Go with a polar HRM i use ft4 as do most on here and find it really good a slightly more expensive model ft7 is also widely used on here

Im up to 10k at the moment but from 1k - 2.5k my mind is telling me to "stop" and "i cant do this" and once ive past 2.5 its as if ive gotten over that wall and i start to relax in my run This morning my plan was to do 5k on the treadmill .......at 2k i stopped to walk 1k and just did not feel like carrying on I eventually…

Do it !!! you will look back in 6 months and think what the hell were you getting so hyped up about You should get an induction and a training programme when you sign up, tell the instructor that you haven't got a clue about using the equipment and he/she will take you through it all explaining what each bit of equipment…

Commonly referred to as shin splints, its your shin muscles telling you that your not suppose to do this as they haven't done this in a long time also a possibility you over or under pronate and need to go to a specialist running store where they will video and Analise your run an a treadmill and fit you with support shoes…

C25K (couch to 5k) i was hovering around 300lb started walking first then in January this year started c25k i am now up to 10 k non stop running

I used the treadmill in the gym or a local cycle track near me as i wasnt comfortable running on the road (too many idiot drivers around) as for looking odd NA listen to your music and ignore them your doing it for you good luck:drinker:

I don't mean to sound harsh or to belittle you.............if you keep thinking this, your going to stay a bit big in the middle I used to think spin class was for fit people .....ITS FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BECOME FIT GO FOR IT :drinker:

Was spin class too intense for me at 300lb? Yes if i tried to do what the instructor was doing I'm now doing what the instructor does, maybe not at such an intense pace as hes about 25 and im 50 this year im also still obese and the instructor is lean and supper fit Go at your own pace if you cant keep up .........pause…

I wouldn't limit her its not as if shes going hell for leather at an intense pace When i was around that age, many years ago we would go and play rugby in the park for 3-4 hours at a time, and only stopping when you were called in for food And my son when he was 11 doing athletics, that would be 45min - 1 hour sessions…

Yes, im doing the Swansea Bay 10k but need to shed a lot more weight before i attempt a 1/2, my mate did Cardiff last year and hes advised against it this October but Llanelli have a 10mile in February, i think, so may attempt that

The OP's profile says shes training for a 1/2 and she's from Swansea just down the road from me, someone tried to rope me in to do the Cardiff 1/2 in October but I think thats a bit to soon for me :bigsmile:

Mine are in stones, kilos and lbs but when ever anyone asks how much weight ive lost i always say 41/2 stone not 62lbs brought up in old money :bigsmile: I will post in the techie section to see if it could be done

Go with the FT4 i think mine is brilliant and it also links up to gym equipment that i use If you have a smart phone and run outside then runkeeper (free app) will track for you :bigsmile:
