get bored with it. I work harder every time so I…

I usually do little things like mani/pedi or something small under $30. I buy clothes on clearance & sometimes I buy a size smaller and use it as a goal to fit into it. That motivates me to keep going. I have a friend who is losing weight too & she is bigger than me. As she loses weight she raids my closet & gets…

I didn't get a dog, but I did get 2 ferrets out of the blue when my neighbor was trying to find homes for them. I surprised my hubby when he got home and he said we can keep them. We are animal lovers and my hubby has just as much of a mushy heart as I do for anything that's furry & has a wet nose!

I usually find great recipes for eggplant when I search for vegetarian recipes. Then I add meat if I want. I like to cut it into cubes and roast with some onions, tomatos, and sometimes peppers (any vegetable can be roasted & goes well really). I add it to pasta so I get more veggies than pasta. I also like to slice it…

Sounds yummy & I'm in a baking mood! Thanks for sharing

I think it also depends on what your goals are set to on MFP. I had mine set to lose a pound a week so if i ate my cals back I really would lose a pound a week. My problem is that I find it hard to eat more than 1200 cals, so if I ate 1289 cals & burned 300 cals, my body wasn't getting enough cals. I recently changed my…

I'm new here, been around MFP for about 2 months now. I don't know how to add pics, but you're more than welcome to add me. I have my "work in progress" pics up. I put a new pic up after every 10 lbs lost.

Been listening to Eminem too (I really do "lose myself in the moment" while working out). Lately I can't get enough of Drake's "Make Me Proud" thrown in the mix. I feel like he's talking to me while I'm on the elliptical :)
