  • Good luck to you Lisa! I'd love to get my hubbie on board with this too... we'll see. Your comment that "no more excuses... the time is now" resonated with me so much --that's how I've felt. I joined in January, and really love this MFP--just the accountability of putting in my food is a huge wake up call. Thanks for…
  • Hi, I'm 43 and the mother of 3 kids who are 11, 12 and 13, and as you can see... one lovely chocolate lab (who is also apparently about 10 lbs overweight!!). I'm feeling like for the first time in a long long time, I'm finally doing something for me. My kids are past the baby stage, I've just finished my Masters degree,…
  • Hi... don't feel at all bad about yourself--feel bad for her--she feels the need to compare herself and others and to talk about it... that's not a great quality in a person, and shows her own insecurities Weight has so much more to do with bone density, muscle mass, etc. You are the weight that I'm hoping to get to :). I…
  • Hi there, My thoughts are to start monitoring your sodium levels... that seemed to help me a lot, and once I got that under 1000-1300 mgs / day, it really took the water retention down, which took some lbs off too. Now I notice immediately if I've had way too much sodium. Health Canada recommends a daily dosage of…
  • Hi, I had an initial weight gain too, but one thing I've found helpful, is that I've really cut my sodium down down down, so that it's under 1000 mg / day. That seemed to make a big difference. Good luck. Hang in there.
  • Hi, There's been lots of good advice here. I recently found that I was kind of stuck too. But also watch your sodium intake. That made a big difference to me. I'm working on keeping my sodium down (recommended daily amount is 1300, not 2400 like MFP says). Food guide (in Cda) says to not exceed 2300 mg/day. Anyways, as…
  • Hi, I've been starting to think a lot about this too. Health Canada says that adults should have about 1500mgs/day, and no more than 2300 (though MFP sets the rate at 2400 for me... ). I've been working on this. On the days I've been under 1000, I've had lots of crunchy greens and veggies. Fruit is very low in sodium.…
  • Congrats! You are where I hope to be one of these days :)
  • Hi all, Yes, I'm about 5'8 -5'9 (haven't measured since high school) and though I had a SW of 225, I'm going for 155. Looking forward to really and truly making this the thing that WORKS for me. After a week or so with MFP,. I'm still feeling pretty empowered and excited about this site--really helpful and great for…
  • Hi back! Yes... I too am ready for this. Mind i I send a friend request? Perhaps we can be a support system for each other. I too have struggled with this for so long, and have done some of the yo yo thing as well. Ready for a permanent change!
  • Hi Megeank, I am also new to myfitnesspal, and have some of the same goals as you.. .lose weight, make better choices and shed about 60 lbs! It also feels so intimidating. So if you want to encourage each other, feel free to friend me. Yes--10 lb increments sounds like a great start! Marilu3
