That's natural and to be expected. You need more energy to support those activities. Also your "calorie limit" goes up when you exercise so you can eat more and still be at a deficit.

Skydiving (obviously) and when I'm not doing that I spend my time at the lake on the boat, wakeboarding, just hanging out enjoying the sun. Flying, country dancing, softball, billiards, concerts of all kinds. I like to live an adventurous life!

How da hell are people allowed to stand in front of an audience with no apparent knowledge of the subject at hand? I'd be fired from my job in a hurry if I did that.

There are tons and tons of studies and real life examples that show adequate protein intake is essential to preserve muscle mass. Just using them is poor advice. "Skinny fat" is a very real body type. Ask any of the millions of people who incorrectly diet and realize this first hand...including me. Especially ask those…

:indifferent: this thread really headed south since the last time I checked it.

Like I said above, too large of a deficit will result in muscle loss no matter how much you work out or eat protein. 1200 is already too low in my opinion, and you said you don't eat back exercise calories which makes your deficit well below what is considered safe and healthy. Like I and others suggested, figure out a…

If only weight loss was a linear thing. Unfortunately it's far from it. Are you positive you had low sodium levels yesterday? How about stress? Is that time of the month coming up soon? I would check another scale if it is showing a big gain with the both of you. Just remember, whatever it is, you did NOT put on 7lbs of…

Your best bet for figuring body fat % (without doing a hydro test) is getting a pair of skinfold calipers and taking measurements. There are hundreds of calculators online that will give you an estimate. There are also calculators for tape measurements as well. Read on here about BMR and TDEE, eat more than BMR and the…

In general, it tends to overestimate calorie burn. By how much? I imagine that's a complicated answer that really depends on the person and the workout. http://www.sparkpeople.com/community/ask_the_experts.asp?q=75

No you have the concept down. 1800 to 2400 is a big difference yes, but look at how much you burn on the treadmill when you do go to the gym...600cal which is the difference between 1800 and 2400 right? Meaning the exercise makes your deficit quite a big bigger. It's not very easy creating a calorie deficit with no…

Also keep in mind that heart rate monitors, while generally excellent at predicting calorie burn for steady state activities like jogging or biking, are known to be inaccurate during weight lifting where there are spikes of heart rate.

My Fitness Pal is designed to incorporate a deficit for whatever activity level you selected. So for example if you chose lightly active and do nothing extra all day long, the suggested calorie target will give you a loss. If you add in workouts to MFP it tells you that your calorie limit for the day has gone up because…

Keep in mind that too large of a calorie deficit will cause muscle loss no matter how much strength training you do or protein you eat. To truly maintain muscle mass and lose weight, you need a fairly modest calorie deficit. I don't know much about you (age, size, height, activity level) but 1200 calories is usually…

Enough to make it really interesting, not so many that I forget everything!

After your refeed day is over, it's over. No need to adjust Friday based on Thursday. Just go about your usual Friday.

First three years a geek. Senior year I was in the jock crowd during football, then got kicked back to the geek group afterwards. Most guys in my class all got along and spent time together though.

Luckily yes. That gun that they let an ordinary guy like me buy eventually protected me when a stranger decided he wanted to check out my house at 3am. He decided his life was worth more than my tv. What would you have done? Asked him nicely to leave?

Does no one say "asl" anymore? My how times have changed.

Huh...and they told me my application would be kept private. How did I just now see this thread? I just started a "newly single" thread two weeks ago!
