I use a polar Bluetooth heart rate monitor which links to my iPhone apparently more accurate than your average treadmill readout and it always gives me a lower reading than any of the gym equipment displays
-
I used a compression top underneath my running top. It's xxl but looks like a small a bit of a bind to get on and off is a very snug fit, but keeps my moobs in place as after my first 5k my nipples were bleeding but the top cured the problem

Waw, absolutely amazing results, big congratulations to you. I think reading your thread has finally given me the kick up the *kitten* that I needed To move myself, after loosing most of my vision back in December I've become a sloth so time to do something about it (diloch)

padded shorts will be your friend, I bought a cheap pair at first then some cycle friends told me to buy the more expensive ones the difference in padding was amazing :D
-
as some have said wet the strap, I actually hold the contact area under water and if you wear the tight tops that move sweat away from the body (cant remember the techie name for them) but it stopped mine working
-
I use a polar HR7 Bluetooth chest strap that links to my iPhone and find it very good. It links to all of my apps ( strava, map my run/ ride, polar beat)

Love spin class, although sometimes i hate the instructor LOL, as someone said mix it up with seated & standing hill climbs and tabata style sprints (20 sec sprint 10 sec recovery)

Go with c25k (or couch to 5 km) a programme for total novice runners Link>http://www.nhs.uk/LiveWell/c25k/Pages/couch-to-5k.aspx Worked wonders for me, although i did get fitted for running shoes as i pronate when running and this cured my shin pain after the 5 min warm up walk i always stretch before running Happy running…
-
You say you have new running shoes, did you just buy them off the shelf or were you fitted by a specialised running store I had the same problem (sometimes referred to as shin splints) then had my gait analysed and found i pronate when running, with my new shoes it disappeared
-

It sounds like its based on the mayo clinic diet which i did some years ago and did loose a stone (14lbs) in 10 days if you can do it give it a try but you will have to watch what you eat when you come off it The best way is healthy eating, a calorie deficit and regular exercise
-
Possible if you use a higher resistance, as outside your pushing your weight along also but by using more resistance you can simulate riding outside
-
Just hoping all you east coasters across the pond stay safe and sound take care all

I find drinking a pint of water before my evening meal helps curb the munchies

You will probably have to join a gym to lift heavy and use a squat rack I started stronglifts 5x5 and use the app on my phone to keep track of my lifting
-
As everyone has said light exercises on the cardio and strength training, squatting will really help with your legs
-
You mention "don't judge" I judge that you have done a fantastic job WELL DONE !!!

Shin splints or muscular shin pain totally suck and stopped me from running until i had my gait analysis done at a specialised running store where i came away with a pair of Brooks trainers which had support built in. the video showed how my feet turned in when running (pronate) Totally solved my problem, and have done…
