^^^^^This exactly! I have my trainer scared to death of the "inner *****". Not needed her yet, but she is certainly available when needed LOL.

People should be better, but they're not. True in life, true anywhere. They can only get to you if you allow them to do so.
-
This would be a hell of a lot funnier if I didn't know a 92 year old that goes to the gym everyday and lifts. True story.

I agree with this 100% I myself am 57. That's why I said originally see your doctor, see what he says. I started going to the gym last June and at the time was quite uncomfortable if my HR was in the high 140's. Now I easily work in the 150's and can go into the 160's for intervals without too much discomfort. Could not do…

I say see your doctor and ask him/her if it's too much. And I agree you hire a trainer to push you harder than you would push yourself. Mine sure does and I love him for it!

I agree with the people talking about quality of food vs. quantity. Vegetables are your friend. The green leafy kind, not the starchy kind. Fruit is good. Berries are awesome. Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries etc. Your fat intake seems pretty high to me. If you are making those sloppy joes, trade the 90% fat free…

^^^^^Yes, this is nachos. Not that crap in the cinema. Do a google image search for nachos and you will see the real thing.
-
Yes, all of this! I think I love you! :flowerforyou:

I agree with you that his outburst was not acceptable. You will not here an argument from me that is ever acceptable. He should have COMMUNICATED with her that he would appreciate it if some nights she would fix the foods he enjoyed. I had not responded to any of your posts. And do not stand in judgment of you or how "your…

I truly "get" what you are saying. I just have a different perspective on where I see the problem here. Where you appear to think he should just "eat it and shut up and be grateful" I am of the opinion out of love for him she should make sure she fixes him the things he enjoys to eat, at least some of the time. I love my…

Yes and it would be basic good manners for her to love her husband enough to fix him the foods he enjoys too. I don't think the hubs would have been so upset if she were fixing him the things he enjoys let's say 3 nights out of 7. I bet that would be a compromise he could live with. They obviously have different caloric…

^^^^^^This X 100! Great post!

Mutual respect. It seems to be gravely missing here. You should not force your husband to eat what you want to eat no more than you want him to force his nachos on you. You aren't working, would it really be that difficult to make him what he wants and make yourself what you want? I work 40 hours each week, go to the gym…

Use to weigh once a week. My goals have changed and so now I weigh once a month.

Love this post, preach it sista! I am 57 years old and did not start strength training until last July. And I could not agree more. I so wish I had started when I was your age. My body is undergoing quite a transformation and I love it. I'm stronger, more confident, and just look better. I have a MD niece at Christmas that…

Wonderful article!

Bump, Yo looks amazing! If only I had not waited so long!

Indeed. And even if she does not, I'm sure she is still more than JUST a pretty face. I just found it funny someone would say work on your education when most likely they have no clue what her educational level is. I was simply pointing out she could be very educated. I'm confident she has avocations, interests, etc. that…

She could have a doctorate for all you know. WTF.

^^^^This, body fat percentage is a lot more important than what you weigh. I currently am at a healthy weigh but my BF is still over 30%. I had it checked in a BodPod and the person who administered the test was able to give me a lot of really useful information. I told her I would like to get down to 22% BF which is…

I am 57. The only way you can't do it is if you decide you can't.

Bump, great topic. My avocation!
