  • I'm in! July 3rd 140 llbs August 1st 132lbs Good Luck, everyone!
  • My advice is to measure your food and WEIGH IT. I am a personal trainer and use this as a quick easy log for my food. Food labels can be up to 300% wrong and still be approved by the FDA. WEIGH YOUR FOOD! Good luck! :) P.S. 1 lb of muscle and 1lb of fat weight the same...the muscle simply takes up 1/3 of the space the fat…
  • A lot of it is mental...however much of it is physical. When our bodies are tired...they tell you to eat for energy...when our bodies are cold...they tell you to eat...because the digestion process provides warmth (due to energy output)...there are also 3-hunger mechanisms in the brain...carbohydrate driven, fat driven,…
  • any time you are in an upright position...your metabolism doubles...anytime you are moving...your increasing your caloric burn...keep on jumpin' girly!
  • Good to hear! Way to motivate! It always comes down to priorities!
  • Try taking a trash can and throwing away all temptation. Then ease yourself into giving up your habits. Change one meal a week...start with breakfast...make it wholesome. Example: 1/2 english muffin, 1 tsp peant butter, 1/2 cup strawberries, 1-80cal yogurt, 8oz low calorie juice....give yourself a snack that inludes…
  • To avoid disappointment...as a professional, I forebid my clients to weigh daily...and also, make them drink half their body weight in ounces of water. Example: Person A weighs 180lbs...if they are not active I expect 90ounces of water to be consumed during the day. Hope that helps with the water issue.
  • Cardio...since it is usually a repeated motion is meditative. This is why so many people feel relief after completing it. Meditation is great for stress! However, the body does need a week (here and there) to recover from all exercise. This means taking a full week off of doing ANYTHING. This allows your metabolic clock to…
  • I prioritized....which was hard because my first business opens this week. However, I kept making room for short workouts during the day...and just really watched protein intake (which is frustrating being vegetarian in the mid-west!)...and lost 4lbs this week. We went into engagement pictures and I had to buy smaller…

  • Never trust your food labels. As a trainer I make my clients weigh their food. The FDA allows food labels to be up to 300% off...so be careful people! Weigh your food...measure it out...because often times there are more than 3.5 servings in a package if that is what it says. Or...one slice of bread weighs more than it…
  • Look at the positive side. It is GREAT that you woke up hungry...it means your fat metabolism is up...which means your body is leaning down. I always tell my clients that I want their stomach to wake them 5 minutes before the alarm clock! Just a lighter way of looking at being hungry...maybe next time...stop at the…
  • I would talk to a registered dietitian. Doctors tend to be fabulous with drugs and diseases...but horrible with health promotion.
  • I would just try to get him to eat 200 - 250 every 2.5 hours. Make sure it is not high in sugar or sodium...but just try to get him on a regular eating schedule so his blood glucose can stay at a constant level. Good Luck!
  • I appreciate everyone's support. I'll take all the the advice to heart.
  • I am a former fitness competitor and work in the fitness Industry. I have competed in figure shows, collegiate athletics, and have helped hundreds of clients lose weight. Unfortunately, I was injured in a car accident in June and put on 15 lbs. My wonderful fiance had proposed a month before and was very supportive.…
  • He lost a lot of water...but for people who have not moved in forever (meaning their metabolisms are extremely slowed) doing physical activity and dieting...will have a greater effect on them. People who are used to doing exercise...have more conditioned bodies...will perform those exercises more economically.
  • Not good to deprive yourself...so you don't go off the wagon later. I would say put it in the middle of the day, though, if you know you will have the calories. The simple sugars are not processed as well at night.
  • You need to go to a specialty store and have them fit you with a shoe that is appropriate for your arch. You also need to run in the grass or on a track for a while. Do ice massage after your run for 20 minutes...and work, work, work...on that calf flexibility. You might want to make sure you are getting enough iron and…
  • Cardio exercise DOES NOT boost for the rest of the day...you get a minimal elevated after burn for an hour or two. Weight lifting exercise will give you an elevated after burn for about 12-18 hours. The two are different. I am a Certified Personal Trainer.
  • I would start with an extra multi-vitamin and then consume some electrolytes on a regular basis. Water down some gaterade...1/4 gaterade...3/4 water and see if this helps. Most of it is probably the lower amount of estrogen effecting how your body feels...you don't necessarily need more calories, but you may need to hit…
  • Try to include some 10 minute segments throughout your day where you slip in activity. Especially, consider one of these activity bursts before you succumb to the kitchen...if you do still cave after your 'bout of movement...the indulgement will be less detrimental. I am a trainer and live in my car or office...I fight…
